"Great 3 days"

My wife and I thought Sails was wonderful. In fact the whole resort "town" is brilliant. Everything from 5 star to backpackers and campers, great setup. Sails itself was great, room was excellent, restaurants, pool, gardens, also. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great setting off point for Ayers Rock and the Olga's. Best part of the stay was the Tali Wiru fine dining experience on a sand dune in the middle of nowhere - brilliant. Some people may find it slightly expensive, but coming from Perth where prices for everything are through the roof, this was a steal. Considering everything has to be trucked in, I thought the prices were more than acceptable. Would I recommend it to my friends - absolutely.
"A Real Oasis in the Desert"

After a very hard week of doing business in the Northern Territory, we needed a 24 hour recharge so my wife selected Sails in The Desert.Our first surprise was we weren't aware Accor was running the resort, and the staff made sure we were aware it was an Accor Establishment and all of the Accor privliges were available to us.Our room was excellent with a large patio. The biggest disapointment was we were only staying for 2 nights.The staff helped us arrange our very cramed activities in a day where we were able to get the appreciation of Ayres Rock and know we want to return and take more time to see it properly.
"You Expect Better with Such a High Room Rate"

The check in and check out procedure was adequate. The room was also of good quality. We encountered a problem with the cleaning of our room. When the cleaner arrived to do our room we were still asleep inside and he/she followed procedure and left a card on our door mat. We followed the procedure and called the number on the card and requested that our room be cleaned whilst we were out for the afternoon. We returned 4 hours later to find that our room had not been cleaned. A call to the lobby again ensured that room service were at our room very quickly but I should not have had to make a second call 4 hours later. Whilst cleaning our room we decided to go for a swim in the heated swimming pool. Unfortunately the heater wasn't working and we asked a waiter why the pool wasn't heated and he said that he had been told that the pool wasn't heated at the moment. When we discussed this with the assistant manager 24 hrs later she didn't even know that the pool was not been heated. For the expensive room rate that this Hotel charges i found these two occurrences totally unexceptable.View management response »

"Comments on Sails in the Desert at Yulara Resort"

The Sails in the Desert is an excellent location and provides great accommodation despite the fact that it is currently undergoing renovations. As a guest at the Sails in the Desert we had access to all resources within the Yulara Resort and further as an Accor Advantage Plus member we were able to use our Advantage Plus card for Dining. It provides a great place to rest up and recharge one-self after exploring the wonders of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. The room was top class and clearly had very recently been renovated. My only criticism is that there was no ice in the room mini-bar fridge which itself seemed to have been overlooked in the renovations.
"Sails - a Pullman branded hotel?"

We checked in and our room was lovely but the wrong bedding. The room had a view of Ayres Rock. We changed rooms and had no view. The room was clean and he beds very comfortable but this is branded a Pullman and I would have expected a little more. The mini bar had not been re-stocked and the toilet did not always flush on the first attempt. While the hotel is undergoing some work at the moment and we were aware restaurants would not be operating I just wonder why they shut down all restaurants and indoor bar. Breakfast was at Gecko's and was very good but it is a little bit of a walk particularly for some of the older guest or kids. The pool was refreshing and the staff very helpful and polite. The airconditioning on low is okay and quiet but turn it up and it is very loud. While I loved the trip I think for a Pullman branding hotel you need to improve some facilities and service. If it was in Sydney or Melbourne I think it is more a Mercure. Didnt get a chance to visit the other resorts so not sure how it compares to the Desert etc. I would go back and I would probably stay here again as it is suppose to be the best on the block.View management response »

To ensure the safety of our guests and to make sure that the refurbishment projects are concluded in a timely manner, we have had to temporarily close all of the hotel’s indoor dining and bar facilities. However, I am pleased to let you know that all outlets and facilities will be fully operational once the refurbishments have concluded (scheduled for completion mid September 2012). We have only recently been associated with the Pullman brand and are utilising this time during the hotel’s refurbishment to ensure our standards meet, and in turn exceed, the reputation of this well respected brand.
