Mercure Samui Fenix Resort: 1.0 out of 5 stars "Terrible - Avoid this Property if you can"

20th May 2012, MumbaiDarshan, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

We stayed at Accor properties in Thailand on our honeymoon. This was one of the worst stays we had. Totally not worth the money you are paying. Don't go by the pics.We had booked for a pick up from the airport. We were informed that it would be a Toyota Fortuner but it turned out to be a Van and on arrival, we had to wait for atleast 10 mins for checking in.On checking in, the AC was not working and we had to relocate to another room. We had a villa room, but did not like the design of the rooms. It was quite uncomfortable. The pool is nice but there are hardly any amenities at the hotel. The hotel is too small and the beach sucks. You cannot swim in the waters as it is dirty and has lots of algae. The location is far away from any attractions except from the Grand Mother & Grand Father rock which isnt that great.I would advice to stay away from this hotel.

Mercure Samui Fenix Resort: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Simply Fantastic"

13th April 2012, weiliang95, Singapore, Singapore

I stayed here after a 1000km cycling event to raise funds for a Thai Childrens home, I am 16 years old and was taken care of extremely well by the staff, no compromise was made for our safety and comfort during our stay, the location is excellent for those who want to escape from the busy city with picturesque sunsets every evening and a calm sea view, Kayaking there during the evening was extremely enjoyable. Housekeeping was extremely quick, I left my room for 30 minutes to eat my breakfast and the room is done once I return. Generally, the hotel is clean, only slight flaw is the slight wear and tear of the bathroom tiles, other than that, it is perfect. I cant seem to find any flaws with the hotel thus giving them such a high rating.I am EXTREMELY happy that I have chosen this hotel for my stay and words cant describe how contented and grateful I am to those that made my stay PERFECT.Thank you Majinder for going the extra mile to make our stay perfect.

Mercure Samui Fenix Resort: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Staff service excellent"

18th March 2012, Maroochydore, Australia

From the time we were collected from the airport we were treated like VIPs by the staff - each one was friendly and helpful. The location is lovely - right on the beach and there are a number of shops, restaurants(the little place directly across the road was fantastic value) and massage/reflexology options nearby. Also one of the tourist attractions Grandfather/Grandmother rock was within walking distance. The hotel also provides free shuttle services to Lamai beach center a number of times a day and to the Fishermans Village Walk on Friday evening( this is well worth a visit). The pool area was lovely overlooking the beach. I did not like how many guests placed towels on the best located lounges and then did not use them until many hours later (sometimes not until late afternoon) - this was not a real problem however as there was always seemed to be enough other lounges. We used the complimentary canoe to paddle around the bay which was fun however this canoe was in need of some repair and we were told the others sitting on the beach were all damaged - I suggest that the hotel purchase a couple of new canoes as other guests were waiting to use the only one available - this is such a fun activity so a few more canoes would be really good. Our room had a lovely view of the ocean however was somewhat noisey in the morning due to the traffic on the road - In future I would request a room in the wing further away from the road. The only problem we experienced with our room was the drain in the bathroom was somewhat smelly however the staff were prompt in trying to rectify this - Thier attempts were not that sucessful so I would probably recommend a better treatment of this problem to remove the drain blockage that was causing the bad odour. Overall our experience was very good and this hotel was good value due to our Accor Advantage Plus Card. We would stay at the Mercure Samui Fenix again - the helpful and friendly staff make it a wonderful place to stay.

Mercure Samui Fenix Resort: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Room with a view"

17th January 2012, Brisbane, Australia

We stayed here as a family with 2 Adults, 4 teenage/adult children, (19-27) 1 grandchild. On arriving reception staff were good, spoke reasonable english, rooms were good, nice bed, not too hard, showers not always hot, great view from our room of poolside and ocean views. The one big downside was new staff that did not know how to run pool bar as they had all just started that week and although the Restaurant manger did his best to run between the kitchen and the pool bar, it all came unstuck with them having no knowledge of drinks, register and food orders. By the end of our stay after 5 days things were a little better, but I am sure with more experience this will improve. The staff were very friendly and tried to oblige us and did the best they could. A little out of the way into Lamai and Chewang, but quieter if you want some peace and quiet, but not if you want the action of the nightlife.

A stay in Samui is always nice, but a stay in Mercure Samui Fenix is even better. The team is great, the beach is litterally IN the hotel, and the cherry on the cake, the food is great! For sure, some could complains about the area, saying it s not in the crowdy Chaweng, but Lamai is a lovely area to discover!

Mercure Samui Fenix Resort: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Mecure Lamai beach, Koh Samui"

2nd August 2011, Boblaus, Sydney, Australia

Although this hotel appears a little run down the staff & service more than make up for that. The hotel location is quiet and fronting a beautiful clean little beach. There is a free shuttle bus to Lamai shopping centre and back a couple of times a day which you should take advantage of as taxis are expensive.

Mercure Samui Fenix Resort: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good value"

4th July 2011, Hong Kong, China

Stayed here in June 2011 for 6 nights and found the hotel to be great value for the price. The location is not so great, but you can stop one of the jeeps easily enough outside the hotel or it's no problem if you hire a bike/car. The hotel is relatively new and therefore nice and modern and clean. Would definitely stay there again for the price.
