Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Well located centre hotel"

28th February 2013, botanicbill, Taunton, UK

The Piccadilly Hotel is ideally placed at the centre of Manchester and a short walk from the main railway station. Trams stop outside. The hotel is a good location for business and pleasure being located in the centre of Manchester. The room was OK, perhaps a little small with a generous bathroom with bath and shower. It was very clean but my sleep was disturbed by a very loud group in a nearby bedroom.Food was OK - I took the option of purchasing the half board option - with breakfast being excellent. A good place to stay in Manchester and good value at the weekend.

Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Poor service but great location"

22nd February 2013, gatesey66, Barnsley, United Kingdom

Perfect central location for everything in Manchester with on site car parking at a £15 charge. However, don't look for any decent service as we never experienced any! Kept waiting checking in and out for no apparent reason!

Management responseDear GuestThank you for your review. Firstly, I was pleased to hear that you found the central location of our hotel perfect and car parking was of benefit too. It was however disappointing to hear your feedback regarding your check in and check out experience. Your feedback will be shared with my Reception Manager, who I am sure will be as disappointed as I was, to hear that you were kept waiting for no apparent reason. As a 280 bedroomed Hotel, there are times when the reception desk can be extremely busy for varying reasons but what is key, is how the team deal with such situations and communicate and apologise to guests if they are kept waiting. I am sure my Reception Manager will reiterate this matter to his team. Many thanks once again for your review and sometime in the future I do hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in order that we can restore your faith in us.Kind regardsDavid Daly

Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent location and value for money!"

29th January 2013, Cloudramza, Singapore

Considering the good deal I got online, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and location of this hotel. It's quite close to the train station (one tram stop away) and right smack in the city centre really with all manner of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and even a really huge shopping centre within 5 min walk. Highly recommended place to stay in Manchester! The rooms are more than adequate although free wifi was only available in the restaurant and lobby areas.

Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Base to visit family"

27th January 2013, walshshe, Reading, United Kingdom

We stayed at the Mercure between Christmas and New Year. I had stayed earlier in the year and knew that both the location and quality of rooms were ideal for a two night stay with the hotel as a base to visit friends and family in the area. Location is absolutely perfect, and the quality of the rooms is excellent. Because it was between Christmas and New Year the rate was particulalry good and made the stay even better value for money for the quality of hotel. The Reception staff on both arrival and departure were particularly pleasant and helpful,

Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel: 1.0 out of 5 stars "The hotel where the Management don't appear to want guests at Xmas & New Year"

2nd January 2013, vacu, Manchester

Planned a night at theTheatre with my wife so booked this hotel as we stayed here in 1998 for a Conferance and enjoyed it.Booked in on Satuday 29th December to be told that between Christmas & New Year the hotel bar would close at 11:00pm that evening and if we wanted breakfast on SUNDAY (which thanks goodness we had not already booked) then breakfast finished at 9:30am. Websirte says Sunday breakfast is upto 12:00When we booked this hotel via there website we were not informed that would only be offering a 3rd rate service. They even sent me an email on the 24th December to welcome me to the hotel BUT no mention of any restrictions on the services. It totalled ruined are stay on what was a cold wet night in Manchester and a nice warm hotel bar would have been most welcome.Won't be staying in any of this groups hotels again. Barry Dugganp.s Staff were great and told that they didn't agree it.

Management responseDear GuestFrom reading your review, I can see we have communicated previously following your feedback via another method. My apologies once again that the restrictions we put in place on our opening/closing times on certain outlets within the Hotel, as a result of low occupancy levels during the festive period, ruined your stay. Please be assured that it is certainly not the case that we don't want guests at Xmas & New Year, it was purely an operational decision due to the quietness of the hotel. Our revised opening & closing times were circulated at the end of November to third party websites, as well as our own In-House Reservations and Central Reservations and I am only too sorry that they were not communicated to you at the time of booking or prior to arrival. It is a shame that your experience on this occasion has totally marred your opinion of us and sincerely hope that sometime in the future you may have a change of heart, and that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back.Kind regardsDavid Daly

1st August 2012, gary_runner, Wellington, New Zealand

I found the Mercure Piccadilly a very pleasant and convenient place to stay.It is close to all amenities such as shopping, public transport and some features of Manchester. the housekeeping was a little uneven.

Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Manchesters best"

20th July 2012, matthewsbigfrank, manchester

we stayed on a sunday which is probably the quietest night of the week.Check in was smooth and welcoming and the room spotlessly clean. The hotel must be almost in the middle of manchester so you can get anywhere at all.We ended our evening with a drink in the bar and looked out over Piccadilly Gardens and the City going to bed .Breakfast next morning was very good and toast was cooked and brought to you instead of the usual queue at the revolving bread snatcher.Great stay great price will do again
