room was so cheat as compared with other hotel aroud augsburg. and the facilities are relatively good. but the location is little bit far from the downtown... theres nothing but supermarket right beside the hotel. and looks cheap hotel style.. walls of the room is just wood that lead me to hear something from other's room.
A very short stay, but the hotel was better than we have expected. Very clean rooms, changed towels even when we did not put them on the floor etc. Only problem was that our door code did not work for the hotel entrance door as well, but it wasn't only our problem, so later the door were opened and no need for inputing the code downstairs. The location is excellent in this price cathegory. Not far from the city centre, so one can even walk there and back, that's no problem. But if it was, man could take a short walk down the street to a bus stop. Surrounding is okay, the petrol station has quite cheap price, so it is usually crowded in the morning and in the evening, but non-stop market in it is very useful and the pizzeria as well. We did not visit the asian restaurant nor the Norma shop, so no opinions about them. Very good is free parking lot, where it's no problem to park. Breakfasts were quite okay, one day a coffee machine was broken, but otherwise everything fresh and tasty. The system is a bit odd as you have to announce your room number and then you obtain a meal tray and there is no other way to get cuttlery, this could be solved better I guess. No other problems at all, interenet worked in the room very well, but to proceed you must go through two pages in german, so this might be a bit difficult for someone. Funny was my communication with the receptionist, as I was talking in English and she in German as my German is not good enough to bring up thoughs so fast ;-) Considering another visit of Augsburg, we would probably come back to this hotel.
Personal opinion based on that in general I don't find satisfactory the quality of Ibis hotels for their price. Clean but naked room, outside of the city center, not very nice area to stay. Worse thing: we needed to extend our stay for two nights. We did it by phone. The receptionist only spoke German, therefore we contacted them through their webpage to know the price of the extended night. Their majesties never deigned to answer. Of course, the price of the two extended nights resulted to be more expensive than the original reservation. Unless in the future I would have absolutely no other option, this is the last time I use and Ibis.
I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel, after having to pay a little more than I hoped to stay in the city (not surprising during Oktoberfest time). It was easy to find, but about 20 minutes walk from the main station, so you may want to take a taxi if you have a lot of bags. Otherwise, it's an easy walk. Staff were quick and courteous, and it was easy to get in and out of the hotel during late hours. The room itself was clean and modern, with comfortable furnishings. There was a good shower, free WiFi, and plenty of TV channels. I was a bit surprised at the bed provided - a double, with an extra bunk bed above - I could have had two extra people to stay! - but I appreciated the extra comfort. There was a little bit of noise, so I think the walls were somewhat thin, but it didn't disrupt me at all. I had a nice stay here and would likely book again on a return to Augsburg. If you arrive a bit later in the evening, don't worry too much about walking far to find somewhere to eat. I ventured out into the dark and found a quiet restaurant, Gaststätte Wittelsbach, quite close by. Decent food, good prices, and friendly waiting service who do speak a little English - but will encourage you to try out your German. If you arrive very late, you can use an automated check-in machine in the lobby, which is great. I can't comment on the breakfast, but the coffee machine in the lobby was surprisingly good!
The hotel is conveniently situated on the outskirts of Augsburg. Reception provided a very useful map of the area with instructions on how to walk into the city centre. Facilities nearby included a supermarket, pizza restaurant, chinese restaurant and petrol station. There was ample parking on site and our room was clean and well equipped with free access to wifi. Air conditioning was particularly welcome as the weather was very hot.
