all seasons Magnetic Island (soon ibis Styles): 1.0 out of 5 stars "Not up to Accor standards"

16th April 2012, mtristram, Erina, Australia

The facilities did not measure up to the information on the All Seasons web site. There was no hot breakfast (only cold buffet) no open restaurant (which was not being renovated) no tennis court. All other leisure facilities were cordonned off except the swimming pool The tap leaked in our shower and flooded after showering, causing flooding in the kitchen area. The floor of the bathroom was almost permanently flooded. The lock on the front door of the unit was difficult to operate and was not fixed despite our complaints..Our unit was serviced for only trhee of the seven days of our stay Reception was closed most days after midday. We were not told about the transport arrangements from the ferry to the hotel so on our arrival at nine thirty in the evening we had to walk from the ferry, a distance of about one kilometre over rough and unlit roads. We were not told that the hotel was in receivership.. The location was good and the bed comfortable. The swimming pool was good except it was unsupervised and the lighting was erratic. Glass beer bottles were often found within the pool enclosure in the morning. We have stayed at many Accor hotels both in Australia nd europe and this was by far the worst. It did not measure up to Accor standard. We recommend that the All Seasons web site be modified to accurately describe the situation.

all seasons Magnetic Island (soon ibis Styles): 1.0 out of 5 stars "Disapointing stay"

15th March 2012, Collinsville

After booking this motel through the internet we later found that it was in recievership, this we discovered meant no bar and no restaraunt. In the room the TV did not work properly, half the lights did not work, the shower sprayed water everywhere except onto us, and the light in the fridge did not work. I wasted my complimentary voucher onthis motel and was not impressed.

all seasons Magnetic Island (soon ibis Styles): 1.0 out of 5 stars "The stay in this hotel was extremely disappointing - I will never stay at this hotel again!"

13th March 2012, Sydney, Australia

I am extremely disappointed at having paid A$372 in advance for a 3 night stay at this dump. I have stayed at this place 3 times before ( 7-9/10/2008, 14&15/9/2009 & 14-16/3/2010) and was very happy with all aspects of our stay but this time it was an utter disaster and I was very embarassed in front of my elderly (72yo) Austrian friend. If I hadn't already paid for the stay I would have definitely stayed somewhere else. When we arrived (between 4&5pm) the reception was locked. When the receptionist finally appeared they told us they weren't expectin us! The booking was made through ACCOR reservations! The room was dirty as was my bed - it had dirt in the bed and a gekko jumped out when I pulled the sheets away! There was no insect screen on the front door, no door on the shower recess, the soap from the dispenser in the batroom has been dripping on the vanity top for weeks! All of the coffee cups had dried up coffee/tea stains and the cuttlery had dried up leftover food on it. We had to boil up a lot of water and give it all a good soak in boiling hot water & detergent. The breakfast was a joke. Stale cereal, no fruit/salad, no yoghurt, no cheese, no ham - nothing. All there was was some bread, melted, 3rd, 4th, whatever hand margarine with bread crumbs from gawd knows how many toasts - it was unhygienic and simply disgusting. There was a hot water urn and same instant coffee / tea bags we had in our room. The selection of jams/marmelade was poor. Our rooms weren't serviced during our stay and when I questioned it I was told the rooms were only serviced avery 3rd day! Since when? The restaurant was indefinitely closed as was the bar. We ended up buying some food in a local supermarket for our breakfast instead. We have found out that 2 weeks prior to our arrival the "hotel" was placed into receivership. So what?! ACCOR has a responsibility to its guests and also to it's accreditation standards, irrespective! I have taken photos of some of the disgusting things we have found in this place and am able to provide them to ACCOR should they wish to see some evidence to substantiate my claims. I demand some compensation if not a full refund. I was extremely disappointed and embarassed.

all seasons Magnetic Island (soon ibis Styles): 2.0 out of 5 stars "Disappointing"

8th March 2012, Warwick

This hotel looks lovely in the brochures but has had nothing spent on it for a long time. Limited reception hours, Restaurant closed, Pool area shabby, The room had tape around the airconditioning, electric leads hanging free, no shower screen and various other things that were just very poorly presented. Having said that the bed was comfortable and clean and it did appear that the bed suite was fairly new - a bit of an oasis in the room!!! Apparently this hotel had suffered damage in Cyclone Yasi and it shows. The receptionist told us that the limited opening hours were due to skeleton staffing due to receivers just being appointed. The receptionist worked very hard to cover a number of jobs and met 2 requests outside of the advertised limited hours. The grounds were well maintained.

all seasons Magnetic Island (soon ibis Styles): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Free Stay (not actually free)"

