"Centrally located and reasonably-proced"
21st May 2012, Sydney
If you want a centrally-located hotel in Melbourne, with some old-world features retained, try the Kingsgate. The rooms are quiet, with a good firm mattress on the bed, and for those who do not like a fully-airconditioned environment, you can open the windows, or use the individual room air-conditioner, as you wish.My only complaint - with the large flat-screen TV on the back of the desk, the working surface is a bit narrow for use with a lap-top as well. The Bergerac Restaurant next door has some very enjoyable French food on offer.
"Great but ......problems with booking on line charged twice tech fault with you web site"
19th May 2012, PatriciaMcKeeman, Melbourne, Australia
Great value but when booking through the internet site problems arose,an erorr message appeared saying no rooms available & no transaction recorded but 24 hours later a charge & booking apeared via e-mail, Before this happened I had rung the call centre & booked & paid over the phone & explained what had happened with the web site ,but they seemed unwilling to help ,call the hotel & the hotel said call the call centre ????so I was charged twice,Nobody at the call centre could help cancel the 2nd unwarranted booking. The only reason I did ultimately get not charged twice was because there was not enough money in the account to cover two bookings, very dispapointing due to the fact it was your web sites technical fauty but my problem,Manager at hotel was very helpful.

"Good value"

Good value for $$. Saw some reviews that were bad and it almost put us off but definitely didn't deserve those.
"Pleasant Stay in Melbourne"
18th May 2012, smi_rusty, Parramatta, Australia
Very close to Southern Cross station. Connectivity to Tullamarine Airport is excellent through Skybus terminal. Close to free City circle tram and free tourist shuttle. Price is reasonable and best part was that the breakfast was included in the price.
"SLEEPLESS"
10th May 2012, mpalazzol, Melbourne, Australia
We have stayed in Accor hotels all around the world, and this is worst hotel we have encountered. It is not up to Accor standard, the hotel is old and worn out, the car park is a 10 minute walk away in a shopping centre car park, the heater was a very small fan forced electric heater just sitting on the floor, sleeping was virtually impossible due to the thumping music coming from the nearby nigth clubs, Melbournians would know about the possibility of loud music due to the King st location, but people from interstate or overseas should be warned that you cannot sleep when the clubs are operating, overall a very disappointing experience, will never stay there again.

Management responseDear mpalazzol,Thank you for your comments about your recent stay at the All Seasons Kingsgate Hotel. We’re disappointed to hear that you were unhappy with your time with us.I’m sorry to hear that you thought our hotel was not up to standard. Our recent refurbishment has tried to retain the elegance of the 1926 building while modernising our facilities but we understand its history makes it quite different from other Accor properties. Unfortunately our CBD location means we are unable to provide onsite parking. Apologies that you found the deal for our guests with the carpark at Southern Cross Railway Station an inconvenience. As you have picked up the King St location of our hotel means we are occasionally troubled by noise from the nightclubs on this strip. We are working on ways to address the noise issues which challenge our guest’s ability to have a peaceful stay in our hotel. Your feedback is helpful and it is something we can use in submissions to the Liquor Control Commission and Melbourne City Council as we work towards making the surroundings of the hotel quieter.I appreciate you sharing your concerns, and I hope that you will give the All Seasons Kingsgate Hotel the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.Sincerely,Rob UnsonAll Seasons Kingsgate General Manager

"Fly in, fly out"
9th May 2012, JohannaBD, Launceston, Australia
I stayed at the Kingsgate Hotel for business. It's location is central (across the road from Southern Cross Station) and near restaurants, plus public transport is close by. The staff are very helpful and the room was clean and comfortable.
"convenient accomodation"
30th April 2012, khancm2, Swan Hill, Australia
very convenient accomodation at a reasonable rate.Reception and meals area assessable and professional.
"Very old and in need of a total upgrade"
18th April 2012, Brisbane
The hotel is well situated, fortunately there was an excellent French restaurant next to the Hotel, which made my stay better.Walking through the corridores gives you a feeling of being enclosed and I would dread being caught in a fire or emergency evacuation.I had to be relocated to another room to get TV reception. The staff tried hard but it is an uphill battle for them.Wouldn't recommend this one.

