"standard room has no fridge"
14th April 2012
room was about a 'ibis" size but was okay. we stayed 4 nights but found having no fridge a bit of a pain. they have a communal fridge down the hallway.The hotel is a wee bit out of town centre but is walking distance the Stoke shopping centre. excellent bakery there plus 2 large supermarkets . Churchs are nearby the shopping centre. Great fish an chip there as well.The surrounding buildings in this hotel complex have a english village look which makes the area around the hotel very attractive(no expense spared)We would stay again but you have to have a car to get into town,Parking no problem.Pity about the fridge

If you do return to the Hotel in the future I believe our One Bedroom Studio Units would be more suitable to your requirements as these have separate living and dining areas, large wardrobe, and a small kitchenette including a fridge. I am delighted you enjoyed our ’English feel’ and although we are a little way out of the city centre we are however ideally situated for guests wanting to view our wonderful region with the WOW Museum just around the corner and only minutes to beautiful wineries and vineyards. We are close to Richmond Mall and on route to the amazing Abel Tasman National Park main highway. We also offer a complimentary hotel shuttle between the hours of 08.30am – 4.00pm weekdays and 08.30am – 1.00pm weekends which can be arranged prior to arrival for airport collection and drop-off.At Grand Mercure, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. "absolutely marvellous"

this was a great hotel set up like an English Village, we had what was apparently a superior room, and it was wonderful with a lounge, kitchen and separate bedroom. it was even decorated like an English house.

everything was excellent I had my 2 brother in laws from Swizterland and they were in pressed with the lay out of the motel and services,style of the motel an old english look they both took heaps of the photos

"Excellent venue"

We stayed in the Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco Apartments for four nights. Our room was excellent - one bedroom apartment. Comfy lounge chairs. Plenty of room. Delightful grounds, plenty of places to sit in the sun and relax. No noise even being next to the roadway. Plenty of parking spaces. Would be good place for the family to holiday.

"Good value with luxury"

Hotel rooms ok , bit small , but regular upgrade to apartment is a real treat and much appreciated luxury. Very good friendly and efficient reception service , could be improved if you advise where broadband connection points are. Restaurant a bit too high class for business traveller , maybe coudl offer some more basic food for in room dining.

Stayed at the Grand Mecure Monaco Nelson for a wedding and can recomend it for hospitality, location,ambiance,food.,gardens,staff.Can see why there are so many Weddings there.Cottages all open out onto the lawn .

"Business Trip to Nelson"

Stayed for 2 nights in September 2011. Got upgraded to a suite upon arrival which was fantastic. Huge room with separate living room and bedroom. Felt like being at home rather than in a hotel. The only downside is that it is not near the town centre, but if you don't need to be in the centre, then the restaurant and nearby pub won't dissapoint

quality of hotel is excellent and service very good. Food at restaurant excellent. the resoprt is unique and very tranquil.Complaints1. The rooms were comfortable but the central heating was not sufficiently robust to heat the large space adequately. the bedroom was cold2. The lighting in the bathrooms is poor and not sufficient for applying makeup3. The lighting over the tables designed to do computer work is also inadequate4. There is no wireless system and my remote vodem wouldnt work in the area. this is a major drawback for business guests who do not want to have to pay extra to be connected to the hotel broadband system

In reagrsd to your internet concerns, the hotel does supply at guest request use ofn a Wireless Router which does give thorough connectivity for internet use. Perhaps in future when you return to the hotel we can arrange to have of these routers available for you during your stay. Most enjoyable stay - staff were very helpful and pleasent - radio was playing nice music in the room when I arrived - heaters were on and room very warm - nice on a freezing cold night. Gave suggestions of where we could have dinner that night, and overall may us feel welcome - Top Service

"Great value hotel"

We were lucky enough to get upgraded to a larger room for our stay. We were only there for the night, so we didn't get to see much of the hotel apart from our room. The town style of the hotel looked like it would be a perfect way to spend the weekend. The hotel is close to the airport, however, it's not close to the centre of Nelson. For our stay this was exactly what we wanted, but if you don;t have a car, this could be an issue. There are some good restaurants close to the hotel, and some local type bars, but if you're wanting something a bit more upmarket, you'll need to drive or taxi there.This is a perfect hotel to stay in if you want a nice peaceful hotel, or at the beginning or end of a journey through the west coast.I'd certainly stay here again.

We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the Mercure Hotel in Nelson. The room was small but very comfortable with a pleasant outlook, the staff were very polite & helpful. The food at the resturant was very good but quite expensive.
