I have stayed in this hotel several times, and found the staff helpful and pleasant. No complaints with the food both good and plentiful.I have only once been lucky enough to get a room with a view overlooking Princes Street.Maybe next time.View management response »

The location couldn't be better. However, they ought to do some renovations in the rooms (fresh paint and throw out the awful brown cupboards). The hotel is for the time being not up to normal Mercure/Accor standard. I got a standard room facing the evacuation stairs (not a nice view) but on the other hand it was really calm and no noise at all from the street. Friendly staff at the reception and breakfast room.View management response »

"Well Located Edinburgh Hotel"
4th July 2013, AandKG, Wingham, Australia
This hotel is ideally located for visiting all the major tourist attractions in Edinburgh. It is within easy walking distance of most attractions, and has buses nearby if you wish to visit attractions which are further from the city. There are many restaurants located within a short walk from the hotel and the hotel is within the main shopping district. The shuttle bus to and from Edinburgh Airport stops just a short walk from the hotel.View management response »

"Great position and helpful staff, but aging hotel."
29th June 2013, Alex81Paris_France, Paris, France
Positive : Everything is at the hotel doorsteps, Waverly Station and the Old town. Staff is very efficient and helpful. Hotel is clean.Negative : Breakfast could be improved...Eggs, sausages and bacon might be nice once or twice but some more healthiers choices would be appriciated...Overall...the hotel is pretty standard and, I would say, aging...not the very latest Mercure...Bed are not exactly the kind that will help your back...View management response »

"One night stay whilst passing through"
19th February 2013, CWG81, Southampton, United Kingdom
We booked this hotel for it's great location on Princes Street and it didn't disappoint. 5 minute walk from Waverley Station and central for shops, bars and restaurants. We paid extra for a castle view although didn't stay long in our room and the same view is available from the bar/restaurant. The extra charge for late checkout was great, could stay until 6pm. Disappointing supply of tea/coffee in our room and had to request replenishment. Overall a great stay and would recommend.View management response »

"Value for money"
18th February 2013, Newcastle, Australia
The hotel is in a good location, conveniently close to the main station and the sightseeing bus starting point. There are great views towards old Edinburgh and the Castle. The evening meal at the restaurant wasn't very good. One lift was out of action and the remaining lift servicing 7 floors was slow. The hotel is worn and in need of refurbishing but has an art deco feel.View management response »
Management responseDear Guest, Many thanks for your valued review. We would sincerely like to apologise that your evening meal did not meet your expectations and that one of our lifts was out of action during your stay. We do hope that you would consider visiting us again when you are in Edinburgh as I can assure you your enjoyment will be priority to us, as all guests are.Kind regards, James FraserGeneral Manager
