Located between two gentle canals in the heart of the city, Sofitel Legend The Grand boasts a rich history. The Grand offers five-star luxury in a unique "Amsterdam" ambiance, furnished with French elegance and grandeur. The rooms, restaurant Bridges, the banqueting halls and the beautiful garden terrace captivate and seduce everyone into visiting the hotel. It is well known for its 'Council Chamber' where the former Dutch Queen, Princess Beatrix got married in 1966.
Many attractions are just a short walk from the hotel, including Kalverstraat, Dam Square, Madame Tussaud's, and Body Worlds, while the Anne Frank Huis, the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are an easy tram ride away. If you want to join in the nightlife, then head to Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein. A boat trip on Amsterdam's canals comes highly recommended.

IMHO the best city hotel in Europe. After rennovation everything is very close to be perfect. I've stayed here over 10 times, and will come once again. Thank you very much for high level of hospitality, for all persons, for all services .
Dear Guest. It is a pleasure to read your lovely review and your words are very encouraging for the entire team, thank you. As one of our regular guests we do hope to welcome you back to Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam soon. Kind regards, Remco Groenhuijzen General Manager
We stayed at The Grand right after disembarking from a riverboat that traveled the Rhine for seven days. We are so glad that we made our reservation here! The hotel staff were absolutely outstanding in every way. It is the first time we can remember that a front desk person brought us to our room and made us feel at home there! The hotel and the room were beautifully designed and very centrally located for our stay in Amsterdam. We only wish we could have stayed longer!
Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave your experience on Tripadvisor. Your feedback is very much appreciated and I will share it with the entire team. We hope to welcome you back in the near future! With kind regards, Remco Groenhuijzen General Manager
This is an excellent hotel in all respects. Location is central with short walks to all sites within Amsterdam. Staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful, offering good advice on all attractions, transportation etc. I will definately return to this hotel in the future.
The Sofitel is both luxurious and conveniently located in the Old Town area. Our canal view room was quite small but very comfortable with all mod cons and a well accoutred bathroom. The Bridges restaurant is split in two, a bistro with a limited but more than adequate menu and a top class restaurant that soecialises in fish. We used both and were very happy indeed. Full breakfast service is of the highest standard. But one of the best features of this hotel is its location, in a quiet area but conveniently located within walking disance of the Central Railway Station, 9 Streets shopping area and, a little longer stretch, the Rijksmuseuem and the Van Gogh museum. The only downside of Amsterdam is that the streets are really mucky!
Thank you for this brilliant review of your recent stay with us. I am most pleased that you regard our breakfast of the highest standard and that you enjoyed both our Petit Bistro and our restaurant Bridges, inspired by Ron Blaauw. We are indeed a short stroll away from the major attractions and different shopping areas; it is excellent to know you made use of our prime location during your time in Amsterdam. I do hope that we can welcome you back to The Grand. Best wishes, Remco Groenhuijzen General Manager
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and we were impressed with the service and friendliness of both the check-in staff and the rest of the staff. As it was raining for most of our visit, the doorman kindly made sure that we were equipped with umbrellas whenever we would leave the hotel premises. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were clean. You must not miss the complimentary tour of the hotel as the building is historical and tour guide was quite knowledgeable and entertaining. We also had dinner at "Bridges" on our last night and it was excellent.
We appreciate that you took the time to leave your remarks on TripAdvisor and would like to thank you for your positive words. I will not fail to forward your kind review to them, as it will make them feel erally proud ! We do hope to welcome you back in the near future. With kind regards, Remco Groenhuijzen General Manager
Fantastic hotel with a great location. We arrived at 07:30 after our flight arrived at 06:00 and it was no problem for the staff to check us into our room which we really appreciated. Another pleasant surprise was that they had also upgraded us to a junior suite, the room overlooked the court yard, but there was no noise from traffic at all. We didn't eat in the hotel other than breakfast in Bridges. It had a great selection of food available serving the traditional European breakfast, however they did have a menu that had a selection of hot foods that are freshly cooked to order. The staff in here could not do enough for you, incredibly attentive and a sense of humor (which we appreciated). We shall definitely be staying there again this year (when it's warmer, not to keen on - temperatures now that we live in the Middle East).
Your kind words are very much appreciate and we would like to thank you for sharing them on TripAdvisor. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back during the summer, which is the perfect time to enjoy our inner garden...the best kept secret of Amsterdam. With kind regards, Remco Groenhuijzen General Manager
Stayed for 3 nights over new year in a Prestige Suite (complete with butler!) and was very difficult to fault. Apart from a delayed check--in, the room, concierge, bar and pool were excellent. Location first class, décor modern and team couldn't have been more helpful. Would highly recommend
Wow, thank you so much for this super review....it is almost like a proper advertisement for our hotel. Thank you for your kind words and for choosing The Grand. We hope to soon welcome you back. With kind regards, Remco Groenhuijzen General Manager
