What a great hotel! We love the friendliness of all staff members, the central, yet quiet, location, and the super comfy beds!! Everything is right on your doorstep, including public transport. Some great restaurants and designer shopping within easy walking distance.
"All I hoped for"

I travelled to Melbourne for one night just to catch up with a friend, and see a music gig in south Yarra. It was an ideal location and walking distance to where I wanted to go.Check in was quick and easy, and my room spacious and comfortable.i got a 50% off deal, so great value.I couldn't complain about anything, and would stay again.
"Not as good as other reviews would indicate."

After reading all the rave reviews on this hotel I was keen to stay.Checked in Friday night. I had read that guests were warmly greeted with coffee at check in. No coffee was offered to us at check in, although the machine was right next to the staff member. No other guests were anywhere to be seen, so it wasn't because she was busy. The room allocated was the one I had booked and prepaid for, which was an open-plan spa suite. Although I had requested one with a Japanese garden outlook, I was advised this would cost an extra $50- upgrade fee. I wasn't aware of this, so I declined. Our room was on the 6th floor but had a street and factory/building outlook. I ran the spa bath and after calling the front desk because there was no bath gel/foam I was informed they didn't have any and to use the shower lotion ? provided. I later read the bottle which advised it could be used as a bath foam! After the spa bath was filled, I turned on the jets and was met with the appearance of a brown sludge which had come from the spa jets. Revolting. I reported this and was told it was because the spa doesn't get used during the week, but it was okay. I was not happy with this, and someone was sent to clean the bath and refill it to test it. I was also given some bath crystals as an apology. Good, but we were only at the hotel for one night and the romantic evening had lost its shine by then. Room service dinner was acceptable but my chicken risotto was made with sliced chicken-the kind you get from deli, not chicken pieces, although I was assured it was gluten free.Check out staff were much friendlier than the check in staff member and when we went back to sort out a car park issue after checkout they were helpful with a car park validation voucher and the coffee that we did not originally get-Thank you Eden. The hotel is well located on Chapel St, as you know, and that is probably its best feature. The open plan spa room was certainly spacious and beautifully decorated, but the tv reception was pretty poor (we were watching tv while the bath was getting cleaned and checked by the staff). This hotel is five stars, but nowhere near as classy as Accor's flagship five star Sofitel hotel in the city-go there unless you need to be in South Yarra.
"Thank you to the staff"

A most comfortable establishment with exceptional personnel who actually understand the meaning of SERVICE. The rooms are clean and fresh and the facilities perfect after a day travelling and at the office. I would like to see a little larger wine selection available in the bar.

We were extremely pleased with all aspects of this hotel. We arrived at about 11pm after the football and the reception staff came outside to meet us at our car.The next morning when one of my wife's earrings fell done the vanity outlet was not even an issue as the on site maintenance staff were able to retrieve it by dismantling the surrounds with a minimum of fuss.We will definitely return as the service is perfect and the local Chapel St precinct means the location is also great.

If you love shopping, this is in a great location in Chapel Street.. Restaurants and cafes around it and the cinema complex too. Parking is pricey though. Valet parking cost $35.00. Wilson parking overnight is about $30.00.

Stayed here for a night via a preview sale and scored a room for $100. Check-in staff were so incredibly welcoming and made me feel at ease. Room was fantastic and right on Chapel Street. Hotel has been taken over by Accor recently. Decor is young and has energy. Happy to stay here again.
"would use again"

I booked the hotel for 2 work colleagues who were visiting Melbourne from the States. I always want to give visitors a taste for this fantastic city and the Como didn't let me down. It's in a great location, with good cafes and restaurants nearby, and close to the CBD

Fantastic Hotel with very nice rooms. Great breakfast. Large rooms. Highly recommended.Toiletries great. They were of a very high standard. The atmosphere of the hotel was nice and the bar was open until late and we could have a few drinks and relax later on into the night.
"Great place to stay"
15th August 2013
We had a standard room and it was huge and very clean. Room was twice the size of many city hotels we have stayed in. Bathroom had a big bath and sep shower. All amenities looked new and modern. Staff were friendly and helpfull. Location is excellent - with all the shops, cafes and restaurants of Chapel St on your doorstep. Will definately stay here again. A high quality hotel at a moderate price.
"Enjoyable stay at the Como"
13th August 2013, ymayak, Bendigo, Australia
Our recent stay at Como was really enjoyable. The service was prompt and the room spacious and tidy. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. The only negative comment was the fact that the valet parking price was not confirmed with us when dropping the car off. It was a very prompt service, but it would have been nice to have had the price confirmed at the time. Perhaps this is lack of experience on our behalf, but other hotels have given parking options and appropriate costs on arrival.
"Business short stay"

Great location for my business with easy access to shops cafe & restaurants. Como does not have a coffee shop so this is a minor downside for them. Room lovely and amenities good. Lighting could be improved.

Fantastic location, great restaurants, great shopping. The staff on the desk very friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable but nothing special, we had an adjoining room,so not very soundproof .Bed and pillows fantastic very comfortable. The information centre on the T.V. was not working. Bathroom good, loved the Morrissey toiletries a nice touch. The shower was over a very deep bath which could be a problem for some people. Made use of the pool, great area. THE MAJOR PROBLEM was the air conditioning, room was very hot and stuffy, had someone look at it on two occaissions we were unable to turn it off .We had a 3 night stay so did not go home rested as we would have wished and certainly put a damper on the week end. This problem needs to be addressed.

