The San Domingo Mercure in Madrid is very conveniently located in the vicinity of the Centre of Madrid but also of the Old Town. Very near to the subway station (basically across a small street) connecting directly with the airport (ca. 40 min.). The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast treats all tastes. Although the double room that I was checked-in was somewhat smallish to the standard at Mercure's that I am used to, but the over-all impression is very positive.

The location was great, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The room booked by the tour operator was a standard room, which was not acceptable to us--much too small--so we upgraded to a superior room. The superior room was very nice and roomy. The oncly chriticism is that the bathroom had not one hook to hang anything, Not one single hook behind the door or on the wall to hang towls, etc. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay--four nights--very much and would recommend the hotel to our friends.

We had a great time at this hotel! The hotel was very clean and quiet. It was very nice to have the hotel bar near the lobby as well as the restaurant in the basement. We spent each of our 3 nights down there relaxing and unwinding from our day. The staff is very helpful and nice! The hotel is close to everything - we were able to walk everywhere!

Mercure Madrid Santo Domingo: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great location, nice staff, but inconsistent and sometimes noisy"

Rooms vary greatly; besides the different designs and furnishings, some are on the street side, with lots of traffic noise (even on high floors), and some with faults such as bad plumbing (water takes ages to drain) and so on. However, staff is kind enough to offer room changes if there is any problem. Room service is available but extremely overpriced: i.e. 22 Euros for a bowl of vegetable soup! Beds and pillows not bad. There is an interesting bar in the basement of the hotel.

I think Mercure acquired this hotel recently and invested in some renovations to the rooms. However, the overall felling is a bit disappointment, you can see that wash room needs update. We had several issues with the room:1. Got injured from a nail that was hiding in the carpet2. The safe was not working3. The fan was broken 4. Had a problem with a sinkOn the positive side the hotel promptly answered our complains and a service man was dispatched and fixed the issues.One other issue, breakfast: the price is 16 euro for a person. It is very expensive, especially when just across the street you can eat very tasty breakfast paying less than 50%. I think most of the residence of the hotel did do so

Small rooms, poor quality, cold water, central heating switch off in december (outside temperature 1-5C) good breakfast, fast internet, definately lower than four stars, neglected corridors and lobby, noisy wedding party whole saturday night

I stayed here on a business trip and found the location and services ideal. The rooms were modern and fast and free internet service (not always easy to find in Madrid). Breakfast which was included in the price was fantastic and the bar and restaurant were handy for client meetings.

1 - The room I booked was not available;2- They sent to a room with twin beds, when I booked a room with a queen size bed;3 - Finally I got assigned to a room which did not match the one I booked, that was the smallest in the whole hotel, and that wasn't properly cleaned, (hair in the bathroom, stainds in the bed covers and a CONDOM in the balcony!!!!!)4 - We weren't even assigned another room, instead they gave us 20% off.Quite shameful for a hotel of these standards, next time I'll take my business elsewhere.

great hotel, beautiful, great service, the rooms with the queen size bed are a bit small, but good enough for 1 person. the decoration of the room and the hotel is amazing. the food is good. and the location couldnt be better. I would recommend it!
