"Central location but feels like a backpacker hostel"
25th September 2013, StickybCanberra, Canberra
Very centrally located in Belfast (very close to the main shopping district) this Ibis felt more like a backpacker hostel than a hotel. At check-in, the reception was full to capacity with backpackers making a lot of noise... noise that, I later discovered, carried through to my room on the 2nd floor until quite late at night. The buffet breakfast seemed like a feeding frenzy, the sole purpose of which seemed to be grabbing as much food as possible to stuff in your day pack. Fortunately, the breakfast chef was always on hand (as were the restaurant staff) to replenish the quickly diminishing food with fresh supplies. I didn't get the chance to have a look at the other Ibis in Belfast (also quite close to the city), but perhaps it is a little quieter in both volume and pace.
"IBIS - Belfast City Centre"

Fantastically located to city centre - ideal really - while service at the hotel was excellent - one fault we had was that there was only two towels left - a bath towel ok - but really - any hotel i have ever stayed in - leaves minimum of two per person - otherwise this hotel is ideal for weekend, business or leisure travel - would return
"Not up to usual IBIS standards, unfortunately"

Upon arrival there were people well the worse for drink outside from the pub opposite, and the immediate area was a bit grim and intimidating. |It was much better by day,The hotel room was tired and grubby with the bathroom grouting and flooring needing some attention. The bed was clean and comfortable as usual for an Ibis and had air con for a cool stay. The view out of our window for depressing, we looked upon the 'yard' and landing of flats attached to the hotel, best to keep the curtain closed!! It would be even better if Ibis installed a nice vinyl picture on the glass to look at instead. HOW ABOUT IT IBIS??The car parking is about 150 yards away and may be a bit scary for many as it does not promote a safe feeling with it's very poor lighting and security. It is however free from Monday too thursday and six pounds at other times.Breakfast was a downer for us as thing were getting cleared up as we eat and the selection was limited and nowhere near as good as other Ibis hotels we have stayed in, noticeably Rotherham in Yorkshire. The tables were very scratched and need a refurb. The staff were on the whole excellent. I would probably try the university quarter Ibis next time.

Staff was friendly, helpful and goes out of their way to help you, especially directions to attractions out of Belfast. Comfortable room and close to the city centre. Room was neat and clean.Free wifi is a plus. Breakfast was average.
