We have stayed in Ibis budget before around the world with no problems, but this is by the true definition of the word, budget. Window was not working properly, there is a lot of noise living on the East side of the building from fans and the bathroom hardly dries after baths. The place is humid and caused skin problems for us. Staff hardly recognized us, but one worker, who did a great job. Would not stay in this hotel again, neiter recommend it. It is simply not up to Ibis standard.
Like all Ibis Budget hotels, Auckland was spartan but clean and serviced well. Lift buttons were do hard yo press we feared being stuck on a high floor. Location was great for our purposes. We found the room very hot but could not get the air conditioner to work on cool. We were trying to sleep with the balcony door open but there was some building/road work going on nearby and the jackhammering was incessant. When we rang reception at about 10pm they advised that the unit in our room was a heater only and when we asked if the jackhammering usually stopped sometime soon they implied they knew nothing about it - it would have been impossible for them not to hear it. They did offer to put us on the other side of the motel but we were already unpacked and in bed and didn't feel it would have made any difference to the sound penetration. Not much sleep that Friday night but at least they didn't work Saturday night. Pillows were also so thin that you needed two but this then made them very hard. Woke with a headache. Staff were friendly and generally helpful b
