Just had a couple of days stopover at this hotel. Very pleasant and helpful staff, extremely clean and neat housekeeping - well done. Shame the bar is only open at lunchtime and in the evenings, since we arrived at 3.30pm gasping for a beer!
Dear John, We really thank you for your visit in Mercure Angers Centre Gare ans spent time to leave us a really nice comment. Just to lets you know that our bar is open every day until 11pm. I think that you spoke about the restaurant just next door, which is open every day for lunch and dinner. Next time we will propose you something to refresh you at your arrival. Have a nice day, Best regards
We stayed in Angers for one night on our way back to the UK. The hotel is probably one of the smaller Mercures but the quality is still there. Particularly the girls we came across on reception and in the breakfast room. They all had a smile on their faces and couldn't have been more helpful. We had booked a standard room but got an upgrade to a privilege room. This was well appointed if a little on the small side. It faced the main road and there was a tram stop just outside our window. However, we weren't bothered by extraneous noises and for one night, it was just right for us. Free, complimentary soft drinks in the fridge, a good WiFi signal, robes and slippers and a comfortable bed. Just what we wanted! Although advertised as having a car park, we were directed to a public underground car park some 100 metres away. However, we were able to unload our cases before going to the car park and, on our return, found that the receptionist had already moved them to our room. The location is good for exploring the old part of Angers. There are numerous restaurants/bars close to the hotel including one next door and we chose to dine in one of these. Breakfast was buffet style and when we arrived, we found a coach party already in the room. However, the staff made sure that all items were soon replenished and we wanted for nothing. Our overall verdict - a comfortable hotel in a good location with great people!
Booked room in advance on Mercure website for 2 day stay, 4 days prior to the first night i tried to cancel and was told that since i paid in advance no refund was available for the full stay. Manager and Accor customer service were unable/unwilling to help. Find another hotel in Angers and if there are no other options do not pay in advance.
Great place for an overnight stop over. Very helpful staff. We had adjoining rooms which was perfect for our teenage kids and very spacious. The hotel does have some parking but it is underground so if like us, you are travelling with a top box you will need to use the public car park down the road.
We'll sited, easy access to shops, cathedral, chateau etc. No on site parking but covered parking about 5 minutes walk away at a reasonable price (22 hours = €17). Lovely city, plenty to see, loads of restaurants, cafés, bars etc. Staff very attentive, well appointed room, good breakfast choice albeit a bit expensive (€15.90 per person). Will stay again
Very nice hotel located near to the sights in Angers. Polite staff. It was difficult for the hotel restaurant that seems to specialize in raw meat dishes to deliver a well done meat patty in a hamburger even after identified as not cooked to customer's preference but very nice beef tartar and meat fish carpaccio of all varieties. I'd stay their again but eat elsewhere.
We had an excellent experience at check-in, with the receptionist being very warm, friendly and helpful in advising on street parking and getting around the city. Check-out was smooth and without issues either. Top points for service. The location of the hotel is very central, and within walking distance to the cathedral, and the chateau which we visited. The train station is also within walking distance. Despite the central location, we did not find it noisy at all, and managed to sleep well. The room itself was of slight concern. Power is activated when you slot your key card into a device on the wall. The case of the slot fell off before we managed to fit the card in. We did manage to get electricity in the room all the same. The table lamp was not working, and the shower head did not attach properly so it was a bit of a circus act trying to take a shower. These are minor complaints, and all easily fixed with some routine maintenance. The management should look into this matter. That aside, housekeeping was brilliant, and we found the room and general areas of the hotel to be spotless.
The overall review is good but there could be some improvements. 1. The receptionist did not appear to be aware that I had specifically indicated I would require a garage space for a car. This was not a problem though the initial reaction was to tell me the hotel only had limited spaces. 2. There was no milk in one of the rooms to drink with coffee/tea 3. There was no bottled water in one of the rooms. Small issues which are easily corrected.
