Great hotel but food is overpriced

I have no complaints about the hotel or facilities - it's beautiful, clean and well run - but $49 for a rather plain burger is daylight robbery. I've had better for half the money.

Upgrade...not!

Poor. I booked and paid for a "luxury atrium view room". I like them because they are on an upper floor, sizeable at 45m2 and quiet (you hear the fountain, not the drunks). I checked in relatively late around 9pm and are given a small room overlooking the marina. I'd previously stayed in these before and asked not to be put in one again because they're noisy. You get drunks wandering around, road sweepers etc. I was only two floors above the pavement and had a couple out under me on their cell phones until 10.30! I shut the door and the air cond is even noisier and not working (could not turn it down) so I phone reception and she tells me she'll have mainteance look into it. I say i don't want them coming up at that hour, I'm going to bed. It does turn off but 20 minutes later she wakes me with a phone call around 11pm asking if it's turned off. Argh! Long story short, paid double what I pay in Cambridge thinking i'd get a great nights sleep and I got anything but. A five star hotel should at least have air con that works so I can shut the doors to shut out the noise and a smaller room is not an upgrade in my books.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. I have initiated a partial refund on you bill due to your comments. We clearly did not in this occasion deliver what we are aiming to do. In regard to the upgrade we are looking more in to views rather than size as normally the marina facing rooms are higher valued. Saying this you should see a rebate in the next few days of 50% of you room bill.
