"Quality Hotel Value"

Safe areas located in Puxi (Gubei), about 20min from Hong Qiao airport. Staff are overall polite and speak average level English. Have stayed their frequently before - average 3-5 nights, and service was much better. Restaurant on the 2nd floor was of better quality then, perhaps a change in leadership of the hotel. This time, every time i ordered from the menu, there didn't have the "soup of the day" or it "ran out"'; the usual "La Parisen" salad came in 3 different forms and tasted different on each occasion. In room service got the room number wrong and then blamed me for giving them the wrong room number after i told them 3 times slowly. The lobby lounge area was lacking in the usual service as well. Slow and inattentive. The so called "quick breakfast" ended up taking 45 min. It would have been faster to have eaten at the restaurant. Cleaning was normally great ... it was inconsistent this time, one occasion was absolutely sloppy, but a few weeks later, it was impeccable. This hotel was noticeably "consistent" in standard and service previously ... hopefully it will return to the state i remember it to be. Taxis are great to catch in this area. Normally easy for taxis to find. Walking distance to local food - restaurants, grocery stores. A few starbucks within 10-15min walking distance. Not great location for interesting shopping. Value for money - a definite yes.

The staff at the hotel were very good. Many of them spoke some English. Communication was not a problem. The hotel was clean, quiet and the location outside the city center, but near the train station and airport were the reasons we picked this location.

"Warm water and cold not hot until you have request."

Warm water and cold not hot until you have request. I've check in in the evening.I check with water temperature and asking for guest relations service but they said they need to wait till tomorrow.That day I have to bath with cold water.In the morning I 've ask again. They said" We need till 9 am to let engineer come. Without any offer for my shower option.Then I said I have to visit customer at 8.00 oclock. Could you pls change the room for my morning shower.Then they looking for a new room for me.What you think about this service?And I rent a local van to pick up me in front of the Hotel.They stop my car and try to fight with my driver for car park fee.I do not understand. Why they do like that in front of my boss and customer. My boss they get out the car and said to hotel staff. Pls claim the fee with his room.But they did not care. They still fight with a loud voice and big arguement.I can not accept it.I will not stay with this hotel any more.That things happen to me. But yours . Take your chances.

"Nice place in Hongqiao area"

If you need to stay in downtown area, this hotel may not the right choice. For anyone who needs to stay in Hongqiao area for doing business or else, I'd recommend this place.It's located 2 blocks away from Loushanguan subway station and 3 blocks away from shopping and dining area like Parkson department store and many restaurants around, South Beauty, Shufu, Jade Cuisine and so on. Taking a taxi from People's Square to the hotel costs around 30-35 RMB. depends on the traffic. The road in front of the hotel is one way but not a problem at all.The room is nice but a bit curious why my room has stove, microwave, fridge but no pot, pan or even dishes, forks, knives and spoons.Anyway, overall of this hotel is very good. Only its location makes me think a bit longer as I'm a tourist, no business to do in Hongqiao area.

"Friendly and Convenient"

This is my favourite Shanghai hotel. It is close to metro lines 2 and 4 (about a 10-15 min walk), very convenient for Hongqiao airport, and offers high quality of service and decor. Rooms are nicely decorated and there is much to do in the nearby area (walking distance).

"Poor service"

I booked for 4 nights and given an offer of 20% discount for stay of 3 nights or longer. Subsequently, I requested via email to extend by a day since I won't enjoy the discount if I book for a day or the hassle to rebook for 5 days and cancelling my earlier booking. No reply from the hotel which I thought is OK. But when I check in on Sat night, to my dismay, they mentioned there isn't any room except for upgrade. But to do that, I need to get back to the HQ since I book using the website or to wait till Mon. On Mon, they told me there isn't any room, even for the more expensive ones. Thus I have to move to another hotel which they help to find only after many frantic calls. At the other hotel, I needed three trips down to the reception in order to get into my correct room. So what good service?
"defeniately worth a visit"

really nice hotel, room was massive, and had everything could want. little bit expensive, as stayed in another mecure hotel, week or so before closer to shanghai centre.unfortunately business trip, so late arrival and one night only so did not get to see much of the hotels leisure facilities, but the lobby/rooms were amazing quality.

"Felt like home."

Good for all types of travelers who might have unfamiliar feeling when traveling foreign country. Foods are well-balanced, asian & western. Room arrangement and layout is excellent, given the rate, which I find economical.

"just a few thoughts"

the room service food should be a bit better. I do like having fruit basket. However, the sweets don't feel quite fresh. location is good because it is near my sister's place not because it is easy to go for sightseeing. Since it is located at a one way street, taxi usually have to do a big circle to get into the hotel driveway. I like the room and service in general.

"Another Superb Grand Mercure"

This is a wonderful Grand Mercure in Hongqiao district, 10 mins walk to the subway (LouShanGuan Road, Line 2; from there about 45 mins to Pudong Airport if you switch to the Maglev at Longyang Road), 15 mins the other way on Line 2 to Hongqiao airport. The rooms are palatial - for RMB736 I had a 2 bedroom suite with kitchen, living room, free plates of chocolates and fruit and a bottle of champagne! The breakfast is a little scrawny in comparison, and the massage facilities are overpriced as usual - but within 5 mins walk on Gubei Road you can find plenty of underpriced over-quality massage choice.

"clean, freindly, but cold"

I was in Shangahi in January, outside it was quiet cold, berween -3 and +3 Cels. Astonishing was, that the hotel room and also the breakfast room was cold as well. It took 2 hours to manage to get the room warmer and aircondition was the heating. THis was off, when I wasn't in the room, cooling out again. IN the night AC was loud.
