• Welcome

    - Discover the city as a whole from the Top of Africa, from the slums of Soweto to the buzzing activity on Nelson-Mandela square.

    - Take time to shop around and enjoy yourself in one of the 120 shops, restaurants and cinemas of the Rosebank Mall.

    - Discover hundreds of animal species at the local zoo, unless you are eager to see wild beasts in their natural habitat, in which case you should head on to the Lanseria Lion Park.

  • See, visit, discover…

Tread in the footsteps of the very first humans at the Braamfontein Origins Centre Museum, and put on your gambling hat at Gold Reef City!

You can also learn the tragic but fascinating history of the city and country at the Apartheid museum, the African museum, and Constitution Hill (a former prison).

Art-enthusiasts will find their own slice of heaven at the Johannesburg Art Gallery.

  • Tips from Accorhotels.com

    - When to visit?
September is a great month to visit as you can catch the Arts Alive festival; otherwise you can come in April for the Joburg Easter Festival.

    - How to get around?
Over 500 buses run through the city for a total of 80 bus routes. Taxis are available but cannot be hailed in the street, they must be ordered by telephone.

    - Good deals:
The Botanical Gardens and the Emmarentia Dam are beautiful natural sites. These are perfect for a picnic in the sunshine, and even host concerts at different periods of the year.
