Mercure Calais Centre: 4.0 out of 5 stars "One night in Calais"

12th May 2012, London

My wife and I often travel through Calais on our way back from continental touring. Ever since its refit the Mercure Calais Centre has been a most pleasant stopover. Its location is good, the reception friendly and professional and the rooms are spotless and well equiped. If there is one drawback then it is that you do not necessarly get the best rates if you book online. If you phone the hotel is usually but not always better.

Mercure Calais Centre: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good and reliable"

4th May 2012

Stayed again, pre tunnel. Now have to pay 15 euros for their carpark... And this time a smaller room with very small bathroom. Breakfast excellent, mainly because of the Manageress's enthusiastic attention to every detail - she provides great service. This time little English spoken eg. at Reception, but that's our problem for not learning French!

Mercure Calais Centre: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Don't be put off by the location"

4th August 2011, Forfar

The location of this hotel is a bit 'downmarket' and the outside signage makes it quite difficult to locate at a busy time of the day. Inside, however, the finish in the bedroom is well above that experienced in other town centre Mercure Hotels (the best of at least 4 I have used recently in France) and makes up for the disappointing external environment . Locations for eating out are many and close by but most are also rather downmarket - but, the advice from Reception staff about nearby superior restaurants is excellent and well worth following.

Mercure Calais Centre: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Mercure Calais centre"

Excellent location. Have stayed many times. Superb very secure car park at rear of hotel.

Mercure Calais Centre: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Etape Calais"

30th December 2010, Oxford

Hotel not easy to find because hotel sign not sufficiently illuminated in large number of lit signs on the street. Nearby brasseries very good. Sleep disturbed - unable to regulate heating in room - too warm. Very convenient for the ferry terminal.

Mercure Calais Centre: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Great location, excellent staff"

30th December 2010, Amsterdam

We stayed two nights in total and found this an ideal hotel, in the town centre. Secure parking was very useful. The receptionists welcomed us very well both times. A later arrival than planned because of delays with Eurotunnel was no problem, we could arrive when we liked and our room would be kept for us. The window shutter in our original room was jammed - no problem, we were immediately offered another room, which was clean and practical. Breakfast was excellent. We were impressed by the service. Some light sleepers might find the piano bar across the road rather noisy... ask for a room on the other side.
