"Very disappointing. Choose another hotel!"

We chose to stay here for one night because of proximity to station. Also I am a platinum Accor Club member. We thought that the Mercure chain was a level up from The Ibis chain. We arrived late at night and did not have a friendly welcome! My husband has recently had a knee replacement and was given no help with luggage. There were several steps at entrance and there was a chair lift which was broken. Reception were completely indifferent. We had to struggle on our own.Room itself was adequate, however, it was stiflingly hot. Temperature that day was in 30s. There was air conditioning, but it was making no impact on cooling the room. We tried to put it on maximum but after half an hour still made no difference. We rang reception and someone came to look at it. He said it was working and shrugged and said it was the environment. Consequently we had terrible night's sleep. Breakfast in morning was very poor for the price-limited choice and a small amount of overdone scrambled egg left. There were no staff around. On checking out, we made some comments and reception man was not interested. Generally the staff were bordering on rude. It was certainly no advantage being a platinum member. It has put me off staying at another Mercure hotel! The room rate was £126 without breakfast. We had a special 50% discount which was an offer at the time. I would have been very reluctant to have paid full price. I do not recommend this hotel!

Was in Bordeaux for the Fete du Vin.Plus side: Loved the hotel. Breakfast is excellent. Simple and easy.On the other hand:Front of house staff should make the extra effort when there is a baby. I was left to ask the reception each time for something new like "do you have a bowl?" (receptionist went back to her work), then, I had to ask for spoons and then next to heat up the food. Should do some improvement for that matter. Other than that, the hotel is in a good location (just few steps to the Tram C).

Staff were very friendly and helpful and had time to chat to you personally.Very nice level of style and cleanliness, would definately return.

This hotel is ideally suited if one has just travelled half way across France by train. Just a very short walk from Gare St. Jean. The staff on reception were excellent, most cheerful and extremely helpful. Everything was completed quickly and efficiently as they could tell we were tired after our journey. N matter which members of staff were on duty we always got the same degree of excellence. Rooms were perfect. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone who wants a great hotel to stay in with wonderful staff. The manager was behind them all the way and never hesitated to assist in any way he could.
