"Lovely hotel, shame about the menu."
1st March 2013, jenka71, Shrewsbury, United Kingdom
Me and my wife like to stay here on our wedding anniversary just to get some quality time together. the only thing I can fault it on is that we have noticed that the menu choice has been reducing every time. This year we could not believe that there was so little choice on offer at dinner in the restaurant.

"Mercure Albrighton Hall"
26th February 2013, RBJManchester, Manchester
I recently stayed at the Mercure Albrighton Hall for a 2 night getaway with my wife and 3 yr old daughter. The hotel is positioned in beautiful grounds and the older part of the hotel is very impressive. We had a family room which gave us more than enough space and was ideal for us with having a small child. The room was clean and contemporary and we couldn't fault it.We ate in the dining room one evening which was excellent in terms of both the food and service. We were a little aprehensive as, although our daughter is well behaved, she is a 3 year old and we din't know how that would be received in the restaurant. However, the staff couldn't have been more accomodating and whilst we ate relatively early, we were made to feel very welcome. In fact it was the staff and high levels of customer service that really made our break. Wherever we went in the hotel, all the staff were smilling and couldn't do enough for us. For that alone I would highly recommend this hotel as a great place to stay. An added bonus were the fantastic pool and Spa facilites. Whilst we didn't have a specific treatment, we did use the pool, sauna, steam room etc and once again this couldn't be faulted. All in all I'd say that this is a great base in the Shropshire countryside and is great value for money!!

"Spa Break @ Albrighton Hall"
26th February 2013, philipgsmith, Chester, United Kingdom
We really enjoyed our stay @ Albrighton Hall. There is ample parking and the Reception Team were very helpful and friendly. We arrived about an hour early but we enjoyed a bar lunch and the room was ready for us which gave time to get changed and go to the spa.We had also had a telephone call the day before to confirm and check that we had booked my wifes spa treatment (to avoid dissapointment) which we both thought was a reaaly good idea. The meals were excellent and the service prompt despite a busy dining room.We really enjoyed our stay. Whilst not an issue for us, there are no lifts in the hotel so anyone not fully able bodied might find it a long walk to the far end of the hotel or up to the first floor. Highly recommended and good value for money. The pool and spa/ gym were a really clean and of a high standard.

"" Fabulous hotel, great staff ""
20th February 2013, 621monty, wolverhampton
Stayed here with my wife and cannot find fault with the hotel. The staff were all polite, friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived to the moment we departed. The room was spacious , very comfortable , warm and spotlessly clean, as indeed was the rest of the hotel. The Spa and leisure facilities were excellent and the food was first class. The hotel is situated in a superb location and we will definitely be returning.

"Relaxing spa break in beautiful surroundings"
7th February 2013, Citychick404, Solihull, United Kingdom
A gorgeous hotel, we stayed in the school masters house, rooms were spacious, huge bathroom! We booked a spa package which was excellent value for money with dinner, bed and breakfast and money towards spa treatments included. The spa was really nice, very relaxing and wonderful treatments. Booking our treatments was easy. My only criticism would be that the squash court is located right outside the spa entrance so whilst in the relaxation room you could hear the game going on! We didn't use the pool or gym whilst we were there so I can't comment on that but they looked fine. The hotel is located a few miles out of Shrewsbury so it is a short drive to the town centre with a variety of shops and restaurants. Overall a great hotel and location which I would definitely recommend.

"Very Expensive!"
23rd January 2013, Happilymarriedtoyou
I have already contacted the hotel about our stay, but in a nutshell I felt that the hotel, drinks and food were just too expensive and not good value for money at all. For example, although our rooms were lovely, they could only be reached by walking outside the hotel and it was the same to get to the spa, bar or dining room. As it was snowing when we stayed this arrangement was not ideal. The food at the bar was a rip off and the drinks were very expensive (my kids only had soft drinks and we ended up only have a couple of spirits plus mixers as we could see the bill going up and up). We have stayed in nicer hotels and had better value for our money, and it wasn't cheap - over £450 for a family of 4 for 1 night! The pool area was freezing when we arrived but had improved by the time we left and the sauna was out of order. This weekend was a treat for my husband's birthday but to be honest we were left feeling very out of pocket and I wish I had saved the money and put it towards a holiday instead. If you go take you own snacks and drinks to keep the costs down to a more reasonable level. I will say that the breakfast is good value and the service in the dining room is very good, although the bar service was slow.

Management responseDear Guest, Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay. I am glad to hear that on the whole you enjoyed the service & breakfast at the hotel. We will pass on your comments about speed of service to the Food & Beverage Manager. The pricing that we have is similar to most 4 star properties. We did have a problem with one of our saunas over the weekend which we apologise for. Unfortunately like any piece of working equipment from time to time it will breakdown. As soon as we where aware of the issue an engineer was called to site but due to adverse weather conditions the response time that we normal work to was effected. "Common Policy on check in."
21st December 2012, richard-ikin, Dyffryn Ardudwy
The Room was excellent as usual,- but we were very annoyed to be denied access to the room at 2o'clock as we needed to change to go on to an engagement. On line booking on the Mercure website says check in at 2 pm,- but the hotel told us their policy is 3pm. Not Good ! ,-Richard and Sue Ikin.

