"Hythe Imperial."
5th April 2012, medwaybandman, Kent
A great place to relax and unwind. Will return again. Great location, channel view etc. Large comfortable room. Good prompt service at reception, equally good service in bar and restaurant.

An enjoyable short break let down slightly by the quality of service at reception. Spa getting a little tired. Choice and quality fo food excellent.

"Fab stay"
26th January 2012, Canterbury, United Kingdom
Great stay, staff friendly. Bathroom needed updating, broken tiles etc. Room too warm - had to turn off radiator & open windows in January!!! Excellent value for money. Traditional cream tea was gorgeous. Will definitely come back next year

"A bit of a shock!"
3rd September 2011, Cardiff, United Kingdom
We booked this hote at the beginning of June... we expected the payment to be taken immediately (why wouldn't you?) Upon arrival, we were casually told that the card had been declined and we would need to make alternative payment. Luckily the rooms were still available but it did come as a bit of a shock to suddenly have to make a payment which we thought had been taken 2 months earlier! We couldn't believe that nobody had bothered to let us know prior to arrival,Apart from that the hotel is fine, if you're looking for somewhere to stay that is close to the Euro tunnel
"Good hotel with significant limitations"
3rd September 2011, Melbourne, Australia
We selected this hotel because of its convenience to the Dover Ferry. Our room was unpleasantly hot and we could not resolve this even with the window open. No airconditioning. Our internet wi-fi failed to work in the room. Overall disappointing although the meal in the evening was excellent. Annoyed to have to pay for two breakfast trays when only one was used to bring our breakkfast.

"Unpleasant experience"
3rd August 2011, London
Scaffolding, builders and large green hoarding boards greeted us when we arrived at the hotel. (Although no mention of refurbishment or surrounding gardens sold off for redevelopment in the website). The receptionist was poorly trained and ill informed. When I asked her whether there were any tennis courts she replied that she didn't know, but added if there were, they wouldn't be there for long!! Room was large but bed extremely uncomfortable. The room was very warm and stuffy, carpets were stained and general decor and furnishings shabby and tired. Windows with sea-view dirty. Desperately in need of a refurbishment and well trained and friendly staff would also make a difference.

Management responseSorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay with us in particular our staff knowledge and the age of the rooms and their Victorian decoration. We are carrying out a full renovation which will keep the Victorian Style with a moderm feel all around the hotel. Thanks very much for your feedback.Kind regards, Fran Ruano- General Manager.

"Too Hot"
23rd July 2011, Burnley
Hotel is undergoing a major refurb but that didn't really affect the experience. The stay at Hythe Imperial was blighted by sauna like temperatures particularly in our 4th floor room even with the fan on and the window open all night this compromised a well needed sleep. Food was good but the topic of conversation at breakfast just came back to the temperature
"Excellent customer service"
15th July 2011, Bingley
We were on our way to France so we only stayed the one night but were very glad that we did. The male receptionist who checked us in was extremely helpful. He gave us great directions for the chunnel; helped me sort out my a.club vouchers and was a model example of what excellent custoner service looks and feels like. In the morning we needed to be away before normal breakfast service. Again the staff were very accomodating letting us eat continental and as the warm food came out we were able to enjoy a bacon buttie - perfect!!We would definitely recommend to friends. The location on teh sea ffront was an unexpected bonus for the start of our holidays.

"RUBY WEDDING CELEBRATION"
14th July 2011, HERNE BAY
I booked this hotel as it had been recomended to me by some friends, it did live up to our expectations, in all ways, yes it is an old building with funny nooks and cranies, but thats what is nice about it. The sevice you get is good from all areas, from reception throu to dinning, we had a nice meal well presented, at a table for 10, with good waitresses, myself. my wife, our 4 grown up children and their partners, had a great time.
