"not at all bad"

Lovely and warm atmosphere but a bit expensive for the room size. Everything is very small, almost squashy. Impossible to walk freely around the room. Not easy to find, not the nicest street in the area. But slept as an angel. Great touch with around the clock complementary coffee in the hall .

Nice clean little room. If more luggage, one would be in trouble. Very nice service, willingness to communicate in English is a big plus in France. Nice breakfast at the tiny lobby. Very cosy.

"Breakfast service needs improvement"

As usual in France the rooms are small, but the hotel has been completely renovated in March 2012 and looks fine. Free wifi everywhere (although why you would need to refresh access every 4 hours I don't know) Staff were effective and kind.The only thing that needs improvement in my eyes is the breakfast service. The hotel does not have a kitchen it seems, and breakfast consists only of bread, jams / chocolate paste, fruit and coffee. As I don't eat sugar (which includes bread), it meant there wasn't anything to eat for me. A supermarket and butcher in the vicinity made it easy to arrange my own though.

"We love the new Hotel!"

Ibis Styles is great! we loved all the contemporary colours and new rooms. Water was provided to our Room and we could help ourselves to tea, coffee or hot chocolate 24/7...Our Daughter adored the Hotel, it had a little kids play area which she loved and the Room had pictures of toucans and parrots!!...she loved the free sweeties at reception too! Breakfast was including in our room price so we didnt expect much but it was great with ham, cereals, stewed fruit, croissants, pain au chocolats, cheese etc with really good coffee. Mathilda was absolutey brilliant on reception and a credit to the new hotel. When we are in Nantes next we will be staying here.

We paid 70EU a night for a double-room and thought it was good value at this price, The breakfast was excellent and the staff were all really friendly and helpful. It is just a 5-minute walk to the Place Royale, a great spot for people-watching. The rooms are very, very small but well decorated with comfy beds. There is a public car-park just up the road about 3 minutes way. One thing they need to sort out is the name of the hotel - it is still known as Hotel des Colonies by taxi-drivers and still has that sign up

"New Hotel"

It was brand new and will be good but is little to expensive. They still worked on the rooms.Breakfast was good.
