Great concept, poor experience. No air conditioning.

The hotel concept was great. Their cycling theme carried through every aspect of the building from lobby decor, a history of cycling displayed on the walls of the steairway and the cycling-specific room decorations. Yellow, the color of champions, was featured prominently. The reason for my 1 star review stems from the experience itself. We visited Budapest in early April during an unseasonable heat wave. Despite the hotel website advertising “130 air conditioned rooms”, there was no air conditioning. Opening the window to let in cooler outside air didn’t help due to the limited amount that the windows open so I went to the front desk seeking a solution. I was told the air conditioning was not turned on for the season and was given no assurance that it would be turned on during our stay. I asked if a fan may be available to at least attempt to cool our room and was told that wasn’t an option either. I then asked if there was an ice machine and was met with my third no. The room was too hot to sleep in so even though we had booked a three night stay we opted to leave after the first night to check into a different hotel that did in fact have air conditioning. Overall, although the hotel concept was great the quality was very poor and I would recommend looking elsewhere for your stay.

Not the best. Although it was clean and tidy there’s a few reason into why we wouldn’t come back to this hotel. The breakfast- A rubbish selection hardly anything left and doesn’t get replaced once gone, it’s like animals fighting at the watering hole. Glasses for juice/water are dirty. Also it’s manic! no system in place just a free for all to get a seat, we had to sit in the reception seats the first day. When your on holiday you should be entitled to a lie in however if you want any chance of decent food or a seat then you have to get up at the crack of dawn and be down there at no later then 7:15/7:30AM. Awful The Pillows- It’s like sleeping on air ( not in a good way) There is only 1 extra pillow so you’re pretty screwed over if you are the other person. You may as-well not have pillows and just sleep head on the mattress. The temperature- The weather in budapest has been lovely, T-shirt weather all day however the room, oh my! the air conditioning doesn’t work only blows out hot air. Had to sleep with the window open all night and have open all day as it was like sleeping in an oven. The cleaner would come back in and shut the window when our room was cleaned even thou we requested they didn’t do this. The Location- This is fab, Not far from the centre. The tram isn’t far away ( 23/2b or 4/6) which take around 15 minutes. Overall - Good location but a pretty crap stay. Coming home tired , hungry from next to no breakfast and with back ache from the pillows. oh and heat exhaustion!!

From the minute we arrived we were welcomed by friendly staff. Daniel was very helpful and went over and above to provide us with a guide to Budapest that was very useful. We were offered a choice of room when we checked in. One with a view of the Danube but noisy or a quieter one. We chose the room with a view and the noise was the traffic. It is very busy at times but it wasn’t an issue. The rooms are perfectly fine. Everything you’d need. Plenty of room for storage. The room was serviced each day. My wife would have preferred a harder pillow but that was just a minor point. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. We were there each day around 9am and some days were busy and others were quiet. The staff were very friendly and were busy keeping the food topped up and areas clean. It took us about 40 minutes to walk into the centre which was a great way to see the sights but the main tram stop is right outside the hotel if you’d prefer an easier route. Each journey is just £1 and tickets can be bought at the station. Form the very competitive price we got everything we would need for a city break hotel. Should we ever return to Budapest we would definitely use this hotel again.

Great Base For Exploring Budapest

Good budget hotel next to the river. Very clean with everything you would need for a base to sleep. Close to some good bars and restaurants along the river and a tram stop across the road. Adequate breakfast that is refilled constantly and tables cleared quickly. It is 20/30 mins walk from the main centre and the hop on hop off bus service. Staff are friendly and helpful

Quirky, comfy hotel

Quite a quirky hotel, has a bicycle theme throughout. When checking in we were asked if we preferred a view of the Danube (noisy) or a view of the parking lot (quiet) - we opted for the quiet room as we would be spending very little time in it, only to sleep and omg it was so quiet. The rooms aren’t huge, but adequate for 3 nights, with en suite, clean with enough space for our things. The free safe in the room operates by swiping any card with a magnetic strip - we used a Sainsbury’s card. Continental breakfast with the usual meats and cheeses, but also scrambled eggs, sausages and yoghurt and cereals. There is also a help yourself coffee machine in reception. A little way from the centre, half an hours walk along the Danube is all it took to get to the many bars and eateries. We would definitely stay here again should we revisit Budapest
