Stayed here for 2 nights on my recent trip to Berlin for the Festtage 2015. It was quite easily reached from the airport by either X9 or 109, followed by a 5 minute walk (and the Schiller Theater is about a 5-minute walk away as well). To add to this, Deutsche Oper underground stop was just outside the hotel. The spacious double room I reserved was ready even though I arrived at before check-in time, which is always a pleasant thing. The bed was really comfortable, and though the room faced the busy main road of Bismarckstraße, once you close the windows shut it was relatively quiet. There was a lingering cigarette smoke smell outside of my room, but it was fine inside. The free wifi connection was rather bad on my floor (the top floor), but it worked well in the reception area. The staff were quite warm and friendly during my stay, even though I did not speak any German. Also, the morning buffet spread was great. I also really like the fact that they tried to have music/ performance-related decorations throughout the hotel.
I visit Berlin a few times a year on business and this hotel is the nearest to where I need to be. It has good rooms and a great breakfast. The bar/ hot drinks gets little use outside breakfast time but you are right in the city here so have so many places to choose from especially if you use the station on the U2 line a few metres up the road. My room on the 6th floor was smaller than some of the others in the hotel but still a good standard.
Averagely located hotel close to a very busy road. It's located right above the tube and you can feel and hear it when it passes (despite being on the 5th floor). I had to sleep with earplugs. The parking is conveniently located at the back of the hotel but the 2nd night, it was full and an alternative solution was found after a 10mn discussion.
Everything was great except for the internet service. High speed internet came with the room, but it was slower than dial-up and couldn't do any work at all. Being on a business trip for five days, this annoyed me quite a bit not able to do any work in the hotel room (Iwas in room 303). I complained at front desk about it and was quickly dismissed with "there is nothing we can do about it". Baiscally, if you are on vacation and don't care about internet connection, then I would highly recommend this hotel; if you are on business and expect to catch up on some work in the hotel room , then you should probably look for a different place.
I stayed here during a business trip at the start of March. The hotel is located in a great location, about 2 minute walk from Deutsch Oper station on the U2 line, which is 2 stops from Zoologischer Gardens. Across the street there are a number of restaurants and a supermarket right at the station exit. Can't fault the location. The hotel itself is quite basic, rooms were small, but clean, with a bed, desk, old school box TV, cupboard with coin operated safe and empty fridge. The bathroom was small with an awkward layout where the toilet was basically right in front of the sink, with the shower on the other side of the toilet. The pressure of the shower in my room was terrible, the water pretty much trickled. I guess that could have been fixed quite easily but as I was only staying a few days, I didn't report it. The bed was relatively comfortable, but even though I had a double bed, they gave two single duvets, which was a bit odd. I found the room was a bit stuffy but at least the temperature of the radiator could be controlled in the room. Breakfast buffet was quite basic, eggs, bacon, cereals, yoghurt, cheese and cold cuts. It was included in the room rate, otherwise wouldn't be worth paying for. There was a selection of teas and coffee that was available complimentary all day, which was nice. Wifi connection was decent, though you are required to login every time your device reconnects to the internet, which is a little inconvenient, but at least it worked well enough to answer emails and FaceTime. Overall, the hotel was average, like I said, the bare essentials, and at an average price of 100 EUR per night, was not great value for money.
