3 night stay to touch base with relatives living in Canberra. Easy place to find, although Navman still refers to it as a Rydges hotel, and nice to be out of the city traffic. Units are quite comfortable, great bed, good shower and large wall mounted TV with inbuilt DVD. Feels like a bushland retreat, hearing the birds in the morning and spotting rabbits. Days were quite hot while we were there but pool got a workout and aircon used as necessary. Café munch great for breakfast buffet and also dined at night with quality food. A much appreciated style of hotel, not seen so often these days and deserves to be experienced by many.

Our room was comfortable but there was no clock in the room and no extractor fan in the bathroom. The evening meal was adequate. There was a wide selection of foods for breakfast. The roads around the hotel need to be repaired.

My impression was set to low when I rang to find out when check in time ended as we were stuck in bad traffic coming out of Sydney. After being on hold for 8 minutes I gave up. I clicked the address sent in the email on my phone so we could be directed straight to the property after a long 6 hr drive. It put us at the McDonalds and service station in the entertainment grounds in the ACT, missing the property by 20 minutes. 20 minutes too far. Confused I rang again, to be given some simple and not reassuring instructions. A tip to the property: pay for a sign that says exit here for IBIS Styles Eaglehawk. It will save a lot of anxiety and stress for families. The in house restaurant didn't close until 9pm, so starving we went straight to dinner after check in. We were ignored by staff, having to request 3 times to make an order, asking if we should seat ourselves, having to get up and get the staff, not even been offered to place a drinks order. Kudos to the chef because the food was good. Even if the garlic bread was likely the most expensive in the world for what you get. Interestingly the family that arrived after us was seated professionally, offered drinks etc, so not sure why we got the cold shoulder. This isn't something I've received before at other properties in the Accor group which are always polite and professional. The room was fine and comfortable enough, although neither tv worked in either room, with only 1 being able to be fixed. The pool was closed for testing and maintenance, though appeared fine. The property does offer a nice location and giant chess and a relaxed atmosphere (plus bunnies and saw a wallaby in the next field). In warmer months this would be a nice stay with kids. There is a pizza bar on site, but not sure if it opens and operates as was closed when we saw it. There might be other offerings but its a find it yourself on the park map style of doing things. Breakfast apparently does do poached eggs cooked to order, but not if they are expecting a large number of guests because its too much work for the chef. So eggless (they did have scrambled but being lactose intolerant I can't eat it), buffet breakfast was fine.

After a long day in Canberra the hotel provides an excellent launching point for the drive the next day north. The staff were friendly, helpful and prompt with their service which helped at the end of a big day.
Very suitable for a family with clean, well appointed rooms with a king in the main bedroom and three singles in the other bedroom. All went very well but for the television system failed in our room. Staff made a real effort but to no avail. Too complicated for me. This was not a big concern.

We have stayed here on numerous occasions in the past, even when it was a Rydges, but this will be the last time we stay. The bathroom in our room was in need of maintenance. The toilet roll holder was hanging on by a very loose screw and the toilet paper refused to stay on. The soap holder in the shower was also similar. The tiles in the shower had been painted over and it was hard to see if the stuff coming off in the shower was paint or mould. As for breakfast, this was not the best. The dining room was a mess. There was food on the floor, tables were not cleaned on a timely basis and the hot food was lukewarm to say the least. This is not what we have come to expect from Accor hotels. I realise it is a "budget" hotel, but i would have expected a certain standard for Accor hotels. We have been Accor members for many years - if this is the standard that valued members receive we wonder what other customers get.

The Ibis is in a bushland setting about a ten minutes' drive into Canberra. It is actually 500 metres over the border into NSW. We stopped there on our trip to Sydney to show our grandson the important parts of Canberra - Parliament House, War Memorial etc. The room, although not large, was clean and comfortable and the meals, particularly dinner were excellent. Various animals pop out at dusk which is nice for children to see. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Would stay there again.

If I am to return to Eaglehawk it will only be due to the staff. My stay was for two nights and during that stay I used four rooms. This was due to the fact that in two of the rooms there was no hot water. Finally I decided to stay in the last room which had not water and use the one next door for showering. I am aware that this was not the fault of the staff and I must say that they were without a doubt brilliant. However I feel that if Eaglehawk wishes to continue getting my business and others it needs to be improved in many areas, your staff can only apologise so many times. On another matter and that is the restaurant. The new menu looks great but the food was very average. I was served luke warm soup and fish that tasted as though it had been battered a week ago. Once again the young lady that was running the restaurant was great and she went above and beyond to satisfy my requirements. I am sorry that I feel it necessary to write this review however if you are not made aware then you cannot resolve.
