"comfortable and clean"
22nd February 2013, Melbourne
Lovely clean and quite spacious room. Close to town and RSL. Very helpful and friendly staff at reception but breakfast service and food was bad. The first day, they had run out of hot food; the second day, the food was terrible. However, when I complained, I received a refund.
"Big comfortable room with a spa bath"
31st December 2012, Liznnev, Surfers Paradise, Australia
We stayed overnight on our way to Melbourne, and upgraded to the bigger room with the coffee machine and spa bath. The room and bathroom were both very spacious, clean and up to date. The king size bed was very comfortable. The restaurant was very nice with a good menu. We had dinner and breakfast there and were more than happy. I recommend the egg and bacon bagel for breakfast.

"Our stay at Mercure Hotel, Bairnsdale, Victoria"
23rd December 2012, Accors, Melbourne, Australia
We spent 2 nights at the hotel. We were received well by the Reception staff. Everything in the hotel appeared spotlessly clean; the hotel being new may have been a reason for this. The rooms were of average size for a couple. The continental breakfast provided ($10 per head) was average. The extra charge of $14.00 per room per night to secure the booking was excessive and TOTALLY UNNECESSARY. I was not happy about it, but I had no choice because Mercure was the only good hotel I could find in Bairnsdale. Compared to the Accor hotels (Ibis) in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland we have stayed in before Mercure was superior.

"Great overnight stop"
15th December 2012
Cannot really fault this hotel and I travel extensively. Location is good since it is at the quiet end of town but possibly difficult if you do not have a car. Breakfast for $10.00 is outstanding (just continental) but for a nominal fee you can also get a cooked breakfast.Rooms are spotless and also quiet. If I was to raise a criticism it would be the absence of a walk-in shower. The shower is in the bath and that could be difficult for people of advanced years.Beds are comfortable and the room sizes are generous.

"Friendly, near-new hotel"
24th November 2012, Possum200
We stayed in room 250, a Mercure "privilege' room - it was a Monday night, and judging bu the number of cars parked on site, the hotel was heavily booked. We received a warm welcome, and found the room tidy with plain furnishings, a good king size bed, the usual fridge, kettle, toaster plus a Netspresso coffee machine, a pleasant bathroom (shower, no bath). We ate in the hotel's restaurant - competent meal, friendly service, expensive but the cost moderated by use of an Advantage Plus card. In summary, a modern, popular hotel, comfortable stay.

"Spa treatment"
20th November 2012, Garden_Pruner, Adelaide, Australia
We chose the Mercure because it is part of the Accor Group and we are Advantage Club members, for which we received an upgrade. We used the spa, which was ok but having to battle with the cover was a problem. The dining experience was awful: beef too tough to chew and a very indifferent wine list. At breakfast, a number of the items ran out. The room was good: a King bed with a firm mattress.

"First class new Hotel."
4th July 2012, Kalbarri
We stayed here as an overnight stop through to Merimbula. We found the place to be far better than our expectations. The rooms were large ,clean and airey. Very good tv reception and very comfortable beds(pillows a bit hard though). The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We ate in the hotel restaurant and had one of the best seafood meals in years. It was all local and fresh fish and good value. This hotel is a good find and recommended.

"Great country stay"
2nd July 2012, Morwell, Australia
Very well appointed regional venue that is above the standards that you normally expect away from the major cities. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice dining room and with good variety on the menu although a bit expensive for some items.

"Overnight stay"
15th June 2012, Kathryn C, Melbourne, Australia
We stayed here for one night on our way to Merimbula. We had had some concerns as to whether we should go as the floods had cut the Princess Highway off. I rang the hotel to get some advice which they couldn't give at that time as the roads were still closed, however later in the day they rang to let us know the roads were going to open. Without this phone call (which we did not ask for) we may not have gone. We were very appreciative of this. Upon arrival we were given our room, unfortunately due to the emergency services that were also staying here, there had been some confusion about our request for a disabled access room. The room we were given had a step in shower which is no use to me, but whilst we were at dinner, they re-arranged another booking and swapped room for us with a walk in shower. This was a relief and very much appreciated. The only downside to staying here is the traffic noise from the highway, but it was probably due to more traffic going through as the roads opened. Can't speak highly enough of the staff who are all very attentive and eager to please. Meals in their restuarant are delicious and well presented. This was our second stay here, having stayed with them at the same time last year (they had only opened a week before) and issues that needed to be address from last year to this year had been dealt with. Would stay again.
