"Slipping Standards"

I first stayed here a couple of years ago. I knew the GM of the time - Stephane Barbazan - who has now been transferred to a property in Romania - but standards have slipped since then. The hotel is classified as a 5-star, but it doesn't feel like a 5-star. As a Le Club Platinum card holder, in other Grand Mercures, I receive a more personalised welcome, fruit plates, cakes, even a complimentary bottle of wine, not to mention a greeting card. In this property, now, nothing. I am not entitled to those things, but when one gets them repeatedly in different properties - and then doesn't get them, it is noticeable.The check-in was OK, but a little terse. A few smiles can go a long way. The room was OK, but the carpet seems a little worn. Bathroom fittings are fine. The windows do still shut out the street noise. The bed is a little hard, which suggests the mattress is new, but OK for sleeping. The lighting is OK for work, but a ceiling light for the whole room would be nice.The coffee shop (where breakfast is served) was a little cramped - with a less extensive range of breakfast choices than I would expect for a 5-star property. The coffee was not freshly brewed for each guest, but poured from the common pot. That's fine in a 3-star, but in a 5-star, when one pays 5-star prices, one expects a little more, including fresh coffee. At lunch, I requested a glass of water numerous times, but it never came. Eventually the coffee shop manager appeared in person - and promptly ensured that a glass of water was delivered. But it should not be necessary to call the manager just to get a glass of water!!! This manager kindly waived the service fee - which was only fair in the circumstances. It seems that some training of the software is needed.There are many choices in Shenzhen, indeed many Accor choices. I'll try one of the Novotels next time.

"Circumstances"

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel. I think the room is good. Specially I found there is a tool customer does not slip inside bath. I think it is a very good selection. However, I think the size should be smaller workable.When I arrived midnight of Jan. 6th I found a few persons were working of crashing and improving the door situation. However, there a lot of noisy sound in the midnight. Maybe the customer sleeping in the room must be uncomfortable. I think the daytime working should be. The people working in the breakfast and reception desk are very kind and hospitality. "Average but poorly managed"

We stayed in a suite for 10 days before the new year. The initial suite the hotel gave us was terrible: dirty, rusty ceiling, not-working equipment and poor lighting. We couldn't understand why the hotel is so poorly managed. After we complained, the hotel gave us another suite and offered some extra benefits. We would have moved to another hotel, if we hadn't booked this hotel at 50% discount through Accor website. The breakfast in the coffee shop was not well organized, with many empty dishes before it ended. Staff are friendly and services are speedy, yet they not trained professionally.

"Clean and comfortable stay"

Hotel is located close to Futian port and also some footsteps away from Zhuzlin metro station. Staff is friendly and also most of them can speak english. I stayed in executive suite, so the room was ok. No bad smell like in most other hotels. The shower was not so good, because there was a bathtube. I did not like food here, but there is many cheap and ok restaurants near the hotel. My second stay in this place and I definitely will come back to this place when next time in Shenzhen.

"Nice stay at this hotel"

I have stayed in this hotel more than 5 time in the past 3 years. I love the hotel as it is convenient, right in front of Zhuzilin MRT station, supported by eating houses at the back of hotel, there is also bus terminal within walking distance. Services is good and the facilities there are comprehensive. There is gym, spa and even a sports bar. I will definitely come back to stay again in the near future.

"Excellent Location"

This is the third or fourth times I stayed at this hotel. Services has been improved with more flexibility and client-oriented base. Have buffet dinner and breakfast during previous stay but still needs improvement in choices and qualities. Pillow is not soft enough for me if compared my stay at Sheraton Four Points hotel. However, overall services and facilities is satisfactory with excellent location as the MTR station is just outside the hotel.

With Metro station right at door step this hotel is well positioned. Easy to get to most of SZ's business and industrial areas if you are travelling for biznis. Only 50RMB from Shekou ferry terminal by taxi. Hotel is very clean and well maintained. The only draw back is that there are not many good food around.......Overall is very satisfactory stay.

"Nice spot for a short stay"

Good hotel and price reasonable, room is basic and spacious. Didn't like the pillows which are too soft and aircon temperature unstable at night time, unable to sleep well.

"7 days in Shenzhen"

This hotel has it all. Conveniently located so that shopping and touring can be done with ease. Right next to the Metro, the Window of the world attractions is just a couple of stops on the metro. Travel in the other direction (on the metro) for the best in shopping....The concierge provides great assistance as to "whereto" and when you get back after a hard day's trekking ... They welcome you with a smile.... Multiple restaurants, 2 fantastic bars, great staff! Just remember to book a larger room..... it is well worth it! We day-tripped to Hong Kong and Macou from this hotel...... As westerners, it was great to return to this convenient location and welcoming staff..... Hats off to you Grand Mercure !!!

"Terrible Front-desk Service"

It's the first time I stay at this brand name hotel,. Franky speaking, the grading is equal to local "Inn". Guest s/b in mind it cannot compare to another brand "Sofitel" Terrible check-out service, while I arrived at counter for check-out, I saw the front-desk people no smile, angry looking, I'm wonder why even the managress she's angry for what? She got a formal trainning before?This hotel use bad quality of glass in room, as like as glassine. I never broke any glass at other hotels, but I did at this hotel twice, when I cleaning the glass for drink, it touch the sink then broken easily. No one care even I hurt my finger by broken pieces. They are concerned to charged my account only.

"No idea on how to handle customer who reach early in the morning. Accor card is not worth joining."

I reach the hotel at 8:00am due to midnight flight. I know standard check in time is noon but there are many rooms available just waiting for cleaning.It is a matter of adjustment of cleanning the room to allocate early check in like me.However I still waited for almost two hours even though the receptionist told me the room will be ready in 20 min. I now know I could not ask for more with this hotel anymore,I was Accor member since many year ago, now this membership can only get 10%discount on the publish rate. This is much higher than other client like corporate client. In addition, there is no free breakfast under this membership room. I do not see the goodness of continue this membership anymore! One night free stay under this member does not mean anything to me as I stay in hotel at one third of every month.
