"Lovely Stay"
23rd May 2012, Raelene74, Hamilton, New Zealand
A lovely place to stay. Staff are friendly and willingly to help. We had a small problem with our meal - nothing huge - and the fixed it right away. All in all a great night away - very relaxing.
"Very Good."
21st May 2012, New Plymouth
Ideally located in the city, very clean and comfortable. Great service and restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and outgoing.
"Another great stay!"
21st May 2012, Jeanmnz, Tauranga, New Zealand
We have stayed at this hotel several times now and each time we conclude that you couldn`t have better value for money if you are staying in Hamilton. Hotel is well sited if you are travelling by bus or car, close to shopping and a short trip down to the Hamilton Rose Gardens.
"The Noisey Stairwell"
9th May 2012, 247Jenny, Gisborne, New Zealand
Our room was placed directly opposite the stairwell. There were people all night long using theat door and everytime someone went thru" bang" went the door!! It was excessively loud!! Next time we would demand another room
"Ibis Hamilton"
8th May 2012, klyndy, Tauranga, New Zealand
As usual, good reception. Room 387 is a future no go area. Incredibly noisy as the hotels Air conditioning travels through this room and on top of that the rooms Air con did not work. Yes a maintenance man was sent up but to no avail. However we arrived back late and weary to see an offer of another room and could not be bothered to repack to move, I only wish we had, one of the worst nights sleep... Do not use the rooms Internet, at $14 a go and cuts off quickly if left so reconnection has to be done, this is a complete rip off. I have recommended this hotel to friends in the past, great location but keep clear of Room 387 and the Internet. Car parking at $20 all helps to mount up the extras.

"Good Stay"
5th May 2012, jazzy_starlet, Auckland Central, New Zealand
I did think the bond was unrealisable as it didn't state that on the online booking when you have already paid for the room. But other than that it was a good and i would recommend it to the other people.

"Ibis - Just Perfect"
14th April 2012, quilla63, Brisbane, Australia
We had stayed at the Ibis in Hamilton, NZ, on previous occasions, and were happy to book into this central hotel again, albeit for one night only. We had booked two rooms - one for the parents and one for the teenagers. We were upgraded to a river view room, which displays a wonderful vista of the mighty Waikato. The rooms are small, the bathroom tiny, but were didn't stay in the rooms much, so this didn't bother us. One of the best things about the Ibis is the balcony where you can enjoy a leisurely buffet breakfast in the mornings, or a drink in the evenings. Whatever time of the day, there is something engaging and special about being so close to such a magnificent river. We enjoyed our time at the Ibis - and will be back I'm sure.

"Noise - doors"
2nd April 2012, New Plymouth, New Zealand
Over all good hotel, great location.Need to do something about softening the noise when people close their doors - as once people leave/return to their room all you hear is the banging of doors.I would recommend to friends, but mention about the door banging.

"Parking"
1st April 2012, Te Kuiti
The only thing I would recommend is to use valet parking if you are going out alot. The other option is parking at the sky city for $15 per visit. If for long time IE: the weekend. great otherwise park at center place for $5 during the day and use after hours street parking for free at night. Street parking is at a premium. So don't avoid valet parking if you will be in and out its the best option. The Novotel has parking for $10 per day or valet for $15 per day. The Ibis is $20. We found it annoying that there wasn't another option for parking at the Ibis.

Management responseDear GuestThank you for choosing to stay at Ibis Tainui during your visit to Hamilton and for taking the time to post your feedback. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us, with regards to car parking please note that both Ibis & Novotel charge the same amount for car parking, $20 per night for valet parking & $15 per night for self parking option, the only difference is that Novotel's self parking is outside of the hotel, however our self parking is slightly further away at Skycity.Again thank you for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back to Ibis Tainui in the future.Kind regards Clare PorterHotel ManagerIbis Tainui Hamilton

