"Cannot fault"

Overall was very pleased with everything, the lay out of the hotel is a little strange but thats nothing to complain about. I got a late discounted room, very pleased with the hotel, staff, the room, breakfast, facilities etc. Would be more then happy to come back and stay here again

"excellent value for money"

we found the hotel very comfortable and the staff very pleasant. it was in a good location - very central. we would look for other hotels in this chain when travelling.we did not use the restaurant so cannot comment on this

"Do visit the Cathedral"

Allow plenty of time to visit the Cathedral and do not miss the Cathedral library with The Winchester Bible. Do not have too high expectations of the hotel, some of the staff try hard but others are very keen to avoid taking responsibility for shortcomings.

"Lovely place"

Hotel was in a brill position and i would stay again. Reception seemed very surprised though that i didnt have a credit card to hand over on arrival, even tough all was paid in full. Made me feel quite small and unworthy.

"The room was much too small"

Perhaps it was the worst room in the hotel (room 127 I think I remember, just behind the lift), but for two people the room was totally inadequate. Unfortunately we arrived extremely late (02:00) having driven from Gatwick airport so we had no energy to complain and seek another room. The breakfast, on the other hand, was excellent.

"A short visit to Bourges"

This is a very adequate hotel. The hotel is in a very central location and has an excellent restaurant, good parking facilities and friendly staff. We got the rooms we required as booked. A small problem with one of the lights was quickly solved.

"Staying for Business?"

Good location, but old-fashioned and tired feel. Got an upgrade to Executive Bedroom because double-booked at first, sent to alternative hotel and then recalled when they suddenly found an available room (at least they paid the taxi fares!). Air conditioning temperamental (wouldn't switch off). Old building and fixtures so not as good value for the price compared with more modern hotels. Breakfast very average. Full of elderly tourists to which it is better suited than business stayers.

"Excellent in every way"

Beautifully situated and excellent hotel in every way. Friendly staff, good food, clean rooms and I was lucky enough to get a room overlooking the cathedral.I would cerftainly recommend this Mercure and hope to stay there again.

"Spectacular view"

We stayed at the Mercure hotel for one night, room only. We were greeted by friendly, polite staff and directed to our room on the first floor. I had made a request for a room overlooking the cathedral, and we weren't disappointed; we were practically in the cathedral grounds, and had a spectacular view. The room was spacious and clean, although the fixtures and fittings a little tired, but this was more than made up for by the location of the hotel: straight out of the front door and you turn on to the main high street where all of the tourist attractions are close to hand and within walking distance. We arrived on a Sunday lunchtime and parked easily in the hotel car park, right outside the door. A very good hotel experience for us.

"Good memories"

A most enjoyable visit - comfortable room, excellent location, friendly service and copious breakfasts. Our only niggle - why is there a charge for internet access? Despite that, we certainly plan to come back.

"Good Family History location"

Friendly & helpful staff. Room though not enormous, was comfortable & fine for a solo traveller.Excellent central position in this beautiful city, close to all the city sights and 12 minutes walk from the railway station & family archive centre.Good food with veiws of the cathedral.
"Dont judge by its cover"

Lovely hotel - friendly clean and much posher on the inside than it looks from the outside - be warned however they charge for overnight parking which I hadn't expected from the way the parking was advertised to me. Still a small price to pay for city centre parking

"Highly recomend"

Really lovely hotel. It is not much to look at from the outside, but service fantastic and helpful. Breakfast excellent too. I would highly recommend. They were very helpful and rang me to say my daughter had left her mobile phone. They also printed out directions to a Local venue without prompting. JANE
