• Welcome

    - Situated at the confluence of the Erdre and Loire Rivers, Nantes was the city of the Dukes of Brittany and later an industrial capital in the region… Steeped in maritime culture, this city is a charming and pleasant holiday destination.

    - Scale the tower of the Lieu Unique and, from the Gyrorama, admire the cityscape, the Bouffay district and the Loire estuary stretching out before you…

    - Witness a sight you won’t soon forget during the Machines de l’île festival: a Giant Elephant puppet that would make Jules Verne dream. Admire these fascinating, world-famous designs (signed Daniel Buren and Patrick Bouchain) before heading to the bars and restaurants around the Hangar à Bananes.

    - Feel like shopping? Head to the Pommeray passage, a listed historic monument chock block full of shops and boutiques. This is the place to do some “Crébillonage”, a local expression for window shopping (derived from the rue Crébillon shopping district).

  • See, visit, discover…

Explore the chateau of the Dukes of Brittany or the Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul cathedral to immerse yourself in 15th century history…

If you need to experience true beauty, take a trip to the Jardin des Plantes (“Botanical gardens”) or the Fine-Arts Museum.

And for an authentic experience, take the river shuttle to Trentemoult, an old fishing village, or cruise along the Erdre and discover Nantes from the water’s surface…

  • Tips from Accorhotels.com

    - When to go?
Music-enthusiasts would do well to visit Nantes during the Folle Journée, or “Crazy Day”, in early January. In spring the real deal is the Carnival, but the summer season is best for strolling along the river banks without a worry in the world!

    - How to get around?
Bus and tramway networks are efficient and affordable in Nantes. Otherwise, the Bicloo network allows you to rent electric bicycles and tricycles (known as Cyclopolitains), a cheap and eco-friendly option.

    - Good deals
The Fine-Arts museum is free on the first Sunday of the month (except July and August) and Thursdays between 6 and 8PM.
