"Excellent midweek break"

Great location with a close up view of the cathedral from our room and the dining room.Excellent value and fabulous breakfast and dinner. Two reasons that we didn't give this hotel a five star review, a problem with the heating meant that it was cold throughout the hotel and even though they had additional heaters everywhere we left the bar early as our room was warmer! Also we prepaid online for our dinners but were charged again for them when checking out leading to a long argument with reception which soured an otherwise excellent break.

"City stay in Winchester"

Centrally located, clean spacious room, good sized bathroom. A really good hotel to use if visiting central Winchester. Helpful reception staff. We had twin beds, would have preferred a double but not really an issue. Some difficulty finding the place and car park ful but nearby public carparking was convenient and cheaper at the weekend.

"Nice hotel"

Didn't use the facilities, only there one night but the room was very good with a view of the cathedral & the reception staff were very helpful (we were offered an umbrella as it rained).This hotel is ideal for visiting the town & it's cathedral, etc., as it is very central. Well worth a visit, would definitely stay again.

"5 day stay"

Had a lovely stay here. Staff were polite at all times. The executive room was ready for us early, which was a surprise especially as it was the 1st January. The view over the green to the cathedral was very pleasant and the bellringing was really nice, we opened the window so we could hear it properly. The air conditioning/heathing didn't work, but when notified they sorted it out very quickly, although it did go wrong again. They did provide us with an additional heater straight away. A couple of minutes walk and you were on the high street.

"Comfortable Stay at the Wessex"

We both had very good stay at the Wessex.Breakfast was very compehensive and of high quality.The room was very comfortable and the bed.The wallpaper had some small patches missing on one wall, but diden't upset us.Thanks fof a great stay.

"A hotel to return to."

In the heart of the town with views of the Cathedral it's situation could not be bettered. The non-executive room we had was spacious and equipped with all we needed. There was a big private party in full swing when we arrived but the staff were very welcoming and helpful and we were completely undisturbed in our room. It is best to arrange your parking in advance although we managed perfectly well with the public parking immediately outside the hotel.
