Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Nice Hotel with good service"

It's my 1st visit to KK & being a Accorclub member I would prefer to stay with an associate Hotel within the group. My check-in was swift & was upgraded to a premier room on the highest floor but unfortunately the air con in the room is faulty. Mr Byron Francis came to my rescue & quickly assigned me a room on a floor lower. a smaller room with a view facing the mountain. He also arranged for a free minibar in my fridge.room is nice & comfy, bathroom with shower comes with very basic amenties. One complaint i have they dont provide hand towels only bath ones. Throughout my stay, Mr Francis has been most helpful & informative ensuring my stay is a comfortable one. If I ever visit KK again I will stay at the Novotel provided Mr Francis is still helming the LeAccorclub counter. The airport transfer from 1Borneo to KK airport is at RM 50.00 which I think is quite steep especially for a solo traveller.

乾淨clean roomlike the bath tub there!!met some problem about my booking through internet agent , luckily staff were all very helpful & nice admire for providing car service to transfer us to another hotel for 1night because the hotel was full when we checked in , Another hotel is in 5 minutes walking distance BUT they still provided us car services, even for the next morning transferring us back to Shangarila.唯一一點係佢張床硬少少更好, 間房幅牆有度木門通向隔離房(??!!), 所以有時會聽到隔離房有個男人傾電話。PS: Bring your own teeth brush.

If you have ever stayed at another Novotel before, prepare yourself for a bit of a shock.This hotel looks like it was built during the high-flying, Asian-boom years of the 90s, but then left to decay. Nothing seems to be maintained. Staff do not offer information proactively. Our rooms were not even available on time.During our stay, the door to the room we were staying had something causing it to stick, which required a LOT of force to open it. Several days went by, during which time there must have been staff who noticed it but did nothing. Only when we reported it twice was it fixed eventually. The lamp fittings were loose. The airconditioning was inadequate. Towels seemed to go missing randomly, each day. Only one key card was provided per room... and that looked pretty grubby!Oh, and the restaurant on the 5th floor (The Square) does NOT know what Chicken Alfredo is! (Clue -- it needs to actually include Alfredo Sauce!).If you're looking for a "real" Novotel, this is NOT IT!Apart from that, everything was fine.

Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Unpleasant Experience at Novotel"

I arrived at the reception counter at noon and that was 2 hours before the check-in time. There were only 2 staff at the reception counter; one is busy at handling documents (P.S. the check-in record with customers' records all on the desk without an effective management and others can easily read or even get the documents without notices!!). As an A Plus member, i waited at the counter for 5 minutes with no one greeting me or helping me. Finally, a staff came and helped. He searched for my reservation and the related documents and I was kept standing in front of the counter for 20 minutes!! I was told that i arrived earlier than expected and asked to come back at 2 pm. We came back after lunch and the male assistant manager told us that the room is still under preparation but can show us the room and let us put our luggage in the room. We got a suite on 12 floor and we reserved a suite on the Premium Floor (17/F and 18/F). We went down and asked the staff about the arrangement and he said all suites on Premium floor were fully occupied. I thought he should have told me in advanced for such arrangement and he should not make such judgement without getting my consent.He showed us one suite (not yet prepared as guests only checked out for a while) and said the suite is exactly the same as the one on 12/F and I can still enjoy the benefits as those living on Premium floor. My wife and I decided to have the room on 17/F and he said it should be fine and asked us to come back at 8 pm as preparation takes time. When we going down and leaving the hotel, the staff said they always receive complaints and I told him that i was not complaining. I just asked for what i paid for.After hanging around in the city for 5 hours, we finally entered the room at 8 pm. The room condition was not satisfactory at all. There were stains on the sheet of the bed. And the glass in the small pantry were sticky and ants on the working table as well. I gave up complaining as i was too tired at that moment.One last incident, the staff asked if i have settled the payment of the room fee or not. I made the reservation online via the website of Accoradvantage website and instant payment was made. How come they asked me for such simply question?

We found the rooms comfortable and the location fantastic as it is conveniently located in. Shopping centre. However, a few complaints. Our room was supposed to come with free minibar full of drinks. This was never stocked up until we complained 3 times. Also, towels were always not available. We have 2 very young kids and we found this very inconvenient as we had to wait for clean towels to be brought up. Last complaint, the breakfast was the same every day. After 5 days, we got really sick of it. This was a common complaint by other reviews hence u knew this before I went to the hotel. As it s a common complain, why don't they do something about it?

Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Premier Room"

Room is spacious but lack of writing table space and room does not have wifi facility.Premier lounge is very basis and does not equip with sufficient light snack and drinking option. The lounge environment and facilities for relax or drink is not comfortable.

1. Bed sheets had yellow stains all over2. Shower blind had fungus growing all over3. Restaurant prices were extremely expensive. Buffet food option was terrible and was not of international standards.