Management responseDear Guest,Thank you, for taking the time to add your constructive comments on Tripadvisor. As a valued regular guest to the hotel, I am sure that you are aware that we do our utmost to ensure that the majority of rooms are available to access from 2pm, however; on this occasion your room was not available until the guaranteed time of 3pm. Of course we would not wish to move you to an alternate room, as a valued customer we always allocate you the best room available at the time of booking. I do hope to welcome you back to Albrighton Hall Hotel and Spa in the very near future. Kind regardsJane PeachFront Office Manager

"Service with a smile!"
6th December 2012, annette2371l, Coventry, United Kingdom
We enjoyed a relaxing spa break at this hotel and were impressed right from the outset by the friendly but attentive service we received. Special mention goes to reception staff who carried out duties with efficiency and a smile, even turning up around 11 on Saturday evening with a jug of fresh milk to refresh our tea & coffee supplies. Thanks Sophia! Restaurant staff were charming and helpful, but never fawning and the food was excellent. Our room was very large and double aspect, with a very pleasant view. The Spa facilities were very good, if a little tired in places and the staff, once more, were friendly and helpful. We had only two minor criticisms. Firstly, there were some areas of the hotel were rather chilly at times and secondly, some of the Spa staff, including one delivering treatments, were wearing uniforms that needed laundering. We would certainly recommend the hotel and facilities overall.

"Excellent!"
13th November 2012, TerryandLisa, Oxfordshire, England
A really lovely hotel. The reception staff were very welcoming and efficient - and very helpful after we'd checked out when we discovered my husband had left his mobile phone behind. The room was very spacious and extremely comfortable with a good supply of tea/coffee. We stayed in the School Masters House, and had an end room so it was also very quiet. Both dinner and breakfast the following morning were delicious. I'd recommend the cheesecake as not to be missed. I have only downgraded on value because at £15.50 I do think breakfast is a bit expensive - particularly buffet style - when you don't always want (or eat) a huge amount. Having said that, dinner was actually very good value at around £70 for 2 people & 3 courses each plus wine & coffee. The only pity was that we didn't have time to try out the leisure facilities but I would look forward to that if staying again.

"Nice room, poor service"
31st October 2012, Melbourne, Australia
The hotel is located in pleasant countryside, and the rooms are very comfortable. My only problems with it were the food service in the bar - having ordered a main dish of lamb I had a plate of fish and chips shoved in front of me, when challenged the waiter got vert defensive and said "it's not my fault, I just do what I am told". When he finally brought the lamb he said "sorry for the delay, we had to start everything from scratch" - fine words, but delivered in a manner that implied the fault had been mine and I should have just eaten the fish and chips. Simply rude. And unfortunately the lamb was a very small and poorly cooked dish given that they were charging £17.50 for it to be eaten in the bar. When I came to check out the bar had charged an additional item for £21 for drinks that I did not have - fortunately the reception staff dealt with this professionally when challenged as they could see I had not signed for anything other than the food. By all means stay at the hotel, but don't eat or drink here.

"Weekend break with wife and infant"
6th September 2012, Belfast
Excelllent service and the quality of the hotel met our expectations. Service from assistant manager (i think) Emad was beyond the call of duty and made our stay that little bit better. We used the weekend revivor package for the saturday to sunday and it proved to be excellent value.

"Good location"
29th June 2012, West Sussex
Lovely hotel - useful fridge in room. We stayed room only so can't comment on food.Warning - on our first night a Prom was held at the hotel, lots of noise from teenagers and music. Our block was adjoining the large function room, the hotel offered to move us but it was too late in the evening, The event did finish at 11.30pm and peace returned.on over our three day stay. I would check next time and ask for a quiet room

"Shrewsbury in the Summertime."
18th June 2012, RevMother3, Hinckley, United Kingdom
This was our first experience of staying in an Accor Mercure Hotel in Britain, all the others we have stayed at have been on the continent. Being a former hall and private residence this hotel has character, and is located in attractive grounds. Our welcome was warm, the restaurant staff were most helpful, the quality of the dinners was good. The housekeeping staff were very friendly. We found the whole experience to be most relaxing and we would recommend this hotel to our family and friends. On the down side it would have been good to have the choice of eggs boiled, poached or scrambled, and also porridge available at breakfast times, and since breakfast is buffet style the fried egg yolks were not very runny. On the plus side it was brilliant to have ground decaffeinated coffee at all times, and not the usual sachets of instant decaffeinated coffee which often happens in hotels these days. We enjoyed our four day break very much.

"Good Hotel"
10th June 2012, angdob, Chapel-en-le-Frith, United Kingdom
I booked a reviver spa package with an upgrade to a privilege room. I booked the me and my loved one spa treatments. I must say that sarah on the leisure centre reception desk made us feel very welcome and she was lovely and bubbly. Our treatments were suburb. Our privelege room was in the attic (room 23) so a little smaller than expected but quaint and had a for poster bed. We could have stayed in a more modern room but we can do that at home so the change was lovely. The only issue with our room was the shower didn't work but we used the leisure centre. The dinner was included in the price and was lovely. The restaurant staff didnt tell us steak was extra (£10 each) so we didnt pay for it. The service is slow but we like that as it makes an evening of it. Breakfast was lovely in the morning.Overall had a lovely time and would recommend the hotel to other people.Angela Dobbin