Management responseDear traveller,Thank you for your feedback and I’m sorry that your stay at the All Seasons Kingsgate Hotel didn’t meet your expectations.I’m sorry to hear you thought the hotel wasn’t up to standard. Our recent refurbishment has tried to retain the elegance of the 1926 building while also modernising our decor and rooms. While the corridors wind around the design of the hotel, we do have a practiced evacuation plan in order using two different staircases. I apologise about the TV not working in your original room and am glad to hear that we were able to more you to another room while we fixed the other TV.Thanks again for the feedback and I hope that if we do welcome you back to our hotel that we are able to provide a more enjoyable stay.Sincerely,Rob UnsonAll Seasons Kingsgate General Manager

Well priced good value and well located. Ideal for what I was doing and I would be happy to stay there again.
"Centre of Melbourne"
3rd April 2012, Brisbane, Australia
I stayed at the Kingsgate Hotel. Great budget hotel right in the centre of Melbourne. Close to everything including Southern Cross Station, Melbourne Aquarium, Crowne Casino & Ethihad Stadium. Staff were very helpful with all my enquiries and questions.Room wasnt anything fancy and I didnt have a view ( unless airconditioning units from other rooms is classed as a view). But the room was clean and furnished with modern attire, as well as servied daily. The room was quiet for a good nights rest and well priced.Continential breakfast was included in the price and this was satisfying. On the last day I upgraded to a hot cooked breakfast (for a small change), but felt that even though it was presented well it was average .Overall it was a good stay and I would gladly stay here again, next time Im in Melbourne
"Another nice stay"
1st April 2012, Gjm1312, Melbourne Au
Customer service and maintenance are so important but so often over looked by management. I stayed in this same room 3 months ago and it was close to perfect. This time reception staff were rude and condescending, and the air con wasn't working. The room its self was still roomy, clean and modern. Still highly recommend this hotel especially the budget traveller who still likes their comforts. . The superior rooms are excellent value.

We’re pleased to hear that you were happy with your overall stay with us.I apologise for any problems you had with our staff at the hotel. Our employees are friendly, diligent and helpful but there are some occasions when the hotel is busy where service can be slow and below average. This doesn’t happen often and I’m very sorry. I also apologise that your air con wasn’t working; we’ll make sure everything is working properly for your next stay. Thanks again for the feedback and I hope when we do welcome you back to our hotel that we are able to provide an even more enjoyable stay.Sincerely,Rob UnsonAll Seasons Kingsgate General Manager

"is this an accor hotel"
23rd March 2012, Christchurch, New Zealand
The worst so far of an accor hotel ive ever been too.Very noisy room and building, wouldnt recommend it.Sleep quality was greatly reduced thus i started paying attention to other minor stuff-air conditioning humms throughout its function,passage/corridor echos all random sound, staff impersonal.i realise its a renovated old building and the picture on the website potrays a wrong message-i trust any hotel branising the accor brand but this just must be the bottom of the pot.My tips, dont be like me and trust blindly,do your research, and read reviews,if you planning to drive,dont-they dont have a carpark in the building, you will have to walk a few hundred meters to the nearest public carpark, which although a bit cheaper if you get a card from reception, its still AUD22 for an exit.Well atleast i got a story to tell.

Management responseDear traveller,Thank you for your feedback and I’m sorry that your stay at the All Seasons Kingsgate Hotel didn’t meet your expectations. I sincerely apologise for the noise from the hotel that you experienced in your room during your stay. As you've picked up, the hotel was constructed in 1926 which means that the building still has some piping and exhaust fan noise issues. We are currently working on a way to keep this noise to a minimum. I'm also sorry for the extra noise from within the hotel. Unfortunately not all of our guests respect others in the hotel and can create noise in the corridor and their rooms espcially during busy times like the Grand Prix. In regards to parking, our CBD location means that we are unable to provide onsite parking. I apologise you found the walk to the carpark too far and that you found the rate too expensive.I once again thank you for your comments as it allows us to work to better improve our hotel for you and for our future guests. Sincerely,Rob UnsonAll Seasons Kingsgate General Manager

