We stayed in a one bedroom cottage for 2 nights. The English setting and appearance looks lovely however once you are in your room you need to have lights on all day otherwise it's just to dark inside, which is disappointing since it was lovely sunny days. There was a washing machine in the unit but no clothes dryer or clothes rack so after doing the washing I then discovered I had to go to the laundry and waiting until the one clothes dryer was available. There was no tv in the bedroom but the bathroom was stunning, although there is no exhaust fan so you have to open the window. The staff tried to charge me $248 when checking out which I had already fully paid. We've stayed in 9 hotels during our stay in NZ and this was by far the least satisfactory.
Dear jodym920 We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco; I will share your comments with our team. Please accept my apologies, as you had already prepaid, you should not have been asked to pay on checking out; that suggests perhaps we need to reinforce some training and processes with our front office team. Warm regards Nick On behalf of the entire team at the Grand Mercure Nelson Monace
Stayed two nights early December. The check in staff are great, lovely, friendly and efficient. My room was spotlessly clean, warm and well stocked. We ate at the My Kitchen restaurant both nights and that was very delicious. Again, great staff and excellent service. The only reason I don't give 5 stars to this hotel is because the location is a little out of the way (but near the airport) and the hotel rooms are a little small. I love staying here.
Dear CnC72 Thank you very much for your wonderful review on our Tripadvisor page. I am pleased to read that you love staying with us and that you find our staff to be friendly and efficient. I will pass on your comments to them all. I am also really pleased that you enjoyed your evening meals in our on-site restaurant. We look forward to seeing you again next time. Outstanding staff, quality bedding, linen, lovely rom but a little small. Nice views and Hotel reminds one if an European or English hotel, several kilometres from Nelson.close to Airport and good area for walking.
Dear Bruce J Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience regarding your recent stay with us. At Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco we have four different room types. Our Standard Hotel Rooms are our lead in room type and are 19m2. Our One Bedroom Studios are very spacious at 50m2 and our One and Two Bedroom Cottages are even larger at 80m2. We believe this variety means we can cater to a large range of different guest's needs and budgets. I am thrilled to read of your wonderful comments regarding our staff; the quality of the linen provided and the beautiful views. We certainly believe we offer something a little bit unique and special. Thank you again for your lovely feedback and we look forward to seeing you again the next time you are travelling to New Zealand. Kindest Regards Jenna Davies
Excellent location for seeing highlights of Nelson and friendly helpful staff. Restaurant had wonderful New Zealand fresh food presented and flavored with skill...worthy of any five star plus establishment. Really enjoyed the hotel setting and style. And quiet & unique buildings. We will be back next time we need to escape to Nelson :-)
