Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Nice design"

We loved the lobby design and the room is just nice for a couple. I would prefer carpeted floor in room though. Toilet is nicely placed but the bath tub is slightly narrow. Shopping is convenience as it's just around the corner. Should there be wifi in the room that would even be better, can online at our own privacy.

Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo: 1.0 out of 5 stars "Beware"

We checked in at 2 pm, and checked out at 5 pm on the same day. Very disappointing and certainly not up to Novatel standards.Hallways need new carpet - spots, stains, insects and odour issues.The pool facilites were poor. The gym is closed - an alternative is offered in a a shopping mall nearby.People and service were good but the building is in need of upgrading.

Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Nice Hotel with identical daily breakfast"

The hotel is far from down town, however, it locates within the shopping mall. We stayed at suite room, it is clean and with complete amenities. Every day we got 4 bottles of shampoo and without bath gel, you need to call to remind on the bath gel. It was surprised to see every morning we were being served with identical breakfast, I think it is ok with over night staying guest, we dislike the salad bar, the lettuce has sign of brown edges along the cuts, it seems not refrigerated well, we skipped the salad bar totally

15 minutes by taxi to KK town. Good breakfast and dining area. Shopping, restaurant and cinema at hotel next door. Very convenience for family with senior citizen and young children. Front desk's staff are well trained with good manner. General manager Mr Jacques Leizerovici managed the hotel very well. It is our 2nd trips since 2011 to Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1 Borneo as it gave us good impression & good memory. It grade the first choice hotel in Kota Kinabalu for our family member.

1. I have made a reservation via accor hotels website, during check in I was being asked to present a printed copy of the reservation, also requested to forward the confirmation to several email addresses which are invalid. 2. Each hotel room will only be given ONE keycard. I requested for a keycard and the front desk employee claimed they are out of keycards. I highlighted that I am staying in the junior suite and I NEED ANOTHER KEYCARD. In the end I was granted the keycard and also being warned that a loss keycard will cost RM50. Absolutely my first experience of a single keycard policy.

This is my 2nd time I stay in this hotel & it is totally different! My first stay was granted a normal room but this time paying the same amount, I was given a Premier Room which has separate bedroom & living room plus two toilets! The room was spacious & comfortable & the bed is nice to sleep. The next day, i woke up with full energy! I was very impressed! My kids love the room as well! The staff also provide excellent service! We like this hotel & it is value for money!We will definitely come back when we visit Kota Kinabalu!

I was in Kota Kinabalu with my teenage son to run in the Borneo Marathon. I booked the Novotel as I knew it had a good reputation as a chain. However, upon arrival, the room given to us was extremely smelly. I asked for a non-smoking and this did not qualify as non-smoking and the room also had another body order smell to it. I quickly went down to reception who immediately gave us another room (on the top floor). This was much better! The rest of the stay was perfect. Great breakfast buffet (especially with a teenager) and we ate dinner at the restaurant too which was excellent value. The pool was clean and nice to relax in and we had a mall to do some shopping in right beside us. No wifi in the room but there was cable internet in the room and wifi in the lobby. It is out of KK but it only takes about 13 minutes in taxi to get into the "heart" of town. All in all, a good stay.

Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo: 3.0 out of 5 stars "My First Accor/ Novotel Experience"

This is my first experience in an Accor/ Novotel property, I've always been looking forward to this, as I've always been on other properties when I'm on business trip.Checked into hotel just before 2p.m., my room was not ready. So I went for lunch instead in the connected shopping mall. 1Borneo. The really good part about Novotel KK is that it's connected to one of the larger shopping mall in KK. However, the location is far from KK city centre.But since I was having a seminar in University of Malaysia Sabah ( UMS), Novotel was a fantastic location to be in.As a business traveller, I booked a room with rates inclusive of wifi and breakfast. However, to my disappointment, there wasn't wifi in the room, and the LAN didn't work. The duty manager was very helpful and the technician also came to help me troubleshoot the non-connection issue. But in the end, there was no resolution and I couldn't use the internet in the office.The room was small, but very brightly lit, which I really like about it. The working table was very arkwardly position and the height was not very egonomical to work on.Bed was a little hard, but considered comfortable for me as I prefer to have a hard mattress.
