Mercure London Watford Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Enjoyable NYE"

4th January 2013, puddleduck200, Chelmsford, United Kingdom

We went to Mercure Watford with another couple for NYE and had a really lovely time. We weren't sure what to expect when we arrived as the place looks quite shabby from outside, but we were pleasantly surprised when we got to our rooms. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Had a lovely meal as part of the NYE celebration (although 'champagne' was awful) and we were impressed with the effort that had gone into the decorations. All topped off with a yummy breakfast the next morning and we left feeling suitable stuffed and content.

Mercure London Watford Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Friday night away."

21st November 2012, Saxmundham, United Kingdom

My wife and I took the upgraded DBB option which was very good value. The staff were very pleasant and helpful despite being hard pressed with the number of guests including a French Coach Party. I opted for the a la carte fish and chips rather than the buffet which my wife said was excellent. The fish and chips was obviously precooked and then microwaved, not the best culinary experience, The room was spotless and well served with bottled water/tea and coffee making facilities. I would have liked a bath but the shower was adequate. The bed was Queen size and quite hard. Breakfast was excellent.with a full range of English and Continental options.

Management responseDear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to write your valuable comments with regards to the hotel and your stay at the Mercure London Watford. Firstly I will pass on your comments with regards to the staff to all departments and I am sure they will be delighted. With regards to the Fish and Chips please be assured that this is not our usual standard and I have asked the head chef to look into this. We do have a number of upgraded rooms available within the hotel, some of these just have power showers and other do have a bath and if you do return to the hotel please feel free to ask for one of these. Once again thank you for your comments and we do look forward to welcoming you back in the near further. Simon Smith General Manager

Mercure London Watford Hotel: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Fabulous Hotel, Friendly & efficient staff"

3rd August 2012, Barnsley

Wonderful hotel, very clean and fabulous rooms. The food is truly excellent - try the cottage pie, it really is terrific. The staff are attentive & friendly. The day I was there, lots of U.S. visitors arrived for the Olympics but everyone was dealt with efficiently and with upmost cortesy. Also the hotel is only about a mile from J5 on the M1 so it is very easy to find. It is a bit pricey but I'd recommend this hotel to anyone - it's a gem and that comes from someone who is not easily pleased.

Mercure London Watford Hotel: 5.0 out of 5 stars "A relaxing break away"

24th July 2012, AdorableTina, Harrow, United Kingdom

I was very pleased with the warm response i received when i stayed at the Mercure in Watford. I had a relaxing drink with my partner whilst waiting for our room. I enjoyed the amenities of the hotel with it's swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. I was impressed with the standard of room and felt very comfortable during my short stay. The breakfast was very delicious and welcoming in the morning. I even got chatting to some of the guests who were also staying as they were doing the Harry Potter tour.I would recommend the Mercure Hotel to my friends and family as sometimes it is nice to go away for weekends once in a while. I am thinking of doing a weekend in Birmingham in September so i will look into staying at the Mercure for my next short break as i will be visiting family.Thank you very much for making my stay enjoyable.Tina

Mercure London Watford Hotel: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Jubilee Weekend"

8th June 2012, linpin333, Norwich, United Kingdom

Enjoyed our stay. Food was very good and staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was adequate for price paid but en suite in need of refurbishment. Wash basin did not drain properly, very slow to clear and fittings looked old and past their best. Despite it being a double room, there was only one set of towels in en suite. Discovered second set of towels on top shelf of wardrobe when preparing to leave. It would have been helpful to have been made aware of this on arrival or for the second set to be placed in view on bed or in en suite. There was only one chair in the room and bearing in mind that it was a double room, I think there should have been two. Bed was a bit too firm and not as comfortable as some hotel beds I have slept in.

Mercure London Watford Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Mercure Watford 1st Impression"

30th April 2012, Lichfield

I couldn't find a hotel in the North London area this week so booked this as it was about the closest with availability.Pleasently surprised as the welcome from the receptionist was extremely pleasent and friendly, more so than expected from a 'Budget Hotel'.The room was at the back of the hotel where there is a couple of 5-A-Side football pitches which would not suit a night worker due to the noise but they were unused after about 8pm despite their popularity.Price includes:1 ) Car parking (lots of space but depends on arrival time as there is also a very popular leisure complex on site)2) Use of the swimming pool (which I did not utilise on this stay) and 3) Free access to WiFi in the communal areas which, considering the price of £60-£70/night (including Breakfast if you're canny enough to book the appropriate deal) I will be booking this hotel in future in preference to the ones I have been using despite the additional mileage in and out of North London

Mercure London Watford Hotel: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Great Value"

4th April 2012, Chobham, United Kingdom

The main reason I stayed here was the free entry into the Pool, and fitness centre as It was a base for travel to St Albans. The staff were friendly and the decor was clean. The picture on the linking website that I booked with did have pictures of the room that made it look bigger than it was. However the room was well equipped with television hair dryer, iron and trouser press.