4th February 2012, Townsville, Australia

Well I think if you are too expect people to renew your card you will have to up your free accomodation, we could not get a hot breakfast and its a very average place I think I would rather pay to stay at places like Peppers which is right at the terminal or the Mercure but the Mercure does not except free nights poor I would say!! And lets face it if you are on an island you want to be able to see the water??

all seasons Magnetic Island (soon ibis Styles): 2.0 out of 5 stars "Not Magic at All Seasons Magnetic Island"

2nd February 2012, perth

We were promised breakfast on the balcony feeding the lorikeets. On arrival we were informed there were insufficient guests to open the restaurant and they provided with a basket of frozen bread, cut fruit that was so old it was fermented and the rest was packaged. If you're fit, luckily there is a bakery in walking distance! The Restaurant is closed Mondays, as is most other eateries on Magnetic Island. Our room was inhabited by ants, management changed our room lock because they lost the keys and then we were locked out of our room in the sweltering heat! All Seasons Magnetic Island does not live up to the high standards we are accustomed to in every other ACCOR hotel we have stayed in. Our tip is stay in the fabulous Mecure Townsville and go over on the ferry to Magnetic Island just for the day!

all seasons Magnetic Island (soon ibis Styles): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Less delivered than expected"

2nd February 2012, Townsville, Australia

On arrival the staff were polite and helpful, however the establishment is old and it shows. The tariff included a continental breakfast which was delivered to the room as the restaurant was not opening for breakfast. We were not asked for any preferences, and, quite frankly, the breakfast was below par.The room was clean and tidy, but when the smoke alarm malfunctioned, it was not repaired before we checked out. One light bulb was blown, no plug for the sink or hand basin and no bathroom mat provided. Fortunately, there was a spare towel which was utilised. This was needed as there was no door on the shower cubicle and copious amounts of water managed to exit the shower cubicle. For the asking tariff, I would not recommend this establishment.

all seasons Magnetic Island (soon ibis Styles): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Brekky"

3rd October 2011, Sydney, Australia

There is no value for money as far as breakfast is concerned. $25 for toast, cereal and fruit - cheaper at Woolies! Expecting eggs, sausages, bacon etc. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Location okay - easy walk to Nelly Bay. Took the walking track to Horseshoe Bay was was thoroughly enjoyable.

all seasons Magnetic Island (soon ibis Styles): 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good property, few minor items need attention"

19th September 2011, Adelaide, Australia

We found this property a very nice place to stay, with a delightful tropical setting and facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was adequate for our needs, not very large but very clean and comfortable.A couple of minor quibbles which, we feel could be addressed. 1/ I requested a restaurant menu from reception and was told a new menu was coming out the next day,as the restaurant was not open that night we were fine with that. The next day the menu was provided and we were happy with what we saw. When we arrived at the restaurant that night several items were not on the restaurant menu, and we were told three items on there were not available,6.45 pm.This made it hard for both of us but we persevered.Food was reasonable, but when we ordered dessert, only two of the 5 items were available-no dessert.2/ A card in the room stated that to save water and power, rooms would only be serviced days 3,5 and 7 of your stay, that itself was no great concern, but as the floor was ceramic tiles, that doesn't hold water(no pun intended)A cynic would suggest it had more to do with wages, why the flannel? That said,we would stay again, and we have)recommended this place.

all seasons Magnetic Island (soon ibis Styles): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Allsorts resort"

12th September 2011, Perth, Australia

The gardens are beautiful, the rooms are cool, the washing machines cost $4, the dryer costs $4, and two were out of order. There is a hair dryer. The bus only comes every hour, not good, but they have a bus for the resturant which never seemed to be available to be used by guests even though its sitting in the lobby entrance. Continental breakfast was very basic but cheap and cheerful. Like the coffee. I did have a hot breakfast there and it made me sick all day. There are other resturants on the island thankfully. Room service and cleaning was shocking, the day our room was to be serviced they didnt even change the sheets or pilow cases, the bins werent emptied, dishes weren't done, foolr wasn't mopped or swept. Bathroom surfaces were not wiped down nor was the tiolet or shower cleaned. I complained and was told it would be done the next day and yet again it wasn't done, we stayed there a whole week and the room wasn't cleaned once.

all seasons Magnetic Island (soon ibis Styles): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Maggie"

11th August 2011, Townsville

Staff were friendly and pleasant. Room was quite small, a little dated. Bathroom needed renovation. Restaurant had delicious meals but a little slow to serve. Grounds are attractive, set in bushland rather than beachside, tranquil. Magnetic island is a great place to explore and we thoroughly enjoyed out time. It was a good base to work from.
