"Return from Tignes 2011"

When we return from our Annual Ski we always have a stop around 170 miles from Calais to refresh and get ready for the return to Blighty. Etaps are great for this, they are generally near a reasonable restaurant of some form or another and Laon is no exception. Smaller than some Etaps, but clean and easy to book and at a reasonable price for 1 night.

Pretty basic rooms, and for the sake of a few euros we would have preferred the Ibis next door! But, the friendly service from the young manager deserves a 5* rating and overall the hotel gave us what we paid for.

The hotel was used as a stopover on our way to the Alps. The hotel was cheap, clean, practical and not too far off of the motorway (c.4 miles.) The continental breakfast was good value and the kids enjoyed helping themselves. There was a smell of cigarette smoke , although not too bad, but it was obvious that previous residents had been smoking in non-smoking rooms. The town of Leon was a disappointment and appeared closed on a Thursday night.
