« An Mercure that should be qualified as an IBIS »

The hotel is well situated just in Rambla fronting the Rio da Prata. But the hotel is very small, no lounge, no lobby. The area of the front desk is minimal. And the breakfast is served in the same area that serves as a lounge!!!

Dear MMXS, Thank you for your review. It's a pity that you didn´t rescue anything positive about our hotel. We are a small hotel of 41 rooms with a boutique caracter in the best city location, just one block to the main shopping mall of the city. We enjoy offering the best sevice we can provide, but it seems that the building aspects clouded any perception of our work. The breakfast is not served in the lounge, we have a restaurant especifically for this service as anyone can see in the web. We rae sorry for the negative experience You had. « Good cost benefit ratio »

It´s well located, clean and the crew is very friendly. The room is the smallest Mercure I´ve ever imagine, about 16 or 18 sq meters. The breafast is good, but I have missed some good Uruguayan bread.

« Great Hotel »

amazing hotel! perfect location! the breakfast should better with more options. the receptionist was great and very polite. Me and my husband we liked a lot the hotel. The internet was very good! great hotel!

« Second stay, great hotel »

This was my second stay at this property. Excellent staff from the front desk particularly Alejandro whose English is good, Nathan in the restaurant and the girls at breakfast. Housekeeping a bit spotty. Changed linens on request but the bed cover was stained, probably clean but with obvious stains--twice. Good English tv selection particularly Bloomberg Financial-- but really wish they carried CNBC station. Breakfast selection extensive but mediocre quality. Most rates include breakfast and they will deliver to the room for US$5 surcharge. Dulce de leche is a highlight of Uruguay. Breakfast offers one d de l pastry but it is very poor quality. A higher quality product would highlight this national treasure more. 11th floor has 2 rooms with balcony overlooking water. Great for single person but room is small so may be tight for 2 persons. Wish room had hot water setup. Not convenient to go to restaurant for tea. Love the area. Be sure to walk the ramblas with the locals. Great for running and biking, too. Good supermarket in punta carretas shopping center nearby. Close to busses to all areas of Montevideo. I will certainly return to this hotel.

« Mini-Mercure »

This is a smaller Mercure the world. It is in the neighborhood of Punta Carretas, a quiet, safe and pleasant neighborhood. Suitable for walking on the edge of the beach, good bars and restaurants. Next 200m Shopping Punta Carretas.

« Nice Boutique Style Hotel »

This was the first Accor Hotel I have stayed in that was more of a boutique style property. The room we had was furnished really nicely and had a great water view. It did have nicely fitted out, but very small bathroom. The location of the property is also good with plenty of nice restaurants within easy walking distance. Shopping at Punta Carretas Mall was also just around the corner. Breakfast was more like a continental breakfast and the restaurant was very small. No real bar as it was included in the restaurant. The staff were quite attentive and friendly. Overall a nice property.

« Very comfortable »

Very comfortable and excellent position. Personnel is professional. Only negative issue is the lack of own parking. However there's always safe place along the "Rambla". Ok breakfast and other services. Very nice the balconies at high floor (12) and with an astonishing panorama

« Hotel Mercure Punta Carretas »

Very good hotel, clean, confortable. My unique negative comment was when I have asked for a taxi. I have noticed that the recepcionist receive a "fee" from the taxi drive (or taxi drive company) to indicate passengers for the airport. When I asked the taxi driver from the hotel the cost was $900, as I asked direct to the taxi driver, I have paid $600....

« Disappointed. »

Disappointed, but not suffering too much. As a "Le Club" associated client (Silver Client) I made my reservation at this Mercure hotel logged in my account and had a "special" rate when my reservation was made. It was a promotion that reserving two or more nights in the weekend there would be a special discount. My arrival in the hotel was expected to Friday, 12 tonight and check out at Sunday, 14. As my flight to Montevideo was delayed I just arrived in the hotel in the first hours of Saturday, 13 and was massively surprised when the receptionist told that my reservation was cancelled because I didn't arrived on time in the night of Friday. Further to that there was no more rooms available in the category I reserved. Hopefully there were 3 rooms in the standard category and they were much more expensive than the value I was expecting in my reservation. As it was our wedding anniversary and we were very tired I didn't want to create problems or make complaints at that time and I booked a standard room for a very "salted" price. Secondly, as I made my reservation logged in my Le Club account I was expecting to have all my personal data filled in the check in registration when I arrived in the hotel (as it usually happens at all Ibis I stay). It didn't happen and we had to fill all of our data in the forms after to be advised that my "reservation" was cancelled. Anyway, we filled it and went to the room to sleep. So, I realized that to be a “Le Club Silver” client is not that advantage as Accor tries to convince us. They don’t honor prices, reservation and even don’t automate the registration process at the reception using your Le Club data. It would be very simple to solve this “issue”, managing it like Ibis: if you don’t arrive until a certain time in your first day they charge the first day at your credit card. At Mercure they said me that I should advise when I did my reservation that I would be delayed… Well, I couldn’t know that my flight would be delayed. What should I do? Go the pilot cabin in the flight and ask to the pilot to contact the airport through the plane radio and ask somebody to call Mercure to advise that as the flight arrival was delayed I would arrive later in the hotel?? Come on! As a company that operates hotels in dozens of countries you should know that not expected situations can happen and have a procedure to manage them. Using the same system as Ibis described above would be enough!! Why don’t you do it??????

« Great Hotel »

Mercure Punta Carretas has on its favor various atributes, that i will resume in only one: Quality. The location, the room quality, the service and the room view are amazing. The only bad thing is that you will have to find a place to park your car on the street, once the hotel does not offer a parking garage.
