« Nice Hotel »

Clean, quiet and comfortable hotel and very reasonably priced. Convenient undercover parking for the vehicle. The staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was above average and the service was great. The coffee was not very good.

« Overnight stay before Heron Island »

We enjoyed our overnight stay. Room was large and comfortable. Location is good but you need a car to get to Marina and centre of town. Buffet breakfast was included in our package and was good and plentiful.

Craig C, General Manager at Mercure Gladstone, responded to this review

Thanks garethl670 for taking the time and providing us with your details of you recent stay. I trust that you enjoyed Heron Island just as much as you did with us. We have a special relationship with Heron Island that if people are to book direct with us and are then heading out to Heron Island we can organise transfers (an added inclusion of the room rate) from the Airport as well as to the Marina the next day. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future to enjoy what the Southern Great Barrier Reef region has to offer. Regards Craig Conley General Manager

« Great staff »

Hi all. We really enjoyed our little stay at Mecure Gladstone. Everything was lovely and fresh, but mainly, the staff were all very helpful and we all have a lot of praise for them. I would personally like to recommend April who went out of her way to help in different areas after things were getting bak to normal after a power outage that greatly disrupted everything. We are staying there this Saturday night 14-01-17. The only thing missing is a good view, but you can't really do much about that. Loved it.

« Pleasant stay »

Friendly & very efficient staff at the desk. Felt most welcoming right from the start. Good location, next to the sports Club with free membership included. Very good size room. Great view of the colourful poker machines from the room windows 😁. Very enjoyable stay.

Hello Ron N Thank you for you providing a review of your recent stay at the Mercure Gladstone. We have varied views from our rooms, from views over the sporting fields, the suburban view and the internal views of the club. It is quite an eye opener within these rooms to see, from a height, the reception desk, members bar and further into the Club (dependant on room categories purchased). We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Regards Craig

« A confusing place - hotel, casino or sports centre? »

From the outset, I found this place a little strange. On entering the foyer you are greeted by a car you can win (I think), a reception desk, alongside which is a casino cash desk. Opposite is a bar alongside which are about 20 one-arm bandits. There are illuminated flashing advertising boards all over the reception area. I couldn't fault the room, which had a balcony and a nice view over the towns sports pitch, which I found out later was also part of the hotel. If you are the communal areas of the hotel, there are regular automated announcements about joining the casino club etc, a bit odd when you're sat having your evening meal or breakfast. Also, when having breakfast, there is bingo going on next door - at 8.30am! This place seems like a multi-use complex, but that is not made clear when you book and is just a bit strange. That said, the staff were good and as I said earlier, my room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

Thank you Martin H for providing such a detailed overview of you stay at the Mercure Gladstone. Yes you are correct that we are quite unique in the setup, being attached to a Sports Club. We like to think that we provide everything that a guest would require, from the spacious rooms to the two options for dinner, a bar for a quiet drink and access to a 24 hour Fitness centre. The Yaralla Sports Club and subsequently the hotel, is a non for profit enterprise, another aspect that is not well known. We hope that your next stay will be less confusing for you knowing the layout of the property and aspects which form the complex. Regards Craig

« Business stay »

Although not their fault, sleep was interrupted by the fire alarm. Otherwise it is always a pleasurable stay and I am making the Mercure my motel of choice. The room size is great and the choice of dining options is extensive.

Craig C, General Manager at Mercure Gladstone, responded to this review

Good afternoon mick030876 Thank you for taking the time to provide us with some feedback from your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back and making this your home away from home. Regards Craig

« Very Poor Standard for Accor »

Adequate accommodation but Restaurants (2) are not good - flies around buffet in Encore and sent back inedible meals at Pacinos restaurant before leaving. Staff polite but overpriced food is appalling!!

Craig C, General Manager at Mercure Gladstone, responded to this review

Thank you honeysuckle for taking the time in providing us with some feedback about the restaurants. May I please ask that you contact me directly so that I may gain more information in relation to the dining experiences as I have spoken to the restaurants and reception staff for information about your comments but they cannot remember any occurrences of meal being returned. I look forward to hearing from you and discussing your stay. Regards Craig
