"relaxing weekend"
6th February 2013, paulie62_13, Guildford, United Kingdom
Our stay was a welcome break from the hustle bustle of our hectic lives. We were attended to very quickly and politely. Our room was very nice (we chose to stay in the older wing of the hotel) It was clean warm and welcoming. However the complimentary teas coffees and biscuits were a little lacking. The room was facing the main road but the secondary double glazing worked well and kept 90% of the traffic noise out. But the heating made the room rather hot so we had to open the windows to cool down! The bed was very comfortable but again the overbearing central heating made us have a somewhat uncomfortable night. Our evening meal at the hotel was very good but the menu was a little restrictive in choice. The breakfast on the other hand was outstanding with a large selection to chose from!

We had a pleasant time at the hotel.Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was varied in choice and excellenty prepared. The log fire was a welcoming site on the cold day we arrived. The hotel has an old world appeal which we liked. the room was a good size withcomfortable bed ,it was quiet and warm.
"Very good service from the staff"
20th December 2012, domenicoguizzo, Valdobbiadene, Italy
As far as tha hotel is concern I can say that I have had very good service from the staff but the restaurant doesn't use table clothes on the tables.I only eat in restaurant where table cloths are provided.
"Dorking weekend"
18th November 2012, PandAHall_12, Blackpool, United Kingdom
We had a wonderful relaxing weekend overall. The reception and restaurant staff were very polite and our room was very clean and the breakfast plentiful. I have two complaints though, albeit trivial. We booked online and were supposed to receive a welcome pack in our rooms which we didn't receive. The contents weren't much however, I do feel if something has been advertised you should comply. Also, we returned to the hotel at 11.30pm on Saturday night with the intention of having a nightcap at the bar, however the front door of the hotel was locked and we had to go round the back. The whole of the reception and bar area was in total darkness and we felt obliged to retire to our room. On Sunday evening however we returned back to the hotel at 9.30 and was able to get a drink and it felt a little more welcoming. We will still visit the White Horse again as this is the first time there's been an issue and the location for our visit is ideal.
"Nice period hotel with large car park and excellent location"
8th October 2012
A period hotel with large free car parking and in an excellent location in center of town. The restaurant menu looked good and I wanted to eat and drink, but there were no real ales or attractive beers so I went elsewhere.I asked for a quiet room as I had been working away from home and driving long distances for three days. I was woken at 06:15 when the person in the room next to mine used their shower which was immediately the other side of the wall against which my bed was positioned? Oh well, it saved me an alarm call!
"Fantastic hotel"

I stayed in the old part, full of character and very clean. Beautiful room. Hotel was easy to find in the middle of the high street.
"Nice pub-like hotel"
1st June 2012, jamesfromFulham, london
I was put right over the car park and so it was v noisy and I couldn't have the windows open on a very hot night. Also no free internet in the room was unexpected and at £4 per hour would make it an impossible choice for business.
"Bathroom"

Only suggestion - see that the sink in the bathrom is cleared with drain cleaner...otherwise a very comfortable hotel in a good location

"ALWAYS ENJOY IT, BUT IT IS TIRED"
29th March 2012, W1NSTON10, Telford, United Kingdom
I have been visiting the White Horse for many years and have stayed there many times in the past and also during the various changes of ownership. The hotel is well positioned in the town centre and this is the main attraction. Unfortunately, and whilst the hotel has a lot of charming appeal, it is tired and does need money being spent to re-paint/decorate both externally as well as internally...there are few signs of even a small amount of updating taking place. The gardens are not looked after and neither is the front step/entrance swept clean; not a good impression. Some music could be played in the bar area and also the lighting needs improving (this is also important when viewed from the outside to ensure the hotel looks inviting enough to tempt you inside! Hope these comments are viewed as constructive; I do like the hotel and will return but it could be great!
"Olde World Charm"
27th February 2012, annomm, London
Historic Coaching Inn (Dickens stayed there) with nice staff and a central location in a delightful English Market Town and a fantastic buffet breakfast - wide choice; fresh food well cooked. The rooms are comfotable and the public areas are beams and comfy sofas with a nice bar and newspapers to read.
"Not a jewel in the Accor Hotels Crown"
20th February 2012, AlisonMalone, Nottngham
This hotel is very tired. Basic maint is not being done including leaking guttering. Room service plates left outside rooms for a long time. It was icy no provision made so had to be careful due to guttering. The room was clean and the breakfast edible is the best feedback I can give this location. The waiter who served us breakfast, was, I hate to say in need of personal grooming advice. His uniform was filthy and the dandruff on his hair etc noticeable. The evening bar staff was very polite and as we were the only person there provided good service. Reception staff on the whole do not speak very good English. If you planning a visit here I would avoid it. I travel alot with work and for pleasure. I am a platinum customer with Accor and this is the worse hotel I have stopped in within their chain. A poster in the foyer mentioned being treated like Royalty at their 700 hotels...mmmm this was not the case here.
"Perfectly fine for a night as a business traveller"
20th February 2012, MKB30, Stoke-on-Trent, England
I stayed for one night as I had business the next day in Dorking. Very good location in the high street, friendly welcome and assistance to my room with my heavy suitcase. Hotel is a collection of old buildings that began as a 13th century coach house, so expect lots of low ceilings, stairs between different levels on each floor. It all adds to the character of the place, which has retained its feel despite being a branded hotel now. Room was clean and tidy with a large bathroom, armchair, coffee table, work desk and chair, flat screen tv and wardrobe. Had a good night's sleep, even though the bed was a little hard for my taste. Breakfast very good for £10 - full English available in a buffet, continental options, and items such as kippers, different types of eggs available cooked to order from the kitchen. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again in the future for a similar stay.
"Tired but ok"
19th January 2012, teabags157, amersham
I stayed here with a group of friends using two twin rooms and three singles. The rooms in the old part of the hotel were tired and in need of updating - the decor, furniture were past their best!! The heating wasn't working in one of the single rooms so my friend was moved to a room in the newer section which I am told were small but comfortable. We could have done with more towels, another pillow (there was only one spare) and blankets in the twin room I shared but as it was only for one night we didn't bother to ask. Very covenient location and I would recommend to anyone looking for just one night.
