Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Windsor Mercure - worth a visit."

17th January 2013, Frogs56, Frogs56

The hotel was perfect for staying in the centre of Windsor, and secure and attended parking at the hotel was a definite bonus. The level of service from staff was of a very high standard. We booked a dinner bed and breakfast deal, which was well worth the money, with extremely good food. We had booked Privilege rooms, and I am not certain that the additional cost was worth it, as the room was quite small. However, our friends room was much larger. One negative, that was possibly beyond the control of the staff was that the lift was not working, and as our friends were on a stopover from Australia, trying to lug two very heavy cases up three flights of stairs was difficult. Staff did offer help, but for one of the party with breathing problems, the trip up and down stairs was tiring,All that said, we would return quite happily, but just book standard rooms with the DBB rate.

Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "A FAMILY GET TOGETHER"

16th January 2013, Michaelhavant3, Havant

A family get together of 6 children and 11 adults was made all the more special by the fantastic staff at the Mercur Hotel in Windsor. The children were treated as welcome as adults and the staff were so patient, warm, friendly and helpful. The drinks were quite expensive, that's my only negative comment.Food fantastic and plentiful. Location could not be better. Will definately return and would highly recommend, especially for families. One of our group is disabled and the lift wasn't working .these things happen.

Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Perfect"

3rd January 2013, maggotmai, Plymouth, United Kingdom

Took my granddaughter to see the Dolls House at Windsor Castle and this was the perfect place to stay. The room was well appointed and clean, and the staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful, would certainly stay there again.

Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Fantastic location"

3rd January 2013, alicook, Northamptonshire

The hotel is in a great location opposite the castle and has the added bonus of free on site parking for guests which is really worth having in Windsor. Reception staff were freindly and efficient and we were able to check in early. We had booked a privilege room which I think was worth the extra. The room was very clean and well appointed if a bit too hot - we turned the radiator off, opened the windows and put the (rather ineffective) air conditioning on but it was still very warm. The only disappointment was breakfast - the cold buffet was very limted and items kept running out on the hot buffet even though the diningroom was only half full. We paid a discounted rate of £10 but it would definitely not be worth the full £16.50 rate. We would return to the hotel for the location, service and free parking but would be room only next time.

Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel - an ideal location"

20th November 2012, richgreen54, Birmingham, United Kingdom

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on Firday and Saturday, visiting Windsor Castle (100metres away) on Saturday morning and then taking the train from Windsor and Eton Riverside station to Twickenham and back, for the international rugby match. The hotel is steeped in history as is, of course the town. Good shooping and restaurants right outside the hotel. Comfortable rooms. An ideal hotel to explore the locality and travel further afield.

Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel: 2.0 out of 5 stars "would not stay again"

13th November 2012, belle088, oxford

I travelled alone and stayed for just the one night, but needed a good nights sleep.I stay in hotels regularly but usually with my husband I did feel uncomfortable here beingsingle. I had to ask for service when needing to order food, but watched other couples and groups asked quite promptly. The room was 'cosy' I paid for a double bed but got a large single( it would have been nice to have had a whole double bed to myself! that is not frequented by my children for once ) and on leaving the gentleman that checked me out did not have the manners to ask how my stay had been, a little politeness goes along way. The overall feel was alittle tired but as I am usuallly a positive person the fridge was cold and water provided. The car park attendants were excellent.I need to stay in Windsor often now but will choose another place.

Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Lovely hotel, great location"

25th August 2012, drakey

We stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was in a separate annex at the back of the hotel, and I am sure that the rooms at the front were of superior quality, however, the room was very comfortable. The Hotel had a excellent breakfast served in the restaurant, with very high quality produce. We had afternoon tea, which was very popular, and very nice, excellent quality. Expensive, but we were in Windsor.Windsor is lovely, and the hotel is 100 yards from the castle and looks over the High Street where you get fantastic view of the Guards marching up to the Castle for changing of the Guard. The shopping is great, with many high quality shops. As for restaurants, there are many. We could not work out why so many people eat in the large chain restaurants when there are so many high quality local restaurants available. We went into the English "The Duchess of Cambridge" and had a really good meal, for a very good price. We walked down into Eton, which was not very far, and did the tour of the College which was very interesting. We enjoyed Windsor, and the Windsor Castle Hotel and would love to return one day..

Management responseDear drakey, Thank you for posting such a positive review following your stay with us. The main building of the hotel does indeed contain our upgraded room types; Privilege, Executive and Suites rooms which are often larger in size, offer additional amenities and also many have a view out on to the high street and of the Castle. These rooms are available to customers for a supplement which is shown on the website. I will be pleased to share your feedback with the breakfast team who I know will be pleased to receive it. I hope we can welcome you back to the hotel in the near future. Kind Regards,David HaydenGeneral Manager

13th June 2012, travelbug117, London, United Kingdom

This Hotel is a one of a rare breed that 1) Does not charge for parking and 2) Does not charge for wifi. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and functional, the Hotel location is perfect. Highly recommended.

Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "One Night Stay at Windsor"

14th May 2012, edwarddyr, London, United Kingdom

Our two rooms were booked back in January. At the time, the website offered us a twin or double rooms. We booked two twins rooms. However, on the morning of our arrival, I received an email informing us that all twin rooms were taken, and only double rooms were free. I was staying with my 85 year old father, and a double room was unacceptable. They did install a sofa bed within the room for us, which was very uncomfortable. We were told that a big party was staying which is why all the twin rooms were taken. This party booked before us, which raises the question - why did it take until the morning of our arrival to tell us about the lack of twin rooms? The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly, which is why I would reccomend this hotel to a friend.

Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good"

23rd February 2012, passport100, Essex

There are a couple of gripes I have with this hotel hence the 4 star rating. Firstly the carpark bays a very small, so someone with a large vehicle will struggle. Secondly, and this is my biggest moan. the buffet full english breakfast was well presented and looked lovely but it was almost cold.
