Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Christmas in Vienna!"

4th January 2013, Expats2, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

A very nice hotel! Concierge very helpful in setting up attendance to events. Very comfortable room."Free" internet not particularly useful, pretty much limited to simple e-mail. Hotel slow in releasing block on CC; its been 10 days since hotel charges posted to CC account?

Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Perfect sweetheart weekend"

19th December 2012, Skovsgaard_Denmark, Thisted, Denmark

The services and standard in general is very high af Sofitel Stephansdom.Perfect - if you can afford it....The junior suite is a perfect place to spend some time with your spouce and espcially the "magnificient breakfast" deal with the splendid "in the room" buffet is one of a kind. Not the last time we have tried this.

Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Perfect choice"

7th December 2012, gkouseras, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

We stayed for 4 nights in a luxury room. We absolutely loved its modern and smart design. The service was very good; we very much appreciated the early check-in at 8am!The restaurant at the 18th floor offers incredible 360 degrees view of Vienna. Downsides? Hard to find any; perhaps the breakfast could be included in the room rate at this price level. Definitely recommended.

Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Radical chic with beautiful views"

3rd November 2012, London

This is not the place if you are looking for imperial Vienna nostalgia. This is 21st century cool. We were upgraded to a junior suite with views over Vienna and the the Vienna woods. Every aspect of the room was coolly designed and white. Despite the stress on design the furniture and bedding are extremely convenient, comfortable and well thought out. We had dinner at the restaurant at the top of the hotel, the food was lovely, the views impressive, the decor well thought out as a reminder of Vienna's woods in the autumn, the service was a little pretentious though. My only warnings: the internet service is free only at extremely low speed and for only two devices, otherwise it is 24 euros. At this point I consider charging for internet like charging extra for toilet paper, annoying and extortionate, if the room had been 20 euros more I probably would not have complained. The other concern, it is called Sofitel Stephansdom but the famous cathedral is about half a kilometer away...but you can see it!

Management responseDear guest,Thank you very much for your comment and we are very pleased that you enjoyed the style and design created by Jean Nouvel and that you had a good time at Le Loft restaurant. The colorful ceiling is an artwork by Pipilotti Rist and represents the four seasons. As you mentioned the Stephansdom, our namesake, has been the source of inspiration for Jean Nouvel in creating the hotel. The tree colors white, grey and black as well as the diamond roof structure are referring on the color scheme and roof pattern of the Cathedral. All the rooms facing the city and of course the Le LOFT restaurant offer the most beautiful view on the Stephansdom. We would be more than happy to welcome you soon again in our Artwork.Best regards, William Haandrikman

Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom: 5.0 out of 5 stars "fby"

10th May 2012, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

A fantastic hotel- very interesting architecture (Jean Nouvel)- rooms are either white (with a view on the ferris wheel) or grey (with a view on St Stephen's) White rooms are completely white, from top to bottom- breakfast in dining room on top floor (fantastic views invite guests to linger and enjoy their food)- bar on top floor (seats are too low and prevent guests from having a view). To enjoy the view it's better to sit on a high stool or dine- location is convenient (Metro Station "Schwedenplatz") and stop for Bratislava Boat Shuttle. The hotel is within walking distance ofSt Stephen's and City Centre

Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Nice view"

10th March 2012, Sao Paulo, Brazil

I stayed in a Luxury Room with Stephansdom view on 15th floor. The view from my room is very very very nice. I think it is the best view you can get in Vienna. The room is gray, minimalistic. Very elegant and spacious. I liked so much. Many very nice details for those who cares about. It is well located near a subway station (one station way from CAT station) and the History Center of Vienna.

Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Very good service"

2nd February 2012, London, United Kingdom

The hotel designed by Jean Nouvelle is fairly new and very modern. The view from our bedroom on the 15th floor was amazing, the service was impeccable and the personnel very warm and welcoming.I recommend the breakfast on the 18th floor if anything for the 360 view on Vienna that you get from the bar/restaurant.

First stay. Arrives at 0900 and room available. Great room overlooking the cathedral. Staff splendid in all respects - courteous, knowledgeable, super helpful. Good room, swish and modern decor, great architecture of the hotel. Dinner in their top floor restaurant with great views, excellent food and again great service. Good location opposite the Metro stop. In all, a great hotel, good location, good staff and a great spa facility - will stay again.

Stayed at this hotel during Christmas week - so well placed and walking distance of city centre, transport. Lovely view from window overlooking Cathedral. Room was very modern, comfortable, quiet and intruiging decor. The grey room was very calming.
