"Tiny room but nice enough"
16th September 2013, 84travellingthrough, London, United Kingdom
I stayed here: tiny room but essentially fine. Gripe was with room service - slow and got my order wrong, then took ages to correct it. Well-stocked gym though didn't get time to use it. Free wifi throughout which was a bonus.View management response »

This is a well placed and very comfortable hotel. The room I stayed in was a small double, well appointed with a good size bed but not a lot of room around the bed. It was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was well presented and very tasty. The price of £44 for the room and breakfast including free Wifi is extremely good compared to other city centre hotels.View management response »

"My UK trip"

Lovely hotel, modern, clean and spacious. Dropping of luggage an issue and you have to leave your car in an private car park. It was also a very quiet hotel considering it is in the heart of NottinghamView management response »
Management responseDear Guest,Thank you for your review. I was glad to read you enjoyed your stay here with us at Mercure Nottingham City Centre Hotel. Our hotel is the oldest in Nottingham, constructed in 1822. During this time there was no need to construct parking at the hotel. However, the Lace Market Car Park is located around the corner and is securely monitored. We hope during your next visit to the UK you consider Nottingham again and enjoy another stay with us.Kind RegardsStuart PringleHotel Manager
"Nice but Noisy"
7th August 2013, Beandogs, Nottingham, United Kingdom
As a treat booked a suite for myself and wife on Saturday night for £149 including breakfast.Room very clean, nice sized en suite bathroom, 'suite' involved small side room with sofa(bed) and nice sized wall mounted LED telly (eat your heart out Nottingham Park Plaza). Extras like nespresso, tea and biccies, free wifi very nice and welcome. Parking at Lace Market car park, 5 mins walk away was fine, cost £10 when validated at reception. All good.Room face out onto George Street (2nd Floor), by two major late night bars, so despite good double glazing very noisy until past 2am in morning. But this is to be expected as location is right in the middle of bustling Nottingham city centre, great view watching the drunks bump into each other at night though, like your own personal ant farm.Breakfast in bed arrived without issue and was lovely and as ordered. Very friendly staff throughout. My main problem is that when you pay nearly £150 for a room with king/queen sized bed, you expect a king/queen sized bed with a king/queen sized mattress. Not two single mattresses pushed together with a cover. So gap and uncomfortable 'join' down the bed all night. This is really a cheapskate approach for otherwise very nice 4* hotel.Mattress excepted lovely hotel and staff, if you need quiet go high up and don't face road.View management response »
Management responseDear Guest,Thank you for writing your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us here at Mercure Nottingham City Centre. Our most luxurious rooms are the suites and combined with our little extras, give you that comforting feel. Most hotels now come equipped with 'zip and link beds' which have been designed to separate when required in order to meet the requirements of our guests. We hope to welcome you back to hotel soon.Kind RegardsStuart PringleHotel Manager

Stayed for one night prior to a meeting. Had been booked into a suite - room was a little disappointing - the sitting area of the suite looked like it had once been a wardrobe space which had been turned into an odd little squeezed sitting space. However the room was clean, the bed comfy and the service attentive for the brief time I engaged with them at check in. Breakfast was ok too.All in all a perfectly good hotel - just don't spend the extra on the suite!View management response »
