September is a great month to visit as you can catch the Arts Alive festival; otherwise you can come in April for the Joburg Easter Festival.
- How to get around?
Over 500 buses run through the city for a total of 80 bus routes. Taxis are available but cannot be hailed in the street, they must be ordered by telephone.

The Botanical Gardens and the Emmarentia Dam are beautiful natural sites. These are perfect for a picnic in the sunshine, and even host concerts at different periods of the year.
