Having just returned from a long weekend at Banbury. I will not be returning or recommending due to the fact that the church bells of the nearby church ring every 15 minutes until 3am in the morning which resulted in a very disturbed sleep. We were supposed to have a quiet room but the noise from the bells could be clearly heard even with the windows shut. Hotel responded that this was a local tradition and there was nothing they could do!. If this had been mentioned on website we would never have booked a stay there. Book at your peril
Dear Guest, Thank you for posting your comments regarding your stay with us and again I am truly sorry for the disturbance caused by the Church bells, and as below and in my correspondence with yourself the chiming of the bells is completely out of our hands and they do actually chime every 15 minutes all day and night. Once again my most sincere apologies. Kind Regards Michael Williams General Manager
I stay here occasionally for work, and I like this hotel. The food is good and the surroundings are nice, with a large well-kept garden and comfortable rooms. Rooms at the front can be noisy at times.
Dear Guest, Thank you very much for you positive review, I am very pleased to read that you choose to stay with us and how much you enjoy your time with us. I will be sure to pass on your kind words to the team and look forward to being able to welcome you back soon. Kind Regards Michael Williams General Manager
We run outside events and the weather had been appalling when we arrived at the hotel - looking (and feeling!) like drowned rats, looking only for a hot shower and a drink. We were looked at with utter disdain by the blonde lady on the reception desk. I have travelled the world over but have NEVER been treated like that before. I would neither recommend nor pay good money to stay at your establishment ever again!
Dear Guest, I am very sorry to read your review following your recent stay with us. Your comments are naturally of great concern to me and I will contact you directly to address these. My sincere apologies. Kind Regards Michael Williams General Manager
I used to be a regular in the Holiday Inn Express in Banbury and I was perfectly happy there. But that one is closed down so Accor / Mercure then is my next option. But what a difference!! Different in each and every aspect. The Whately is not a really brandnew building so to say. Once checked in and then get to the elevator is just a journey on it's own. You even have to walk 20 meters outdoors for that plus that there is a 7 steps staircase on the way as well............ The rooms are o.k. and so are the beds. The staff is excellent.
Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to post your comments following a stay with us. I completely understand your comments and it is true we are a very different option to the Holiday INN Express being a 17th century bulding as oppose to a modern purpose built hotel and our layout is rather different. I am very happy to read your very kind words regarding the staff here and will be certain to pass on your kind words and hope that we will be able tocontinue to welcome you when you stay in the area. Once again many thanks. Kind Regards Michael Williams General Manager .
This hotel is in need of a refurb, and a good clean (mould behind the bathroom taps not nice). Also after a bad nights sleep due to hard pillows and mattress the church next to this hotel decided to start bell practice around 7am on a Sunday morning, every 15 minutes until 9am. I am not impressed that we were not told about this on check in.
Dear Guest, Thank very much for posting your comments following your recent stay with us. I am so sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay with us. We have recently decorated all of the bedrooms and are working our way through the remainder of the hotel. I will certainly address the cleanliness issue with our Houskeeper as this is clearly not acceptable. I am sorry to read that you found the bed uncomfortable. I will also speak with my Front Office Manager regarding offering guests a choice of rooms when possible to the front or rear of the hotel. Once again many thanks for your comments. If you do have the need to stay in the area again please do not hesitate to contact myself or Front Office Manager and we shall ensure a quieter room for yourselves. Kind Regards Michael Williams General Manager
