A Walk in Aberdeen’s Duthie Park

Whether you’re visiting Aberdeenshire for a romantic weekend with your partner or to rest and relax with family, make sure you take a trip to Duthie Park. The perfect place to escape the crowds, Duthie Park is loved by locals and visitors alike for its wide range of exotic plants, play areas, and beautifully restored Victorian design features.

The park was opened in 1883, three years after Miss Elizabeth Crombie Duthie gifted it to the city for the enjoyment of residents and visitors. Now Scotland’s third most visited gardens, Duthie Park is a brilliant place to escape the city air and enjoy a little recreation with loved ones or some peaceful time alone. The park is also home to the David Welch Winter Gardens, one of the largest indoor gardens in Europe.
Stroll through colourful exotic plant gardens and thrill little ones with adventure play areas. Boating ponds are fun for all the family, while sports fields allow locals and guests to compete and practice anytime. Duthie Park is also bursting with Victorian design features, including the Band Stand, fountains, and the iconic decorative mound.

David Welch Winter Gardens

The David Welch Winter Gardens are tucked inside Duthie Park and are an absolute must-see. Wonder around the glasshouse and admire the collection of beautiful and unusual flowers that live there. The Winter Gardens feature a range of rare plants from all around the world, so take the opportunity to discover something new.

The Winter Gardens are also home to a temperate house, the Corridor of Perfumes, Fern House, the enchanting Victorian Corridor, the Japanese Garden, Tropical House, and much more!
