Gorgeous building set in fab grounds, breakfast was delicious and the room we were served breakfast was beautiful. The only downside was our room (NO.18). The bedroom and bathroom were poor compared to the overall building which was such a let down. We sat outside over looking the lake with drinks and it was total darkness, could do with a couple of outside lights. I would definitely stay again but request a different room.
We stayed at Madeley Court for 3 midweek nights in August. It is in a lovely location and ideally situated for visiting the Ironbridge area. We certainly enjoyed staying at this historic hotel which is full of character rather than staying in a concrete block! The staff were always friendly and helpful. There was plenty of choice for breakfast - with both continental and full English available.
Many thanks for your review. I am pleased that you enjoyed your three nights with us at Madeley Court and that my team looked after you so well. I hope that we can welcome you back in the not too distant future. Regards, Anthony Meadows General Manager.
Stayed at Madeley Court for one night for a Birthday celebration. Booked a standard room on line, but upgraded to a "Historic Room, Lakeside" for an additional 20 pds. The room was certainly historic, and quaint with a river view and 4 poster bed. However, the cleanliness of the room was not good, and the accumulation of dust would certainly not have passed the "Four in a bed test"! The bathroom was very dated (not to be confused with Historic!) with cracked toilet, loose ceramic floor tiles, and general disrepair. Again, you cannot blame these comments on the room being "Historic", there just needs some attention to cleaning and general maintenance of the room. Service also lacking when requested additional milk for room, after 3 hour wait, visited desk again only to find that milk store cupboard was just a few feet away from where we asked. Overall, generally disappointed.
Thank you for your review and I am sorry that your stay did not meet expectations. Please do be assured that your comments have been discussed with my department managers to address improvements. Regards, Anthony Meadows General Manager.
Having stayed a number of times this year, I have been able to judge the consistency of this hotel. The staff are professional and friendly, the food is of a high standard, the bedrooms are clean and comfortable. What more can you ask for.
Many thanks for your kind comments and I am delighted that my team are looking after you so well. I do appreciate your recommendation for the hotel and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Regards, Anthony Meadows General Manager.
We stayed in one of the historical rooms, very interesting to stay in a 4 poster bed with the original creaking floors and furniture, we enjoyed our stay it was convenient for the museums and attractions of Telford and the Iron bridge. We found the staff very helpful and friendly.
Paid the room only rate of £59.40, breakfast was an additional £13 per person, but we did not have breakfast. Should have booked the offer for the two course dinner over the internet, as we had dinner in the restaurant, which was quiet expensive, not particulary good and the service was very slow. Room very nice, although you had to come out of the main building and then into a separate building for the accommodation. I don't think this was indicated on the website. Lovely old buildings make up the accommodation, room a little cold on arrival, but heater in the room, so no problem.
Had to change room after one night due to faulty door lock. New room had broken bathroom floor tiles and could have caused cuts to feet plus no blind on window! Breakfast on first morning did not have cooked food on view (had to order separately) but was available buffet style the following morning! room booking stated small gift also available but reception did not know anything and had to chase up - chocolates in room when got back. Comfortable beds and Staff nice. Overall very good but could do with a freshen up on some of the bedroom furniture. Would stay again.
Many thanks for your review and I am pleased that, overall, you would stay with us again. I am sorry for the issues experienced which shall be reviewed for improvements. Regards, Anthony Meadows General Manager.
The building and setting is excellent, but sadly the stay was far from a real 4 or 5 star whole experience - and certainly not worth the considerable total bill which we ended up paying. We had two rooms - I can only assume that neither were the best in their 'class' - our Luxury double although nice, I know was not one of the better rooms in the hotel. The room my Mum was put in (as a single occupant), had no view, a very basic décor, and a generally 'cold' feel. It really felt as if the staff were totally overworked (probably due to a wedding party), - for example just asking for a coffee in the lounge felt like we were presenting them with a major challenge. The receptionist appeared to struggle with the most basic tasks, forgot to book our dinner reservation, and the person 'welcoming' everyone into breakfast was just plain rude. It felt almost as if we were treated as people with too much money.... not a pleasant stay...
Many thanks for your review and I do apologise for the disappointment experienced. Please do be assured that your comments will be addressed with my team in order to make the necessary improvements in customer service standards. Regards, Anthony Meadows General Manager.
This was our third stay at this hotel as both my wife and I really like it. It is in a pleasant quiet setting and the hotel is full of character. In contrast the rooms are modern and very comfortable. The staff are very helpful and polite.
Many thanks for your review and it is great to hear that you enjoyed your third stay with us at Madeley Court. I hope that it won't be too long before we are welcoming you back again. Regards, Anthony Meadows General Manager.
We arrived at the hotel on Sunday, only to be informed there had been an a problem and consequently a delay for us booking in. The problem was not explained so we were left abandoned in the reception area. The delay I think was due to two possibilities: 1. The hotel was over booked for Sunday lunch or 2. The hotels Wedding Fare was up, running and hopefully selling We eventually booked in some 40 mins late but with no reason why! The newspaper we ordered for the morning never arrived although we were billed. On enquiring why the paper had not arrived we were informed that it must have been stolen!!!!!!!!!!!! Which raises the obvious question does the hotel have a problem with this? We occupied the only room on the floor so this meant that the newspaper thief had to sneak pass reception, through the dinning area and up the stairs to snatch our paper or perhaps the paper was left on the table at reception and simply removed by another guest thinking it was free or the paper due to some unexplained error was never ordered of the Madley Hall ghost had struck: it certainly is a mystery.
