- None should leave Melbourne without having experienced the Queen Victoria Market… Opened in 1878, this market boasts thousands of stalls and great prices for anything from toys to priceless jewels.
- Admire the architecture of the Federation Square, but also the various activities and events that take place there throughout the year!
- Take a moment to relax in the NewQuay district, or just get your fix of fun and games at the Crown Entertainment Complex. If you need a break, head on to the Royal Botanical Gardens, or even the Fitzroy Gardens, to get some peace and quiet… -
See, visit, discover…
To get a bird’s eye view of Melbourne the best way is to scale the 88 floors of the Eureka Skydeck (no worries, there are elevators). Otherwise one can enjoy a panoramic view of the city from the 55th floor of the Rialto Towers…
You can meet a host of marine animals at the Melbourne Aquarium, and land animals galore at the Royal Melbourne Zoological Gardens!
A tour of the Melbourne Museum and the National Gallery of Victoria will shed light on Australia’s indigenous communities, their history and culture. Also, this museum will teach you all there is to know about the fascinating flora and fauna of Australia -
Tips from Accorhotels.com
- When to go?
The best time to visit is during the Australian summer, from November to March. In October you can catch the International Arts Festival, and in March the Melbourne Fashion Festival.
- How to get around?
The tram, train and bus network is efficient and user-friendly, but yellow taxis can be found throughout the city. Nowadays, many prefer to get around on a bicycle, which might be an option if you feel up to the challenge!
- Good deals:
The City Circle Tram runs freely from 10AM to 6PM, stopping by most of the major attractions in the Central Business District (CBD) and offering a wealth of information along the ride.