The location is central to all Chappell and Toorak Street shops and restaurants - and a short trip to the CBD. Staff at the Como are efficient, friendly and professional. We thought the hotel was very clean and had a modern feel to it even though it is probably an older style building. Our suite on the end of the 7th floor was modern , spacious with a great bed and spa- very quiet. Valet parking is the usual $35 ish but there is public carparking next door. The hotel is missing a restaurant however they do have a great buffet and al carte breakfast service. To sum up it is a great hotel - if you happen to get a good deal on price then it is an excellent hotel!

Close to chapel street shops and the tram into the city or st kilda. The rooms are large and well equiped with all ammenities. My matress has seen better days. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The pool on the roof looked great. I did not use the bar area. Breakfast was fine.View management response »

"Relaxing and warm experience"
21st July 2013, BJDBendigo_Australia, Bendigo, Australia
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, Service was excellent and the room was very comfortable. The Como Melbourne does not have a dining area for dining in at lunch or dinner but it does have room service. However, its location in Chapel Street is close to many top restaurants. I would highly recommend this establishment.View management response »

"Mostly pleasant experience thank you."

Wonderfully proactive, efficient staff. One point off for one staff member, who gave me misleading advice, then left me to find a staff member more happy to help me. Very clean and wonderful toiletries. The toilet was quite high. The kettle nearly impossible to fill and had to sit on the pouf cushion to use. Would not even attempt to use the toaster. The choice of brand of tea was awful, unfortunately, the same in the breakfast dining room, coffee really good in the dining room though.Unlucky to book adjoining room as woken up by noisy neighbours at 2.30am and they took quite awhile to settle down, hard to get back to sleep after that. The location was good, but not so much for our purpose. Good value but have stayed places better value, despite small touches like water bottles, greatly appreciated, some others have left small snacks etc. The parking a bit dear but very efficient. Overall very, very good.View management response »

Fantastic service @ reception. Nice touch, offering a nice cup of coffee and some fresh juicy apples. The room (suite) was fantastic although both my wife and I did not appreciate the huge awkward mirror - a minor detail. Close to shops, restaurants and cafe - away from the city center. Not much of a night life unless you travel down to the city. Quite and peaceful stay after an enjoyable spa bath.View management response »
Management responseDear Boz_2013Thank you for your lovely review of The Como Melbourne in particular your comments regarding the team, our welcome touches and our spa baths. I am sorry that the large mirror was not to your liking. We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the not too distant future.Kind regardsCleo SeamanGeneral Manager

We chose the como to stay at the night we went to see P!NK in concert, the location was close to rod laver arena and only took around 10 minutes to get there. The room was great and I enjoyed the spa. On our return to the hotel after the concert we discovered that some of P!NKS band were staying at the hotel so we thought that was great and also shows the quality of this hotel. Breakfast was great. Would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.View management response »

Haven't stayed at the Como prior to this so we thought we'd give it a go since it's a hotel celebraties go to... should be great. To our surprise, it's just another hotel... nothing fantastic about it. When we walked into our room, a strange smell greeted us at the door. Can't pin point what it was... but it wasn't "nice smelling". It was throughout the room, including the shower. Didn't complain about it coz' hubby said it might be "designer perfume" smell. I have my doubts about that... it just wasn't pleasant to the nose. The room was clean, but the bed was VERY saggy. We didn't have a good night's rest because it was just uncomfortably saggy. One would have thought a luxury hotel such as Como would provide good quality beds for their guest considering the price they pay to stay over here. Unfortunately, it was not the case... Super saggy beds on both sides. The bed was suppose to be a King Bed, but it was 2 Singles joined together. We could feel the "valley" in the middle of the saggy beds and the "mountain peak" in the middle of the "joined beds". Very disappointing. The shower was in a spa bath. We are in our late thirties and we "just" managed to climb in and out of the spa tub to shower, trying not to fall. There were no steps for users to climb into the spa tub. I would imagine it'll be a problem for older folks or people who are shorter in height. The was no non-slip shower mat as well. Extremely dangerous in my opinion. We had a swim in the pool. It was clean and the surrounding area kept tidy. The hotel have a small restaurant but it only serve breakfast. I believe room service for other meals are available since we saw some room service trays being left outside some rooms on the level we stayed. Food is not a problem here coz' there are PLENTY of restaurants in this area to choose from. There is a bar as well, but we didn't venture in to check it out.Valet parking is available at $35/day, or park your car in one of MANY parking complexes around the area. Now that we have experienced the Como in Melbourne, we can safely say it was just an OK/average but expensive hotel to stay in. Yes, the celebraties might choose Como for some reasons and have their own private "section" of the hotel that makes Como THE hotel to stay in... Personally, I think there are better hotels to stay in with that kind of price tag.View management response »

Yes, all we could say was "wow". We were fortunate to experience a stay in a 1 bedroom apt and it was beyond our expectations with style, space, glamour. In fact we almost cancelled our dinner reservation to eat in. We didn't want to leave. Staff and barman were friendly and provided great service. Bed super comfortable, luxurious ensuite. And when our car was brought to us on departure, there were bottles of water in the console for our journey.
