"One night stay"
28th January 2013, Fat5, Perth, United Kingdom
Hotel room was excellent. Had a problem with the shower but hotel staff sorted it without a fuss. Restaurant food is OK. All staff very friendly. Gym is a small room with limited quantity of equipment but the pool looked good. Free wi-fi always a big plus. Would stay again but would maybe try the curry house I passed on the way in.

"A pleasant surprise"
29th December 2012, rggraham1947, Luxembourg
We weren't quite sure what to expect as this hotel was only rated *** but we were pleasantly surprised; we had booked this at a special offer price and we had an extensive suite (sitting-room, bedroom, large bathroom with bath and shower), TV in sitting and bedroom, well lit (unlike the Dunkenhalgh) and a freshly-cooked English breakfast. We didn't have time to use the leisure facilities. Will definitely consider staying there in future.

"Nearly but not quite."
5th February 2012, HARWOOD60, CLEVELAND UK
First the good things: Excellent rooms, spacious with every facility - much better than you would expect for this grade of hotel and the staff are friendly and welcoming [ it is Lancashire!],However the overall package is not up to Mercure Europe standards. Breakfast day one was simply awful. Although much better the next day the buffet was still very sparse. I brought an A club e voucher - the staff didn't know what to do with it and passed it from person to person and it still wasn't dealt with when I wanted to leave. Small things - corridor fire doors badly adjusted so that every time they closed there was a crash - yes there was one right next to our room!! Car park unlit [the hotel is in the middle of the country] so finding your car in the dark was a lottery.I would stop here again, but I would skip breakfast, and would expect a price lower than the usual Mercure tariff.

Management responsethank you for your comments and I am pleased that you found the hotel enjoyable in the main. With regard to breakfast, this should have been to a high standard in which we are accustomed to providing for our guests. I have raised the issues in your report with my Heads of Deparment in the kitchen and Restaurant and give you my assurance that this poorer standard of breakfast is not reflective of the usual standard but the teams will ensure that such incidents or lack of choice does not happen again. I would also confirm that we usually serve our breakfasts by table servie and not buffet. We only offer buffet when the htoel is extremely busy.with reference to the A club e voucher, we have inititated re-training in this area to ensure that such mistakes do not happen in the future.i do hope you will consider staying at the Foxfields again and am confident we can re-establish your faith in the areas where we failed to provide the service which you should quite rightly expect of one of our hotels.ASsuring you of my best attention at all times,Gill Evans

"Mixed feelings"
13th January 2012, Pulborough, United Kingdom
Friendly staff, very good value (upgraded), good breakfast, it's a shame that the changing facilities and the area around the swimming pool are long overdue for modernisation or renovation. Changing rooms and area leading to the pool were filthy, even leisure club members in the pool were discussing whether the facility would have to close because members would leave.

Super location for exploring the Ribble Valley which we had never been to before. Many lovely villages and restaurants within easy reach e.g. Whalley village and the The Five Fishes restaurant. Hotel was warm and comfortable; the service faultless; the beds extremely comfy. We had the swimming pool to ourselves which was a lovely temperature. Furniture in room starting to look slightly worn but apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed out short stay.
