• Welcome

    - Wander the harbour, steeped in history, and check out the fish market on Saturday mornings.

    - Go shopping, Hamburg-style, in the Hanse-Viertel Mall and in the shopping district from Jungfernstieg to Neuer Wall avenue…

    - This city is greener than most, with over 14% of Hamburg dedicated to parks and gardens: Alsterpark is a delight, while the Planten un Blomen boasts the largest Japanese garden in Europe.

  • See, visit, discover…

If you have the heart for it, scale the 453 steps of the Saint-Michael church to command a view of the city and the harbour.

Make a reservation to attend a performance in one of the city’s top three art houses: the Opera, the German Theatre, and the Thalia Theatre.

Culture-vultures will find they have simply too much to choose from: the Deichtorhallen (Photo and Contemporary Art Museum), the Decorative Arts museum and the Hamburg Art Gallery are three notable examples.

  • Tips from Accorhotels.com

    - When to go?
Some of the best times to visit are for the three different editions of the Hamburger Dom funfair (April, August and November), or in late August during the Alstervergnügen Festival on the banks of the Alster.

    - How to get around?
There are over 1500 buses and an excellent rail network that cover the entire city.

    - Good deals:
The Hamburg Card (for 1, 3 or 5 days) gives you full access to all public transport, but also special rates for over 130 tourist sites, shows, cruises, restaurants and more…
