The Louvre-Lens is presenting the first exhibition for over thirty-five years to be dedicated to the Le Nain brothers: Antoine (died in 1648), Louis (1648) and Mathieu (1677). Rediscovered and described as "painters of reality" by the critic Champfleury in the mid-nineteenth century, the Le Nain brothers painted pictures of the strongest and most human people in the seventeenth century. La Forge and La Charette are unforgettable paintings, waiting to be rediscovered in a new light today.

The exhibition aims to highlight all aspects of the art of the Le Nain brothers, from small copper pieces to the famous peasant scenes, not forgetting the religious and mythological paintings.
