The hotel is located on the outskirts of Margaret River set within its own secluded gardens. On arrival at the hotel, check-in was very personal and we were shown around the building and given an overview of the history and facilities. You are really encouraged to feel at home and relax in the lounges and help yourself to coffee & tea. We were staying in the main manor building, which retains most of its original features and charm. We were in Merlot, which is on the first floor at the front of the building, and is large room with seating area and ample space to relax in. It is also next to the front balcony, which you can use to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. The only suggestion for improvement is to put a small shelving unit in the shower room as there is limited places to put your toiletries. There is also a small utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer which you are welcome to use during your stay which we found useful to quickly launder some items. Breakfast in the morning is exceptional, with a good selection of cereals, poached fruits, yogurts, and breads & pastries. There is also an à la Carte menu for hot dishes, which are freshly prepared to order. One evening we had dinner in town, and although walkable we would not recommend this in the dark as there is no pavement (sidewalk) and the hotel arranged a taxi (Taz’s), which was only $10. The other evenings we wanted to relax in the hotel with a bottle (or two) of the wine we had bought and were recommended Blue Ginger Fine Foods, which has a deli where we bought some excellent dips, cheeses and bread. On check out you are given a personal farewell gift of freshly made scones, which we enjoyed at The White Elephant Beach Café at nearby Prevelly before driving back to Perth to catch our flight. This was our first stay at the Grand Mercure Basildene Manor and we would certainly stay again should we return to Margaret River. I would certainly recommend it for its tranquil location, comfort and personal service.
Dear HaggisCH, It's always a joy to read that our guests have enjoyed their stay at the manor and taken the time to write such lovely reviews. Thank you. I agree with you that the road lighting along Wallcliffe Road is poor but as you said its quite easy to use the footpath in daylight hours and take a taxi back to the hotel after enjoying a meal in one of the many restaurants in town. In my opinion though, the best thing to do after a long day touring the region, is to enjoy a bottle of wine (that you have picked up at one of the many wineries), cheese & biscuits in the conservatory or one of the lounges at the manor! Hoping to see you soon Kind regards, Jenny & the Team @ Basildene
Excellent service including free upgrade and assisting with birthday celebrations for my husband's birthday. Immaculate rooms, very cosy & stylish. Fireplaces in reading rooms invite to stay for a glass of wine... or two. Beautiful garden, well maintained. Proximity to town centre with restaurants.

We had a great stay at Basildene Manor what a beautiful spot, the gardens are amazing and we had a room with a balcony overlooking them, the Devonshire teas are definitely a must and the breakfast was superb, our room was clean and service was very good, the rooms are fitted out beautifully to fit in with the whole feel of the Manor.

We had a great stay here for 3 nights. A beautiful room and the grounds of the property are lovely. Fantastic & helpful service from the concierge and all staff. Great breakfast each day. To stay here was quite pricey but it is one of the nicest places we have stayed at and I think worth it if you're looking for somewhere very special.

Beautiful, friendly B& B style accommodation in the heart of Margaret River. Service couldn't have been friendlier, accommodation excellent. Garden setting of a traditional manor house but with beautiful modern and well appointed rooms. Would highly recommend to couples looking for somewhere central yet peaceful in Margaret River. Fresh scones (with jam and butter) to take with us on checkout was a lovely departing gesture.

We stayed at the Grand Mercure Basildene Manor whilst visiting the Margaret River. The Manor was very beautiful and the grounds breathtaking. We stayed in a manor room which was a little on the small side but beautifully presented. Breakfast each morning offered a huge selection and included alot of local produce of the area. Service from staff was outstanding and always friendly. Staff also had a thorough knowledge of the area which was great for 1st time visitors. Would stay here again if in the area.
Dear Woodme1304, Thank you for taking the time to post your review after your stay at Grand Mercure Basildene Manor. We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful grounds that are lovingly tended to by our award winning gardener. We look forward to welcoming you again next time you are in the area.
A beautiful property with meticulously maintained gardens. The room and bathroom were spotless, with a modern, fresh decor. The only slightly negative comment I would make was the lack of shelf space in the bathroom and there was no dressing table to do your make-up at. However, these are minor quibbles! The service at reception and in the breakfast room was excellent - friendly and very professional. An added bonus was the laundry room, with tumble dryer and complimentary soap powder. It was a good 15-20 mins walk into the centre of town but the lovely grounds more than made up for that. Would recommend this property unreservedly.
Dear Nicola V, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay so much. Your comments regarding the shelf space and dressing table have been noted so that he next time we are planning updates and changes we can try to make changes to further enhance a guests stay. Again, we thank you and look forward to welcoming you again soon.
Wonderful place, great breakfast and peaceful sleeping. Thanks to Daniella for wonderful service, especially the scones upon departure. Margaret River is a fantastic destination for wine, food and scenery.
Dear RetiredWolf, Thanks so much for your review after your stay at Grand Mercure Basildene Manor. Daniela will be thrilled with your comments. It is always great to hear a personal thankyou for a guest. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.
What a beautiful place even in wet weather. We stayed just two nights and though our room was one of the smallest, it was a beautifully dressed room and well equiped with a comfy bed. The service is excellent and our complimentary breakfast was lovely with all the fresh preserves on offer, and the additional devonshire tea was a perfect way to relax in the afternoon. We want to return in the warmer, dryer weather and make better use of the beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Basildene Manor is perfectly placed just a two minute drive from the Margaret River township.
Dear Elaine F, Thank you for your review. Isn't it great when even the weather cannot spoil a stay. It really is a very special place in a beautiful part of the world. Again we thank you and look forward to welcoming you again soon.