"Well you get what you pay for!"
31st March 2012, Melbourne, Australia
Now I know why I dislike hotels and prefer to stay in apartments which have more room. Our room for the night was clean and tidy but small.Had vey little sleep due to the young guys with loud voices and the slamming door all night.
"Night by the river"
24th March 2012, Melbourne, Australia
Really good value Hotel. We had a good evening meal over looking the river.Very nice stoppover!Valet Parking at 20 dollars not mentioned at time of booking however that was arranged seamlessly. As ofter happens a breakfast deal was avaiable when checking in.
"Highly recommended!"
22nd March 2012, Auckland, New Zealand
We were very impressed with every aspect of the Ibis - it is ideally located in central Hamilton and the standard of service and cleanliness were excellent.
"Handy location"
22nd March 2012, holmanp, Tauranga, New Zealand
I enjoyed my stay at the Ibis in Hamilton . Apart from a noisy fridge and kids running in the hallway I could not fault my room (OK I prefer to have windows you can open!). The airconditioning was quiet and efficient and the TV was OK. very handy to downtown Hamilton and an Irish pub just across the road!
"Compact but comfortable"
17th March 2012, Auckland
The room was compact but had everything you would want. The bed was comfortable, but the mattress was wrong way up so the zip holding the matresses together was at the bottom rather than the top, so there was a gap in the middle. The window blind was excellent - you could sleep during the day and think it was dark outside. I was annoyed at the extra cost to have the car parked, since I didn't find that cost mentioned when I booked. Overall the stay was enjoyable, and I would stay there again.
"Ibis"
15th March 2012, Wanganui, New Zealand
Awesome trainee receptionist, car parking was an issue opted in for valet parking at 20.00, still awaiting best price guaranteed to be completed, rooms tidy, great bed, older still bar fridge rattled away until I turned it off at the wall.
"Ideal Location - Great Value"
13th March 2012
Stayed just 1 night in Transit to New Plymouth. Location is Great. Just a very short walk to the casino. Around 20 minutes to Hamilton Airport. Dined in the restaurant - very enjoyable. A problem with one meal was very quickly rectified. Excellent service, in Particular from Rangi and Hayley. All facilities were clean and comfortable and meet or exceed what I would expect at an IBIS Hotel. We normally stay in Novotel Hotels and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of this Hotel.
"1.5% Credit Card Charges and $5.10 for 30 minute Internet charges"
13th March 2012, waiheke, Auckland New Zealand
What I do find annoying is the new Ibis practice of adding 1.5% to your bill if you pay by credit card. My other gripe with the larger chain hotels and the charges they make for using the internet. Having got that off my chest on with the review. Don’t get me wrong I have stayed here before and I like it’s location near the river. A typical Ibis hotel with clean rooms in a standard Ibis design but some of the passage ways are looking tired with dirty carpets and in one case the carpet outside the lift doors was split. Dinner was OK but breakfast left a little to be desired with empty Bain-maries not being refilled. Staff efficient but not as friendly as in other Ibis we stayed on this trip, Rotorua Ibis wins on this front. Valet car parking is $20.00 per night. Could be a good hotel but in my opinion at the moment it needs some TLC from the management.
"Good value in Hamilton NZ"
9th March 2012, Melbourne, Australia
Good hotel for a short stay. Limited dining room menu. If you do not expect too much it is excellent value The hotel is located in the CBD of Hamilton near the casino and with easy access to main roads to Taupo/Rotorua and Auckland
"Travelling in New Zealand"
28th February 2012, Wetherby, United Kingdom
Suited our needs, in a pleasant location. Easy access for our onward journey. Overnight 'on site' car parking expensive but 'on street parking' overnight available nearby. Hamilton is a typical New Zealand town with much to offer and worth a visit. This was our second trip to Hamilton.
"Ibis Hamilton Tainui"
17th February 2012, Waiuku,Auckland
After staying at the Ibis in Rotorua we found this Hotel a little bit lacking. The lift had no button for our floor - for a start - was fixed later. The fact that parking was to be valet or next door in the casino was not advertised anywhere - extra cost. The rooms were a little small - would've liked perhaps 2 chairs in room to sit on rather than on bed.Service in Bistro/restaurant though was excellent and food was very nice - thank you
"Poor Service"
16th February 2012, Auckland, New Zealand
I booked to stay at the Ibis using the online booking system. Unfortunately we I arrived we were double booked by the Hotel, after waiting 45 minutes for the Hotel to let me know what was going on, I was asked to wait another 30 minutes, which I refused. We were put across to the Novotel across the way, which was a very nice and well presented Hotel. They beds were slightly uncomfortable, as I am used to a hard bed. However checkin once again took too long. Not impressed with Ibis
"Handy Location"
10th February 2012, Melbourne, Australia
Perfect location in the heart of Hamilton, competitively prices and staff were fantastic. The rooms were clean and we had a lovely view of teh rivier, rooms were also surprisingly quiet considering the location.
