Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Lovely service and very central."

14th May 2012, Clare L, London

A good value, easy hotel with very helpful staff. Slight stale smell in corridor leading to some rooms but otherwise flawless. Our very late check-in and early checkout were easily accomodated.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Did the rat get the cheese?"

29th April 2012, peterherbertB, London, United Kingdom

To be advised that cheese was off the menu because it was all going to a group of people on a conference suggests lack of tact and poor managementRooms smallBeds not over whelmingLocation greatCost of restaurant high for quality and quantity

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Surprise experience"

31st March 2012, Gulpen, The Netherlands

Excellent hotel. Around the corner from everything. The staff is wonderful. The chef is excellent. We loved the menu choices. The food was cooked creatively and excellent.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "A comfortable hotel"

14th March 2012, Hillsdale, Michigan, USA

Business takes me to Oxford at least once a year. I have stayed at the Eastgate at least a dozen times and have never been unsatisifed with my stay. While some of the rooms are small, they are always comfortable. The staff is helpfull. The food is delicious. Finally, the location of the hotel on Merton Street makes it well-positioned for academic or tourist activity.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 2.0 out of 5 stars "smallest room I have ever stayed in"

13th March 2012, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

The price of the room per square meter was the highes I ever had to pay. The room was the size of a broom closet and noisy.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Mixed results in central Oxford"

1st March 2012, Hereford, UK

Generally up to the Mercure standard but1) The weather was unseasonably mild. The room was rtather stuffy so I tried to use the air conditioning. It had been switched off for the winter! When I complained, I was given free parking.2) The young ladies serving breakfast lacked charm and, more dangerous, the poached egg was very seriously undercooked.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good reasonably priced hotel in the centre of Oxford but they charge for internet access"

24th February 2012, Timelord007, London

Have stayed here several times as I am a Accor Gold card holder. Fortunately we were given a room on the back of the hotel, in the past we always requested this but never got one. The room was very good, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. However the hotel charge for internet access which is ridiculous in this day and age, it used to be free of charge. They also charge for parking, £15 a day, not unreasonable for Oxford but we were told they will be building on the car park soon, as The Old Bank doesn't charge for parking or internet access we may stay there in future. The staff here are lovely though and I would recommend this hotel to stay at when in Oxford

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great location"

15th February 2012, Leidschendam

Lovely hotel. The room was a bit cold because of old windows and a bit noisy because of early morning deliveries. However this is a great hotel with friendly very helpful staff. we have stayed here several times and definitely will do again.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Hard to fault and convenient"

31st January 2012, Bishops Stortford

Good location in a road just off the High Street on the edge of city centre. Car park at rear isn't cheap but parking is difficult in Oxford. The accommodation is slightly dated/period as expected but is generally in good order and the public areas are well maintained. The restuarant in the hotel is separately branded but doesn't appear to be well used. There are plenty of good places for breakfast or dinner close by. The location is close enough to walk to all the attractions and whilst the bus tour is good for an initial understanding of what's where, it's generally quicker on foot as the buses aren't that frequent at this time of the year. All in all a very good weekend.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent city centre hotel"

11th January 2012

Excellent hotel in a great location for the sights. the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was large for a city centre location with large bathroom. Room overlooking the high street was a bonus and very little traffic noise. We were able to store luggage on our day of departure at reception which alowed us to enjoy more of Oxford. a small matter but most welcome.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great Locatiion and service at a reasonable rate"

7th October 2011, Encino, CA

We enjoyed our stay. Most of the hotel is located on a quiet side street at High Street which is the main street in Oxford. We found it an easy walk to most of the places we wanted to visit. just a few minutes walk to Magdelen and Queens Colleges. Shopping and lots of restaurants within five to ten minute walk. Personnel were very friendly and helpful whenever we required assistance.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Best hotel in Oxford"

6th October 2011, Nyon, Switzerland

We stayed at the Eastgate Oxford Mecrure with our daughter for 3 nights. Service, rooms, lobby, bar, location, and, and, and...were impeccable.Very comfortable hotel. The Front Desk staff are brilliant and offer intelligent and warm and friendly service.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 5.0 out of 5 stars "An excellent hotel in a good location"

5th September 2011, JMPScottie, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom

Room was a little on the small side but pleasant containing all mod cons. Breakfast was not included in our stay and seemed a bit pricey considering the alternatives close by.Reception staff very helpful and friendly.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Expensive, but clean and welcoming"

28th July 2011, Gravesend

Whilst I'd spent £82 on parking for 5 days (£70) and internet access (£12) before even checking in the room ... It was suprising large for just me and with a good view over the High Street.. the drawback being a High Street can be incredibly noisey place at night. But the only concern those some of those things that were missing that make value added.. even the fruit was chopped in the morning to avoid people taking the odd apple or orange for the day, and any sneaky bread roll had to be cut off from the whole stick (not easy when you're practially alone in the breakfast area) and the bar was expensive little change from £5 for a bottle of Magners however there was a communal scarbble board and chess set for families which was a nice touch..
