"Great value but noisy guests"

Very helpful staff both in the reception and restaurant at the Mercure (nobody on site at the Ibis across the road where we had booked our room). The place seemed slightly understaffed but that didn't create any problems for us. Leysin is a typical winter resort and a quiet place in the summer. Unfortunately a large number of kids/youth staying at the hotel (attending language school?) made this a very noisy experience for us. Still, the hotel is good value and the surroundings spectacular all year around.

On arrival; slight challenge to find a car parking space near the hotel but very helpful at check-in. Room average but bed good, plenty of sapce and views good. Toilets clean but no bath plug. Tasty vegetarian option in restaurant for evening meal but first course service slow for no apparent reason and obviously left under the heat light for ages. Breakfast buffet; good selection and good views. A variety of walks from the hotel into the mountains; some short and easy , others more of a challenge and can take the whole day. Cable car for the skiers within 200m or so. Large public swimming pool very nearby. I would class this as an average hotel but that is not to be derogatory. There was first class help from reception at all times and the pre-booked room rate was a bargin. Internet access was free in the lobby and expensive in the room.