Foxtel would have topped off a value for money stay.Great location for the Australian Grand Prix. Would stay stay there again
"Not Happy"
19th March 2012, Cairns
Booked in for three nights after viewing the rooms on Accor's website thought it was value for money but after staying for one night was so disgusted booked out and went to another motel. It is very old, dirty, noisy, the bed was the worst we have slept in in years our room was near the elevotor and we could hear it going up and down all night. We think it is a good motel for backpackers who are looking for a cheap place to stay and don't care about the rooms but is not very good for families. We have stayed at a few Accor's motels and this not not up to their standard. We would like a full refund because if we had of stayed there for the 3 nights we were in Melbourne it would have ruined our holiday. We moved to Accors Novetel and that was a lovey motel.

We’re disappointed to hear that you were unhappy with your time with us.I’m sorry to hear that you thought that our hotel and your room weren’t up to standard. Our recent refurbishment has tried to retain the elegance of the 1926 building while also modernising our rooms. Management responseDear traveller,Thank you for your feedback and I’m sorry that your stay at the All Seasons Kingsgate Hotel didn’t meet your expectations. The layout of our hotel unfortunately means that some of our rooms do not receive much natural light. I would recommend asking reception to assist with changing you to a room with more light if our availability allows it. I’m sorry that you were not assisted with your bags up the stairs in our hotel entrance; front desk staff are more than happy to help if you let them know you need a hand. Thanks again for the feedback and I hope that if we do welcome you back to our hotel that we are able to provide a more enjoyable stay.Sincerely,Rob UnsonAll Seasons Kingsgate General Manager

"Kingsgate Hotel"
16th March 2012, Brisbane, Australia
Hotel was in the perfect position, within walking distance to the Bourke St Mall and Spencer St Train Station. However, we were woken up at 4.30am one morning due to a fire alarm going off by accident so this definitely decreased the sleep quality. Also quite noisy and can hear everything the is going on in the hallways and in the rooms next to you.Rooms are very basic, not much storage space and our shower leaked causing a massive puddle to form in our bathroom as there was no drain for the water to be released. Room is fine if you're on a budget and just looking for a place to sleep and get ready.

"Great but short of my expectation for an All Seasons Hotel standard"
15th March 2012, Perth
I had stayed in other All Seasons hotel group, thus I expected Kingsgate to be similar, simple but with enough amenities. But it looked almost like a backpacker with clean towels and bathroom floor mat only.Regardless of that, the hotel was clean and the bed was comfortable.
"Stay at King street"
14th March 2012, Shepparton
Decore was horrid, rooms small but I guess budget motel is a good discription. I used a Complimentary night which was a waste. The fire alarm went off in the early morning and evacuation was confussing, it was a fire extinguisher that went off caused alarm, we were told to go back to room by fireman, nothing from the staff. It was hard to get back to sleep and then we got a call from reception after 10 that we had gone past check out time and we needed to go. No explaination or apology about the disturbance.

"great location"
13th March 2012, Brisbane, Australia
Great central location in the city. My room was not very clean at all. There was still chips on the carpet beside the bed from previous guests and the coffee cups when i went to use them were obviously used and hadnt been cleaned. The carpet really needed a good vaccum, alot of dust. Staff very nice and helpful, just not the cleanest of rooms for the price we paid.

"review of Kingsgate hotel"
7th March 2012, Mooroopna, Australia
it was cheap accomadation for 4. Breakfast was a great bonus.A second bathroom would have been handy with 4 females all trying to get ready in the morning. Whoever thought of black and lime green decor in the corridors was crazy. The original timber would have been much nicer.
"Like sleeping in a prison"

The hotel was very good. Cheap good for value and close to transport . The pub on the corner of king and flinders streets does a very good steak sanga. Your not far from the casino too. We booked jetbus to pick us up and drop us back to the air port. They were good and affodable. I will stay at this hotel next time and use jetbus again.
